I can fix the hole if we have the map files. Keep it real hush hush and not tell the creator, just slap an invisible wall on that biatch and call it a day.

There's really no need to go and do that, I'd recommend if you're going to do this to get permission from the person who created the map. The hole in question isn't game breaking, and you have to actually be trying to get yourself into it.

If the majority of people don't like it then why would we keep it? Yeah you can just type rtv but if a majority of people don't want the map then we shouldn't have it. This isn't specific to this situation either, I stand by this for all maps. If the majority of people want to keep this map then that's fine by me and the people who don't like it can rtv, but we shouldn't just dismiss it as "just rtv" if a larger portion of players dislike the map in the first place

Because your idea of "majority of people" are just the people most vocal about it. I'm sure a lot more people on the server like the map, just don't have member to vote/don't want to speak up about it.

+1 map is super boring and nobody knows what its from. Plus we already have bunker so there is no need to have 2 bunkers

Map is from Phantasy Star Online, an old MMO from the Dreamcast.

It was one of the better ported maps on the server imo, not that many glaring bugs outside of one spot that you can go behind a wall. It does have the same hallway problem that bunker has but if we're honestly going to keep bunker you might as well just keep this one too. If people don't like it they'll just RTV.

  4. I was the one who asked NFO support about the potential ToS violations, they just replied saying "it's not something we could fairly control" or something along those lines, basically saying it's fine if it's in game. Would only be a ToS violation if a website ran through NFO had pornography hosted.

Something I've felt that should be a thing is spawn camping on teleport spawns to be allowed. I don't see any real reason to still keep it the way it is especially with the fact TGH fully allows tele spawn camp meanwhile poketrade still doesn't.

Pokemon trade has much less spawn protection than TGH, which could be changed but I know people who go on pokemon trade dislike spawn protection as it stands currently. Extending the spawn protection will most likely upset people, so we might as well just keep the teleport spawn camping rule there.

  6. Yeah, having players start out with credits sounds fine, Elcarks suggested 500 credits is perfect.

Right now, objective server should have the same powers, though maybe keep the boss plugin out of it.

Also need to discuss custom titles with how they work, currently people can pay $5 and basically get infinite titles as all they need to do is have it changed my someone with access to hub. I would like to propose we allow infinite changes on custom hub titles for 48 hours, and after that they must buy another title if they want another.

Alongside playpoints for now, does anyone think we should remove machine slapping right away? The vote for it didn't have a strong majority but not many people voted in the first place. I'd say keep it for now since there isn't too much complaining against it right now and it just seems boring to make options even more limited (hyper heavy or nothing).

Yeah lets just keep it for now, until we find an alternative to playpoints.

Is your plan really to never get at working on what is being said or even look back on any of this until the forums tell you that you should?

Absolutely not, but you can't expect me to check this thread every time I'm on the forums expecting a reply. Usually the forum notification system has been pretty helpful with notifying me of replies, but lately everything here is a mess.

    7 hours ago, Elcark said:

Even if the forums are being more problematic for you, it's not like we don't have other ways already set up at our disposal to communicate among one another.

You're right, in the future if I'm not replying or just completely miss a thread, just dm me.

About no one coming to you about staff, i'll just flat out state you really come off as cold and unfriendly to pretty much the majority of people. People don't communicate with you because they aren't comfortable communicating with you. I've even had complaints about those that have tried to do so claiming you have very brief and unenthusiastic responses, as if you couldn't care less what they have to say to you.

I've heard this before, only from Kypari. People who say this have never really talked to me, probably only said something to me on the servers to which I replied pretty blandly because I'm probably doing something else. I'm not exactly the most extroverted person, but I do definitely care about what most people say to me.

Anyway, lets get a thread up for rotation server to see what we're doing with it.

Oh yeah, a few staff have brought up that mods should get noclip since it helps out a lot in dealing with naughty people. I don't think it is particularly necessary for mods to have, but I think it is worth talking about. Thoughts?

Nah, noclip is something best kept for admin+. While mods are trusted already, I wouldn't trust them enough with noclip. It's really easy to abuse noclip, a lot easier than any of the powers that mods are already given.

I mean, you can set the max speed to not be super turbo speedrun mode... Which I did...

Setting the max speed is still going to give bhopping some type of advantage, which I'm sure was the point anyway, but not something that I would consider fair for the person playing death. If you set the speed too low, adding it would have been useless in the first place, set it higher and it's just too unfair for the death. There's other ways to spice up deathrun I'm sure, but I don't think Bhop is something that belongs. While there was a vote for it, I still believe it should've been talked over before adding imo, since it's a much larger balance decision than simply removing a map or anything of that sort.

  11. Msay should be removed, it's pretty useless to keep around imo. I've never really thought bhop belonged in deathrun, mostly because the traps can be too easily cheesed with turbospeed. I already said we should have it at 70% for map votes. Extended mutes are a concept that doesn't work for all situations, if a person is muted for being toxic, just move to kicking and banning instead of muting. If a person is simply just having mic problems or unintentionally spamming, just mute them for longer or simply just let them know. I've wanted to rid playpoints for a while, seems a bit unbalanced for the FF2 game mode, there's other ways of making the players stand more of a chance against the boss. With Promo/demo, I can't keep my eyes on everyone, and nobody ever comes to talk to me about anyone they think should become staff. And "calling me out" wasn't necessary, I've already touched on most of these topics, and the forums have been such a mess lately that I've only just now got notifications.

  12. I don't necessarily understand why people are pushing for a permanent ban on this guy over a bit of BM in chat. It doesn't even look like what he said was actually directed at anyone, and simply general opinions on "furries" themselves. The kids like 14 or 15 and it's really obvious he just wants attention. I agree with Elcark, 1 week is plenty enough for something like this.

  13. The server advertisement thing can be easily implemented, though I'm not sure if it'd exactly help with getting more people to vote. Map polls are locked to member only, and most of our current active members either already vote for maps or don't really care to vote. I do agree, we should put map votes to a 70% as to combat any vote manipulation by larger groups, though it's not necessarily a very sound solution it will work for a bit. Don't think I saw or heard anything you guys said about the FF2 play points, I've always had a bit of a problem with them myself since they give a bit of an unfair advantage at times in my opinion. The objective server was kinda made and just forgotten about, I could work on it at any time, just need ideas with what to do with it. Not exactly sure what we're going with for the rotation server, custom maps maybe?

  14. The OSU thing, just throw that out. Honestly people lie all the time about being way better at a video game than what they really are. The art stuff, while scummy, isn't necessarily grounds for removing membership. As for the scamming thing, while it did happen in the past, can lead to problems in the future. From the looks of it, they do manipulate people to give them things and then just never bother giving it back. That is something I have a huge problem with. Now while I don't necessarily think it's grounds for immediate removal of membership, it is best to keep an eye on this user. Though, now that all this is out there, I doubt anyone would trust this user with their items. Would like to see what others say, as well as Kitten, before I go any further.

  15. Just give the guy a warning, shouldn't jump straight to ban for a ramp kill. See if you can warn the others in the video who did it too if possible.

  16. Phew, this is going to be a long one.

    1. Staff are volunteers not lackeys

This "do more" mentality and backwards logic of having more mods than admins is part of a huge issue that doesn't respect your staff equally. despite all staff volunteering their time and efforts to improve the servers and the community. Treating admin as some mystical, magical, special role that's Juuust out of reach feels really really shitty for all the mods who have to work harder than other staff to prove themselves.

Admin isn't necessarily all that special of a role. It is quite literally just a moderator that is trusted more. The only difference between moderator and admin is a the title, a few commands, and the ability to permanent ban. Nothing else. I can see why it may mean a lot to others, there really is no reason to feel disappointed for not being admin in my opinion, it's only a title.

    2. Stop using probationary for no reason.

This is a punishment role. It's used for staff who don't deserve a full demotion but still want to make things right as staff. Likewise It's used for people who have a dirty history. Stop slinging it around for every person who you don't feel like fits the personality mold even when they've done nothing to deserve it. Stop using it as a compromise because 1 higher up doesn't like the person. It should be used to establish wrong doings not "We just trust you a little less."

The probationary moderator role is used for users who we are overall unsure of giving full moderator, usually because we don't know how they'll handle the position or if they can use their powers properly. Probationary moderator is a way for a user to get their foot in the door, but also allows us to see how they are as a staff member. While I usually dislike giving previous staff members probationary moderator, certain actions a user has done in the past can lead to us speculating if they're still able to handle powers as well, which is why they may be put into probationary moderator. The only difference between probationary moderator and normal moderator is just a few "fun" commands, they still get access to kick, ban, gag, silence, mute, and slay. Probationary moderators are still treated as full moderators, and usually go to full within 1-2 promo/demos.

    3. Majority matters.

It's been a huge problem for a while where higher ups have to make unanimous decisions. What this means for all the other staff is that if 1 higher up disagrees despite everyone else agreeing on said thing. It won't go through. The voice of one is too strong in this community specially for higher ups who don't go on servers enough to see what is going on or that just choose to disregard the intent of the community and more importantly the other staff. To fix this, it should be that majority rules. It should be that the community or staff vote count for 1 higher up in of themselves, because giving the people no say is what's going to kill the community.

When it comes to mod/admin, it usually is just a majority for those promotions, unless one of us is very strongly against a user getting promoted for whatever reason. When it comes to DM+ promotions I believe everyone has to agree, as it is a user we will be working with for a while. We do take the word of other staff members into account, if we got a lot of people saying "hey, this user should be promoted" we'll take a look and see if they should.

    4. Be transparent.

All decisions should be clear, concise, and have good *valid* reasons. It should be your goal to be as unbiased, well informed, and clear as possible. This under the table garbage that's been going on is just sleazy. You don't want your real opinions out there and you don't want to be held accountable which quite frankly is an embarrassment to your role. Be open and honest with your staff and not just string them along with excuses everyone knows are lies. If you make a decision you're accountable to that decision. Don't just keep letting everyone else have to figure it out.

I cannot agree with this. Personal opinions and bias against a user should be kept to ones self as it can lead to some pretty bad decision making. Personally when I make a decision on staff members, I keep my personal bias from interfering with if I think they're a good staff member or not. While I do believe some opinions do belong in making decisions on who should be staff, like a persons past experiences with a user, it should only be taken with a small grain of salt.

    5. Stop only caring about people in your respective group.

This is a big clan with large divisions and even in tf2 large sub divisions. Its been an issue for a while that surf staff only favor surf staff and tgh staff only like tgh staff. Unfortunately it has even gone as high as the higherups. Just because you haven't played on the servers (which isn't a good idea anyways) doesn't mean you should give only people in your respective server the special treatment. If you want to be taken seriously you have to take others seriously as well. It's ok to get more information to form your own opinion, but it's not ok to say it's not your problem because it's not your server.

I myself have tried to stray away from this kind of decision making, but unfortunately if I do not know a person I cannot make a good decision on them. Hardly ever do I see a user trying to contact me or other users trying to contact me about someone else. The most I see anymore is someone mentioning in the promo/demo that "Oh someone suggested that a user should be promoted" which is fine and all, but I cannot personally give a good opinion on who that user is if I have no experience with them. While I can blame some of this on myself, since there are just some servers I do not personally like playing on, I do wish people would make more of an effort to come talk to me.

    6. Witnesses matter.

I'm all for innocent until proven guilty, but some of you take this as an opportunity to ignore issues all together because no tangible evidence. Staff witnesses have just as much say as a normal witness, none. It doesn't matter how many people say a person did an action because without proof you're never going to confront the issue. You make no effort to gather more information. It doesn't help when you expect people to be recording EVERYTHING that goes on, and to be honest if you are wanting people who record everything just to nail one person it's a pretty sucky, bandwagony mentality.

When it comes to recording evidence, it takes a pretty keen eye to know when the right time is. Usually if I'm suspicious against a user or if the user had said one thing out of line already, I go ahead and start recording. While it isn't necessarily the most concrete way of gathering evidence, it works most of the time. The reason why we cannot take the words of others is because of a "bandwagony mentality". All it takes is one user to take something completely out of context, tell their friends, and the next thing you know its a mess. While I've learned from past mistakes as to why you simply should not simply take someones word on a matter, I can see why it may look silly from the outside looking in. Also if someone did say something on the servers that you feel was pretty bad, please remember we do have the rank website which is a great place for gathering evidence.

    7. Stop treating other staff like dirt.

This is to all staff. Stop staffing over each other when someone else has it handled. I'm not talking about you both get on at the same time or accidentally warn at the same time. I'm talking that another staff handled the call, they're already trying to resolve the issue, and you jump in gung hoe and start shafting them. It's not acceptable. Trust the staff members to do their job. Unless you have to make a decision that involves perms only you have as staff it should not be happening that staff are stepping on each others toes. Likewise, Mods are volunteers. Means they donate their time and energy into the servers just like you. Stop talking down to staff who are a lower rank and stop kicking them around because you can. Stop rubbing your rank in their face. They get it. It's not acceptable to disregard another staff as a whole just because they're a lower rank.

There should be none of this happening in my opinion. I usually try to step back from a situation of another staff member is already handling it, but if its obviously a situation they cannot handle like if there's a group of people causing the problem, I do try to help the staff member out. As for "rubbing ranks in their face" I've not experienced this personally but if I do see it I will talk to the staff member in question. There should be no reason why some staff should be treated differently than any other staff and to do so is just going to make us look bad as a whole, lets try to treat everyone as our equal.

    8. Share the interest of the community not just yourself.

There has been many times where higher ups have made decisions under the table that are looked at negatively by the community or ultimately effected them negatively. Yes we get you like this one plugin idea and the other higher ups are all for it, but when you implement it out of nowhere and it effects the players to the point of complaining about it that's not in the interests of them. Part of making the community a better place is by making it unified, and when you keep making decisions that effect a mass in the community you create division.

When it comes to adding stuff to the servers, I usually only add maps without asking people as seeing peoples first hand experience with a map lets me better see if it should stay or not. When it comes to plugins I do ask around a bit as those can have a bigger effect on game play. While I do believe that peoples personal interests should be taken into account, I also do believe people should realize that everyone has differentiating opinions on maps/plugins/ect. That's why we make forum polls to remove maps/make huge changes to a server, so we can see how everyone feels about those.

While I do believe it make seem like we're being unfair or biased at times, I can assure you we try not to be. We're only human, not every decision we make is perfect. There's no way we'll know how some decisions will effect others until it's already made. Sorry you didn't get the promotion you wanted and that you felt treated unfairly but please keep in mind, we try to give everyone a fair chance. I hope I worded this in a way that does not seem aggressive or mean, I'm not the best at choosing the right words sometimes. I do hope you did not blame your fellow staff for any of this, it's not their fault. The only people you should blame is us, the higher ups, for anything you've felt as unfair.

  17. Not to perpetuate but still reiterate about the rtd concept, between our cs:go servers apparently doing the same with no issues and multiple other tf2 servers either running a similar system or flat out requiring a vip/donor pay wall to use rtd and not suffering from scaring away new players by this, I personally don't believe there's any solid reason to think that would be the case beyond speculation. If anything I feel like it would encourage people to try and earn more credits if they are being actively spent as well as gives the opportunity to give out credits as special rewards (such as the screenshot of the month) and possibly incite activity for such activities. This is just my own reasoning for it though.

I am still going to say no to this. We're not other servers, I want absolutely no form of paying credits to use a basic plugin like RTD. Some players can see this as "Pay2win" and I honestly can too. I personally do not want to gamble my credits to maybe get a good roll, and I doubt anyone else does either.

Now in terms of other ideas for active spending the only other one I can come up with right now is a single use vote command. There's a few things i'm concerned over when it comes to adding commands from the donator tiers for this purpose.

First of all, straight up adding something to be a permanent purchase like the robot command defeats the purpose of this idea, which is to have ways for people to spend credits actively and continuously as opposed to a single purchase.

Secondly, when straight up taking commands that currently are only accessible to donators, it presents the possibility of making the donation tiers themselves less appealing. Why donate for powers when one can just buy them with credits for free? It would have to be commands that are less significant, such as vote or be the skeleton, so as to not take away from the reason for donating.

Lastly would be how abusable any of these commands are. Not everyone is going to be familiar with what is and isn't allowed with all the powers and there would likely be many issues with people misusing powers like resize or be the skeleton to the point it would eventually just be removed.

I was thinking if we added more donator commands to the hub, they would be session based instead of permanent. As for misusing, this is really a nonissue. People do make mistakes, but they will learn whats bad and whats not if you tell them. Only once have I had to remove someones hub noclip, and that was because the user had got it back when it was 10k. Personally, I don't see any reason to add more donator commands to the hub myself. Virr has a very nice "auras" plugin him and lithium have been trying to port over, and hopefully that will turn out working properly.

  18. One other possible topic; how about we add a charge of credits to the roll the dice plugin on the trade servers and ff2. This is something I considered during Rhodo's meeting and after both thinking about it a bit more as well as bringing it up to some people while on the server, figured it may be worth a try. The current concept I'm thinking of is a charge of 25-50 credits each time it is used. As a compromise, cutting the cool down time from 120 seconds to possibly only 60 seems fair.

This would kind of alienate newer players who do not have access to an abundance of credits, and would kinda ruin the entire reason to have the RTD plugin in the first place. RTD is only there for players to have fun with it, having to pay to use that just seems kinda scummy imo.

  19. I know there's no way I could +1 this without looking bias, simply because you are my friend. But I do want to say, you have genuinely changed since you've stepped down. I've seen you stay out of trouble and mostly try to keep to yourself when it comes to drama. I can understand people will probably want to -1 you based on past stuff, but I do hope anyone who does plan on -1'ing you genuinely tries to get to know you. Nobody should judge someone based on things they did half a year ago, during a bad time in their life. The time for drama is passed, lets keep things positive and try to leave actual criticism.

  20.

I would be very down to have a stock objective server! +1

EDIT: Also Vargas mentioned that we could have custom trails as a donation thing (similar to custom titles).

    Thoughts?

Custom trails are more trivial than custom titles, as custom trails would require downloading a picture, albeit a small one, for every trail.

As for stock objective server, it's been done in the past and died out eventually. If the interest is there I wouldn't mind making another.
