Who's good at Physics?

4. A 3.00 x 104 kg box car is travelling in a positive x-direction at 4.00.m/s when it collides with and remains coupled (stuck) to a stationary 5.00 x 104 kg freight car. Calculate the velocity of the cars after the collision. (5 marks)

5. A 200 g steel ball moving in a negative x-direction at 100 cm/s strikes a 500 g steel ball moving in a negative x-direction at 60.0 cm/s. After the collision, the 500 g steel ball moves in a negative x-direction at 75.0 cm/s. What is the final velocity of the 200 g steel ball? (5 marks)

6. A 100 kg astronaut is standing on the outside surface of a 4.50 x 104 kg spacecraft. The astronaut jumps away from the spacecraft at 8.00 m/s.

a. What happens to the spacecraft? (2 marks)

b. What is the velocity of the spacecraft relative to the astronaut? Assume the direction of the astronaut is positive. (5 marks)

Do my work niggas

4.

m1= 3 x 104 kg / m2= 5 x 104 kg / v= 4 m/s

x1= 4ms/312 => x1= 0,13

x2= 4ms/520 => x2= 0,007

m1 + m2 - x1 / v => (3 x 104 ) + (5 x 104) - 0,13 / 4 m/s => (0,4875 x 104)

m1 + m2 - x / v => (3 x 104 ) + (5 x 104) - 0,17 / 4 m/s => (0,6375 x 104)

(0,4875 x 104) / (0,6375 x 104) = 0,765 = V

(R/ The Velocity of the cars after collision equals 0,765)

Hope that was of any help, too tired to try the other ones tbh. :D

(I have no idea what I just fucking did ;D)
