We are looking for a GMOD division leader!

Requirements:

- Cannot be a division leader or manager of another division in Xeno Gamers.

- Must know Python, Lua, or any equivalent (I will ask you to write me a small test script <250 lines or so since we've had a lot of claims in the past of people being able to program and simply being a downright fabrication. Copying and pasting huds from another person and claiming you coded them doesn't count!)

- Must have SOME server experience.

- Does not have to be a member of xG but members have priority over non-member applications.

- Must have a good relationship with the community.

- Must be over the age of 16.

Benefits of running a division for xG:

- Extreme performance of our servers and unlimited servers (if current ones are extremely full)

- Amazing community that will input all opinions and strive to improve the servers quality.

- We use the latest software to run all our servers and are extremely progressive with new technologies.

- Unlimited VPSs

I am not 110% sure you guys have noticed that all of our Counter-Strike: Source Servers are down, currently. This might be the end of Xeno Gamers - as we currently have 0 dollars to use to pay the bills. The Counter-Strike: Source servers were by themselves, and that was the first box to expire. The CS:GO, TF2 & Gmod communities will follow shortly afterwards.

We are in need of $120.00 to pay of this month. I will keep this short, and not bullshit you guys here. I cannot really elaborate much more, as this possibly might be the end of Xeno Gamers as a whole.

All entrees must have donated from the previous day (Thursday) until 7:00 PM on Friday, when the Drawing will take place. So to sum it up, you have from Thursday to 7:00 PM (Pacific Time, US & Canada) on Friday to have your donations in for your name to be entered in the drawing.

Alright guys, so I assume you have heard of our financial problems here at Xeno Gamers. We're running on a tight budget, and as such corners are being cut, servers are being removed, and all in all, it's a bad time to be an xG player... Or is it? This is a chance for not only you to help Xeno Gamers, but to even make a hefty amount of moolah!! cash!! green stuff!! (not leaves, I promise).

Yours truly, will be hosting an event that will not only benefit Xeno Gamers, but possibly yourself!! Interested? You damn well should be.

No, this isn't a scam.

Shame on you for thinking so!

At this point, you're probably thinking "Forest, how about cutting the crap and getting to the point? How much $$$ are we talkin' here?" Well guys, we're talking about winning up to an amount of 100 big ones!! That's right guys and gals, $100.00. Now obviously I'm not going to be handing this out to just any player, I'd be crazy to do that [favoritism, am I right?]. So here's how it will work, it's actually quite simple.

The cash prize will start at $30. "Now hold on a second Forest, that's not exactly one hund-" I KNOW. I know. There Is a catch, and it will require the complete co-operation of our players/members! Now let me finish, because the next time you interrupt, you'll have a branch so far up your ass you'll be sprouting damn pinecones out of your mouth.

Moving on. As I said, the cash prize will start at $30. You, the player/member who so graciously decided to be a part of this wonderful event, will reply to this thread stating that you are interested and would like some cash. So, how is this going to benefit Xeno Gamers? Well obviously you can't just expect to get money for no reason, right? You gotta give it a little to get a little. In order to be eligible to receive this cash, you must first submit a post stating that you will donate a measly $5 to Xeno Gamers. The format will be as follows (for example. You may donate more then $5 should you choose to. In multiples of 5, your name will be added multiple times. Donate $10 = name is show twice in the ballot box, meaning double the chance of you winning! Donate $15 = name is show thrice, etc):

It's as simple as that! Now, remember when I mentioned the cash prize will start at $30? Well here's where it gets interesting. For each member who states they are interested (posts a reply in the format shown above, minus the use of "code") this amount will increase by 2$. Now, that may not seem like much now, but as more players/members join in, the higher it goes! Up and up and up until, you guessed it, $100.00. A date will be given where the ballot box will be closed, and no further entries will be allowed. Another date will then be given, stating the time of day when I will be pulling a winner (via random name generator). The name I pull out will win the cash prize and will be announced via forums!

Now, remember guys, this will be out of my own pocket. So to sum it all up:

1st and foremost, our Garry's Mod Division has been making a come-back (as I'm sure you are all aware) and the TTT Server has been able to maintain a high amount of players daily! A great big thanks to Fuzz and Skitzofrenly for all of their hard work in populating our Garry's Mod Division as well as taking the responsibility of bringing it back to it's former glory (and then some)!!

For those of you anxiously waiting for our Dark RP server to be up and running, our Division Leaders only ask that you wait a little bit longer. Remember; they aspire to make it the best of the best, near perfection, so it will take some time, some effort, a little elbow grease, and of course, a lot of support from the community! A great big thank-you to ForestJr (daddiodoug) for the amount of donations that at one point saved the CS:S Servers from being shut-down. Even before that, donations by this Member were given. Surely, ForestJr was last month's Donator of the Month and deserves a round of applause! I would also like to mention that he has taken it upon himself to aid Silence in possibly funding a coder in order to get hub up and running for the Counter-Strike:Source Division.

After intense sexual edging between me and Archer from HG, he proposed a 15v15 with 3 teams of 5. He proposed this since there are so many people from HG who would like to scrim. As we know there is an abundance of players who will be willing to scrim so I have made this thread for members to apply/group up with other members. There will be two more teams as I have already made one. It's mainly a friendly event so don't worry if you're awful at CS:S, in the end it's just for fun.

The problem is, however, that every person has to have the specific champion for this tourney.

The response of this thread will determine champion selection.

Lee Sin, Heimerdinger (lel), Zed, etc. have been highly requested, as well as lane specific such as a general Mid lane, or ADC competitions.

So give us your thoughts on what champions or what lanes shall be contested!

Quick rundown of what's going down:

1v1 mirror lane, first to destroy turret wins the match.

It's pretty obvious mechanically inclined champions will make this VERY interesting. We don't want a boring, heimerdinger stand-off mid.

Due to no clear champion choice in the last thread, this poll will decide what champ will be used for the tourney. Posting below will put you a spot in the tourney as well, so leave a comment saying you are in.

Double elimination will be the layout; seeds will be randomized.

For whatever unlucky one of you gets PiNoY, don't worry you will have another chance in the loser pool.

Start brushing up on the voted champ, there will probably be a weeks notice 'till the dates of matches.

Counter-Strike: Source Updates

• Upcoming XenoGamers Lottery #2: Money, money, money, moneeyyy. MOOOONEYYYY. That's right, ladies and gentlemen. XenoGamers will be hosting another Lottery, where one of you lucky individuals may win prizes up to 100$. What is the XenoGamers Lottery?

• The XenoGamers Lottery is a drawing in which any Entrants are eligible to win a cash prize of up to 100.00$! Runner-up prizes may also be distributed for 2nd and 3rd drawings
  
• Anyone is eligible to enter this Lottery, Non-Member and Member!
  
• Entering in this Lottery will benefit XenoGamers by aiding in it's growth as both a Clan and Community as well as adding future content!
  

How does it work?

• Entrants may donate in increments of 5.00$ toward the Lottery (only 5.00$ is needed for entry). For each additional 5.00$, their name will be added once more to the Drawing, thereby doubling/tripling/etc their chances of winning! (For Example: 5.00$ = 1 slip, 10.00$ = 2 slips, 15.00$ = 3 slips, etc.)

• Completely rewrote 'Teamspeak Integration' to use the foreign key feature that InnoDB offers. This allows for a complete hierarchy which makes for less code and faster processing (example, delete a users entry from the main teamspeak table, it deletes them from the log and their statistics. A single query instead of three #ballin)
  
• Started the conversion process to make the website more appealing with hi-res screens (ie. retina display and OLED screens). This includes switching some of the icons to use FontAwesome, redesigning the division icons into SVGs (InkScape was incredibly helpful doing this, and it's free!), as well as doubling the avatar size (you can upload much larger avatars, including gifs! Please re-upload your avatar to see this go into effect). Some of the things that required this include:
  

- Large from 192px to 384px, Medium from 96px to 192px, Small from 48px to 96px.

- Apply a hard-fix to the avatar modifier, to support these changes (currently a glitch but it's XFs side and will make a bug report)

- Future step will be to double steam community avatars to support hi-res displays.

• Added support for the tab button in the editor! Makes everyone's live much easier when copying and pasting text, or just trying to format your stupid messages nicely.
  
• Layout fix for the articles page. Should look a lot better and more consistent.
  
• Complete layout overhaul for /xg/ including guests custom names to stay with their posts as well as the inclusion of GET numbers. The numbers are generated from the name and then encoded again to prevent decryption. You will be 100% anonymous to other users.
  
• Polls are now pie charts. Makes reading them much easier and looks far better.
  
• Added around 20 new trophies to encourage further forum activity! Check them out here.
  
• The website theme has been re-purposed and will be modified accordingly for major holidays from now on.
  
• Many addons updated to their latest versions.
  
• Rewrote the British algorithm to reflect @@Forest more appropriately.
  

Main Server Machines:

VPS:1:

• Updated the kernel to the newest version provided by RHEL.
  
• Updated GoLang server to 1.1.2.
  
• Updated Nginx to 1.5.6.
  
• Updated PHP, including the process manager, to 5.5.4.
  
• Switched session storage to Memcached to speed up various tasks that can be performed on the website.
  
• Increased the amount of child processes in PHP-FPM to handle the increase of website visitations.
  
• Increased RAMDISK #2 to 1GB to support what comes after this.
  
• Added caching for the reverse image proxy (CamoGO) that makes images displayable through HTTPS. This means that it will store a hard copy of the image on the server for x amount of minutes to prevent a page from taking way to long to load. It needs a bit of tweaking and I'm still unsure whether or not to make them permanently stored.
  
• Modified pagespeed and tweaked the settings for better performance.
  
• Increased Memcached to 1GB of available space.
  
• Switched APCu to Zend OPCache that's included with PHP 5.5. Better performance galore!
  
• Fixed the fstab file so mounting on boot actually works with the SSD, as well as modifying rc.local to allow for persistent file systems on the RAMDISKs. So if the VPS crashes, I won't have to be around to rebuild the file systems nor mount the SSD manually. (note that the VPS has never crashed once, I just restart cause Windows corrupted my mind and makes me thing I have to :'( )
  
• Completely rebuilt the MySQL database and wiped all databases, and rebuilt them from backups. We are seeing much better performance! (the last time I did this was in 2010, and I've learned tons since then so it was desperately needed.)
  
• Switched the remaining tables in each database to InnoDB since MySQL 5.6 supports full-text searching in InnoDB!
  
• Increased MySQL's buffer_pool_size for InnoDB to 2GB for better performance, as well as tweaked the query cache for the same reason.
  
• Rewrote various init.d scripts since they were badly made (I was a noob back then!) probably still am lol
   
  
• Modified the MySQL backup script to be more aggressive, with backups being made every 3 hours and being kept for a week before being deleted.
  
• Modified MySQL to utilize the SSD to the fullest, with new features offered in MySQL 5.6. Better performance from this.
  
• Completely rewrote all the IPTables rules to remove stuff that was added like 3 years ago and probably shouldn't be there.
  
• Modified Nginx config to better handle DOS attacks.
  
• Allocated 32GB of ram to handle the British algorithm. We might need some outside help on this one, it's getting expensive.
  

The other machines are either managed by NFOServers or by @@Stickz and all I have done with them was modify the firewall rules.

Game Servers:

CSS:

• Deleted a bunch of servers to allow for more resources being directed to TF2 and CS:GO.
  
• Removed CallAdmin from everything, it was broken. Thanks @@DarkWolf6052 for figuring this out! Saved my ass!
  
• Modified Hub to a new version. Progress is getting done!
  

TF2:

• Updated the Jailbreak mod with the new API for last requests. Will actually code the last requests when people stop freekilling so much where we never get to them!
  
• Updated the Deathrun mod to fix minor issues.
  
• Any feature requests, please post in the respective thread in the TF2 discussions area, or make a thread if it doesn't exist!
  

Any other divisions I have zero idea about, and if the respective division leaders would like me to include anything, please let me know!
