I doubt my opinion is going to matter much but as far as the community within xG not a whole lot has actually changed besides names and the overall popularity of servers. At least not to me. I don't think it's a very controversial statement to say that xG has always been kind of an "insiders" club so to speak. If you're close to the people high up in the staff or just among members chances are you're likely to get away with a lot that others won't. Whether it's casually breaking rules every so often to make a joke or blatantly abusing your status on Jubens (Which is awesome btw) or being a completely unreasonable fucking dick, it's happened a lot and probably will continue to happen. It's not really new, it's kind of become part of the culture. +1 for slaps back in minigames is a nice small example but that's just a very small example of the culture that's been created. I'm part of the issue because I kind of fucking love that kind of shit when it's funny, but when it's not it just makes us look bad. To newcomers and old members alike. If you do something wrong put away your pride and apologize when someone calls you out, don't try and yell louder to prove that you are right because that's still *wrong.* We all joined this community, dictated by specific rules because 1. We agree with those rules, and 2. We enjoy this community. Yes sometimes breaking the rules is fun, yes sometimes people just get under each other's skin that's bound to happen but it's still people we're dealing with and not Jubens.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that this community misses an integral part of the issue when it comes to having fun and that's not everyone has fun the same way. I enjoy roasting the fuck out of people when I play and I expect to get roasted in return, not everyone is like that though and that's fine. But also there's a difference from roasting the fuck out of someone and literally just verbally abusing them or otherwise making their time unenjoyable, it's something that shouldn't really need to be said but if you don't know someone in real life like at all, and you don't know anything about them. You don't get to just go in on them over some video games or forum posts. That's some fucking little kid fanfiction forums shit, that isn't how it's supposed to be for us, any of us. If you don't know how to treat others or apologize or at the very base standard *listen* to someone else, you don't belong on the internet much less in this community. If you're a no name literal first day joiner 12 y/o kid, or a Co-Leader everyone is worth hearing out at least once. Be fair, be patient, be friendly. If you're not willing to do those things, why be in the community?
That being said, everyone is responsible for their own actions, and while I agree it's never okay to harass or abuse people. I also don't think that makes you responsible for real life issues except in very specific circumstances. As capable as everyone is to not be a dick, everyone is just as capable to walk away from a dick. But I also want people to stop leaving the community because I have yet to play jb in the last three years with more than 20 people in the server so...
So yeah +1, be a basic human you nerds. (Oh and Someone give me mod back /s) Also ily Jubens

SyrJirk reacted to Tatost in Rising epidemic of harassment
Although harassment is not something unknown to the community prior to this post, I thought I would reflect on the state of the problem as it currently stands. This thread will make me seem even more like a high school counselor, which I really couldn't care less about.
Harassment generally goes hand-in-hand with drama, which @Caleb956 explained perfectly in his recent thread. (See below)
Quite recently I've seen certain players/members being harassed over complete bullshit. As someone who was previously kicked out of the community entirely, I find it infuriating that staff members haven't been cracking down on the people who do it on the daily. Some specific examples of harassment going on in both CS and TF2 would be the situations surrounding @DepressedNeonNepp and @Lottamos. People constantly throw their names around as insults or attempt to troll them to the point where they will get angry, leave the server/community for x amount of time. I won't call out specific names, but I've seen plenty of members and staff partaking in these sorts of activities. As I said previously, we're a gaming community, not an exclusive club. Make people feel welcome. Please stop trying to push people out of the community.
You can never really get to know a person if you constantly harass them. For example, when people pick on Nep they portray him as this toxic little asshole when he really isn't. I've seen him a few times on the CS surf server (albeit he was under an alias at the time) and he was a genuinely enjoyable person. Now, I know school shooters are kind of a touchy subject on here, but I'd like to use a TEDx Talk to illustrate my point that being kind to someone can keep them from making bad decisions. If I cross some sort of line linking the video, I can understand and invite any forum staff to go ahead and cut out this section of my rant.
Although I highly encourage everyone to both read the entirety of my post and watch the entire video, I'll insert a TL;DR.
TL;DR - This community is plagued with members, staff and random players that can't seem to control themselves when it comes to harassing another person online. The argument that this is the internet and you shouldn't take anything seriously is complete horseshit, stop using it. Please be kind to other players instead of antagonizing them over nothing. Staff members need to start cracking down on this sort of behavior, be a part of the solution, not part of the problem.

xG's jailbreak history is incredibly heavy on rebelling, with the best rebels being rather popular and notorious for their rebelling skills. there was a bit of a rebel culture, and rebeling is the whole point of playing T in my opinion (who actually wants to listen to kids give them orders?)

if you can't deal with rebels just get off CT or:

be good enough of a nazi to make it hard to rebel
be interesting so it is more rewarding for ts to play to your orders rather than ignore you

edit: also, rebelling is a good way to do literally that when the wardens/cts are being boring. if there is someone bad hording warden, you should make his day not fun so he gets off and someone actually interesting starts wardening. its a core mechanic of the game, any changes would be unhealthy and just cater to people who are bad, making it too easy for cts and ts combined and basically just Day Care Simulator. removing this also encourages unintuitive approaches to wardening/1 dimensional gameplay (boring games/first reaction last reaction every round, all ts follow me lets do this 1 game, if u dont like it suck it!!), as well as just being difficult to enforce in general

you can see why this is a bad idea, yes?

Both my actual work and school schedules don't really allow time for spending ample amounts of times playing any games. I used to have at least a day or two where I could spend most of my time at home and would usually just stay on the servers for a while or at least on the surf server in case I was actually needed but since then I haven't had time to pop in often at all. And when I am on there's usually other mods or just not enough people for me to want to dedicate what little time I have to making sure the rules are all being followed. I try and check in at least once a week but I just don't have time like I used to and when I am on I wanna play comp. or other games and actually enjoy my time instead of watching usually less than a dozen lads muck about the server.
