    No. Failbot is failbot. I've played the GO maps on other servers and they cause so many problems. Your FPS drops by half, the reg is horrible, hitboxes turn into hit-blobs, and they're just generally laggy.

     

    The maps are great, yes - but they don't run smoothly in the Source engine.

    Still not sure personally who or what the problem was for all the lags and crashes lately, but I'd like to note that things have been 100x better today (only one crash, I think).

     

    Either way, great job to whoever for doing whatever for fixing it.

     

    Everyone who took a second to whine or complain should also take a second to +1 to show support for a job well done so we can enjoy gaming.

    KingJ I do agree with what you're saying, especially the fact that multiple messages/reports about the same thing get annoying.

     

    I just don't see how xG asks for "any input" then locks a thread when we try to do so.

     

    I also don't see how "we" are "not supposed" to talk about the "hacking" and the "deal" but it's obvious that Zilch is doing just that... Does his "deal" include being allowed to break all the rules? Because if that's the case I'd think that would only invite more problems. Just saying.

     

    (Not making any threats here, just continuing with my "open-your-fucking-eyes" point of view)

    I'd like it noted that, according to MOTD, a "reboobler" is not a rebel.

     

    If you call "Out of cells you are a 'reboobler'" I'd like to note that that does NOT make me a "rebel" if I'm out of my cell.

     

    End thread, end discussion.

     

    Two options:

    1: Update rules/MOTD to state that "reboobler"="rebel"

    2: Slay those who freekill "rebooblers" for rebelling

I'm a good guy very much interested in finding a home in a new CS community, please don't threaten to punish me unless I've actually done something wrong.

    34 hours in the last 6 days (4.23 hours per day) (at the time of this post).

     

    I've been active ... on the forums

    28 posts in 6 days... None of which are spam... At least 4 of which are helpful "How-To's". And at least 3 of which are reporting or sharing information regarding your recent attacks.

     

    Please don't take any of this out on me... I'm trying to help and put things in a "black-and-white open-your-fucking-eyes" perspective...

    Zilch was banned because he was accused of DDoS'ing the server. I personally have no proof or suspicion of this, but it's what I've heard through the grapevine.

     

    He was recently un-banned because, by his words, he has an agreement with Silence to be unbanned in exchange for not DDoS'ing.

     

    I'd like to point out a few things:

     

    1. Zilch was unbanned approximately 4-5 hours ago (by my estimates). The server has crashed multiple times since then. So even if Zilch was responsible for DDoS's, his un-banning has had little to no effect in the prevention of such crashes.

    2. Since Zilch's unbanning, and my 3 minutes of playing with him, he has free-killed 4 people, and done nothing but talk about "his" DDoS'ing and how extensively large his ego is.

    3. I work in network security because I have a federal felony for computer hacking (my "experience" got me my job) (proof of this can be provided via PM). With that said experience, I'd like to say that any true hacker wouldn't come back and be like "Ooooh please unban me because I love your server." I call BS.

     

    Zilch is accepting responsibility because he wants attention. Since his un-banning the crashes have continued and he's done nothing but cause other problems in the server.

     

    Out of the 5,000+ CS:S servers out there - if he wants to play CS it's obvious he has plenty of choices.

     

    No real hacker would make the "deal" he claims to have made.

    No real hacker would bitch and moan over being banned from one single CS:S server.

    No real hacker would even use his real identity to allow himself to be banned in the first place.

     

    So either, from my 3 initial points and my 3 "no real hacker" points... it's my opinion that Zilch should be BANNED for general faggotery and that Zilch is not responsible for the DDoS'ing.

    To Zilch: This forum board is by vBulletin, powered by PHP, and programmed in PERL. This domain is registered through GoDaddy with it's registrar privatized by Domains By Proxy, LLC. If you are a real hacker, and capable of anything more then sending large number of packets to a random IP address, I challenge you to appened the end of this post and share MY IP address (I have a static address, so no worries)...

    Since I've made this original post... Zilch has disconnected from the server AND it has started lagging...

     

    Either this is a coincidence, or Zilch is responsible and this is further evidence that he should be re-banned and further action should be taken.

    Complex directions help weed out some of the slower people, but it also encourages rebelers because like you say some people get confused so just give up.

     

    I've got nothing against 2-step orders like "face your cells then 180", but what you said is a little much.

     

    +1 to disallow complex orders over 2 steps.

    My friend had a decent DDoS protection for gaming server that run on linux, might find it. Simple IP blocking but then again, everything helps....

    Well if it's a Linux server you don't need to purchase any additional software. If admins have root access just install SELinux and configure it accordingly and that would be one hell of a first step.

    FortGuard - Professional Anti-DDoS Firewall. Protect your servers from DDoS attack.

     

    Would a program like that run on a game server though? This looks like it's more designed for a web server.

     

    Also, this is a Windows program, the game server is probably Linux, and Linux itself has a number of built-in tools that would help, but I don't know what type of access the admins have.

     

    Finally, a program like this might be to dumb for a game server. There's a lot more traffic to and from a game server than most other types of web servers, so something like this might just pooch everything.
