  1.

For Staff: "Unless a Player is explicitly affecting the Servers (or is otherwise harassing a Player on our Servers) then there is no reason to ban a Player for their actions outside of the Servers. In other words, in order for a Player to be punished, they have to be affecting the Server as a whole, or, and this is a big 'or', they have to be a danger (IE. [verbal] harassment, threats, etc) to any of the Players in the Server (including Staff). Anything above or beyond this is an abuse of power from the Staff (depending on the situation)." Quoted from @Forest, we discussed as higher-ups that this is in fact the best course of action. This debate was sparked due to a ban last week so this should hopefully clear things up, and if you have any questions as moderators/admins, do not be afraid to ask the higher-ups on clarification.

    A bit late, but...

It's sad that this was a problem in the first place. Although I don't get on anymore, and don't know the context of said ban, there's absolutely NO reason to ban someone for something they said while not on xG servers. Power-tripping admins at their finest.

I also don't understand why you would be banned for talking shit about someone who goes on your servers. I'm sure that people have done it to me and vice versa. But I suppose xG is a safe-space now, don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings. ;)

  2. Now I have no clue how sourcebans works so I don't know wtf im talking about in regards to changing it.

But would it even be possible?

I find the system to be fairly... laggy... and somewhat difficult to navigate through. And as for the not being able to tell why someone was banned sometimes thing, do you think a "Details" type section (where the admin would fill out at the least a bare bone form detailing some points to give us a better idea as to why they were banned, rather than "Freekiller" or "scripter") would be even a smart thing to do?

Other than that, honestly my only comment about sourcebans is it feels outdated. Bad navigation and bad looks/response time.

ALSO CAN THERE BE A PERM OPTION FOR MODS PLEASE? I keep having to go to a DM/DL/A to get a ban changed every now and then ._.

Well, there IS actually a sourcebans that is still being updated. And I don't know why we don't swap to a more updated version.

    It features:

    Timed mutes, gags, and silence.

Easier time bans, such as hour, day, week, month, year, etc.

    Example: !ban <user> hour <reason>

It is obviously more cared for, since its being updated. So less of the bugs would exist if we used it.

EDIT: I've used this before in my old surf server, and it all worked fine. Just thought I should include that before people say that, "Oh it's broken!"
