RATING: 8/10

Screenshot_20180714-191914.thumb.jpg.6cf701b4fdd020e52ce7e8497e5d6eaf.jpgI've been playing battlerite for a couple weeks maybe a month or two now and its starting to become my new favorite game. In battlerite you fight along side with another person or a 3v3 in a arena type battlefield (with the camera angle mostly above the head of your champion.)

Roles:

Champions are put into 3 roles Melee, Ranged, and Support. Melee champions (suggested by the name) are melee based and have to fight closed combat matches. They distract the enemy and are big targets.Screenshot_20180714-202933.thumb.jpg.39b96617d3e13ea80160d1e97175bf01.jpg

(An example of one: Rook)

Ranges Champions fight far combat matches and use tactics to evade over champions like melees or melee supports (rook or ulric for example.) Screenshot_20180714-203219.jpg.3f7eec0614b9ed850126a60abdcebbf8.jpg

(Example of a ranged champion: Ezmo)

And support champions who use their abilities to: heal their teammates, disable enemies, or can fill the place of the absence of a melee or ranged (ex of a good support in the meta rn: Zander The Magician)Screenshot_20180714-193111.thumb.jpg.77f75326e02bab21399ecad503fa2314.jpg

The Main Objective:

The main objective of the game is to eliminate the enemy team 3 times. One mechanic that can really turn the game is the orb in the middle. The orb heals for 25 true healing (which can determine if you live or die). Speaking of health, the health system!

Health:

Health in Battlerite is simple. You start put with 5 health thresholds (130 - 230 health depending on role and character.)Screenshot_20180714-193620.thumb.jpg.dbed956c9e9837ca38464b4190fc7fb6.jpg

Once your health depletes behind a certain level, its threshold will close up until yo get true healing which can come from orbs on the sides of the map or the orb in the middle (sidenote: definitely a good idea to play around the main orb to have a bunch of options in case of a serious beating or jumping.) Like every other game once your health is gone completely you will die. The orange bar under it is what we're going to get into.

Energy:

The orange bar under the health is energy. Energy is CRUCIAL to winning engagements. Energy covers for EX abilities (which are altered and more powerful than regular abilities) or the Special abilities or ults. First ult only requires one energy threshold over the four (sidenote:EX abilities cost 1 or 2 thresholds depending on the champion) and usually push the enemy or their projectiles away or back at them. The second ult is the most powerful move which could disable an enemy, do a ton of dmg, or use a.o.e. on your enemies or allies. Take Lucies for example which (thrown at enemies) will create a toxic area of effect for enemies, any enemy in it will take a good ton of damage overtime and will get slowed or snared (one of the many side effects of certain moves).Screenshot_20180714-202323.jpg.c0cef800114c506c744113b7891bb820.jpg

(This is an outdated looking version of it, its look more like a pool of toxin now)

Now before talking about loadouts, lets talk about side effects.

Ability Effects:

Side effects can be caused by certain which can do certain things to an enemy or ally. Invisibility for example makes you invisible (duh) and depending on the eye above your enemies will tell how close you are. If the eye is nearly closed or kinda open, they're a good distance away. If the eye is as open as mine are at 4am watching conspiracy theory videos, they are right on you. Or my personal favorite, panic. Panic sends you enemy in the opposite direction against their will for a couple of seconds. Which if the storm is incoming (yes like the storm in fortnite owo) could lead to a game winning kill. There are more but i wanna get into loadouts (look them and read about them it will help in battle if you got  K N A W L E D G E.)

Loadouts:

loadouts, loadouts, loadouts. The bread and butter of this game. If you've ever played Paladins you might have an advantage in this field. Loadouts consist of customizable cards and put together a loadout that works in your favor. Their attribiutes consist of the following: control, support, offense, mixed, survival, etc. Screenshot_20180714-202600.jpg.481dbf00f2e06a45b1a8065498efb524.jpg

(This is an example of jade, a ranged champion's, loadout choices)

What the loadout consists if up to your personal preference (personally i prefer control and support cards cuz support main.) For example Pearl, a support champion (who remains me of a dark haired pearl from Splatoon 2) has an ability where she can put up a bubble domain where enemies are slowed, and projectiles are slowed beyond belief. Well with a switch of the loadout a bit. I was able to make it so i slows enemies, gives haste to allies, and heal the first ally to go through it. Pretty useful huh. (Side note: this took up 2 or 5 slots for cards so build wisely my children.)

Other Gamemodes:

But maybe 2v2 and 3v3 isnt your thing and neither is comp (big boy territory.) No problem. Like Smite's random god mode, Battlerite will put you in a 1v1 scenario where they give you a random champion and you beat an opponent twice to win the match will give you exp on your account. They also VS A.I. mode which can help you hone your skills. (Thing i forgot: you ride into battle with mounts)

Conclusion (sorta):

They're some things i left out and i might make a second review depending on feed back. Overall i suggest you get into the community, read guides and watch the streams about it if you're interested in getting gud.

Overall rating: 8/10 because of mechanics and other features
