  1. No offense to @Hiryunix congrats I guess even though you never speak to me :[! But I'm starting to see a trend in the promotions in our Team Fortress 2 division. If you look at the latest promo/demo threads, five out of seven of them include people who play on TGH.

This concerns me because some of these promoted players literally only play TGH or their designated server. They know rules well enough, but they don't interact with any of the other servers at all. I don't mean to start a fight here between the whole division, but the whole "I NOMINATE THEE FOR STAFF!!!111!11!" thing isn't the best idea. I think DM+ should take a good, hard look around the servers, maybe even asking staff members about this player or that one.

tl;dr: DM+ please actually look around the servers instead of only having a nomination for who should have staff. It has it's limits when two of the three of four higher ups play on one server *mostly* so they might not even have any idea who the person is that they're voting on.

I mean I had never played surf until I got mod again and now look at me, I'm pretty much the surf admin. I do see what you mean but trust me, just because TGH people are given moderator doesn't mean that they will only play on TGH. Take @BonfireCentipede for example. He goes on every server pretty much and he used to be strictly TGH

I have a lot of faith in my bb gurl @Hiryunix <3

  2. I personally think anything around 8-12 hours on our servers per 2 weeks is fine enough for a person who's not asking for a promotion nor a demotion, it seems that some of my higher up friends disagree with me on this but i honestly find it stupid that we need to treat people like we're paying them to be a staff members when they're voluntarily trying to keep our servers in check

Unfortunately even if you think that 9 or something hours is fine, it's not and that is proven by the previous demotions for inactivity and the other opinions from the higherups. Even if you disagree you need to follow the guideline of having more than 8 hours on the server like the rest of us

  3. im saying inactive staff deserves a little heads up to get active, especially Dethman who hasn't been talked to before. My other comment was just me being sarcastic.

I'm mean Dethman has been inactive for over a month now and the other higherup has been inactive pretty much a 2 weeks or something after you gave him dm

I'm complately fine with warnings for the other staff but personally I feel a demotion was necessary here and I'm sure a lot of other people feel the same way.

I feel like I'm going to cause drama so I apologise in advance :)

  4. Someone appears to have secret insider information here!

Also why is everyone getting angry about this post, should we just demote staff without giving them a chance to improve themselves lol.

Wait, aren't you basically saying that you have already given them a chance to improve themselves and they haven't done so orrrrr

  5. common sense here

Again Inactivity and Lack of activity are two different things

Not really. You're inactive because you have a lack of activity because you haven't been on the servers as much as you should. What are you talking about?

I've been hell active during the whole summer

Irrelevant. That was summer. It's now 2017 Winter, nearing spring.

Now, if you are asking why I was inactive two weeks ago, ask @BlankuChan , He'll tell you that he got informed of my inactivity, and that, was due to the fact that the internet company was doing some repairs on my internet,

Rip Internet You said it would take a bit longer than 2 days. My internet has been 400-1000+ ping every single day when I get home from college and it doesn't stop me from coming on. My internet is getting fixed on the 15th I think and I still come on anyway.

before criticizing my number of bans and punishments, which is really a very ridiculous thing to evaluate a staff on, keep in mind that not every rule breaker is stubborn and that sometimes, a slay and a simple (all chat) message politely written is far more efficient.

You play on surf. I'm pretty sure I have more bans than you since I got admin than you have since you got mod.

I would like to remind the people who forgot, and inform the ones who don't know me, that I live in a country with a different time zone, GMT+1, it's 10:50pm here and should be 4:50 PM in 'New York' as an exemple, and when it's 10 PM in new york, it's 4AM for me, so by complaining about my lack of activity, you are either trying to convince me to move where you live, or join an empty server? or not sleep at all ? and FYI, I'm 24 yo and I have to work in order to survive, so I guess that, that one hour I join from 3AM to 4AM, where I try to keep the server peaceful while we get staff on, is in my opinion enough.

I live in the UK. It is 22:07pm as I am writing this and I still am on as much as I can despite me being at college with 60-100 hours average. This is no excuse considering I have never had activity problems since I joined staff in Summer 2014.

Now, one last thing. Since as @Caleb956 stated, people are under the impression that I'm stopping others from getting staff,

I've been a moderator for a while now, so that shouldn't even be brought up,

What? So what if you've been staff for ages, lik was demoted for inactivity where an admin position was being taken up for no good reason and he had been staff longer than you.

moderate the servers, even if it's not as much as other people.

A lot less. You have the lowest activity out of all the staff members.

EDIT: Posted this as @Aegean posted so didn't see message.

  6. I feel like no matter how many staff the tf2 division has, if the higher ups think a person will make a good staff, then they will be promoted, so you can't go around saying that "oh well you need to be more active because others want a shot at staff". The only thing stopping someone else from getting mod is them having to prove they can handle being a staff member. Granted, I'm not saying staff shouldn't be more active, but as long as they don't have like an hour in the past two weeks in the game, then they should be fine, especially if that person is a DM or DL, since as @Egossi stated, they handle the forums, serverside stuff, etc.

Handing forums doesn't take long. Plus the thing stopping new staff isn't just them being able to handle staff but also the amount of staff members in the first place

my message was directed to nutty, not you

My b but the point still stands

This isn't just going nowhere. I'll pm about if I feel like this needs bringing up because I don't want to cause shit on the forums.

  7. Are you seriously comparing a DL position to a moderator position? A DL can be more active than any of us in terms of fixing the servers, handling major situations etc. while they have no hours in-game, a mod is only supposed to be in-game, which also goes for admins. DMs are also supposed to moderate forums and teamspeak so our activies are also not deemed by just tf2 activity, but mostly forums and partially teamspeak as well

I wasn't the one who compared, that was Nutty. I was talking about higherups in general. You're meant to be active on both forums and servers, not just one.

  8. Again; "inactive" and "not very active" aren't the same thing, I get on when I can, and a warning about my lack of activity would have been very appreciated, a random demotion for Inactivty, that's just too wrong and unfair, cheers !

It's not random. It's completely justified. You should post a reason why you have a lack of inactivity instead of blaming it on being unfair.

I'm glad if you're keeping staff but you can't be doing this. There's plenty of people that want staff and you not being on often isn't exactly the best thing to do as staff. Be more active bro? I don't want you to be demoted <3

  9. Floppy's activity page shows that he has, in fact, been getting on regularly for the past couple of weeks, just not for very long each session. Given everyone else's testimony to his being on, there is some credit to his activity.

@Kypari, if we are going with hours alone, do you not think we should also demote Bello with but 5 hours the past couple weeks? Please don't kill me for throwing you under the bus...

Yes, we changed the rule to be arbitrary as fuck, but where those hours are spent does matter (unless they have like 0 total).

I am not saying all the staff should have that few hours because then this sort of thing happens, but since the change hours alone is a bit more lenient.

Bello's activity should be higher and it's kinda sad that a lot of higherups have way less activity than most staff.

Despite him visiting the servers everyday his hours still prove that he isn't on them enough. I think this should be a final warning and if his time on the servers don't increase then he should be demoted. Floppy is good at his job and it would be a shame to see someone like that go but you can't have inactive staff.

  10. According to the new "active as you can be" rule, I feel it should be more elaborated on as as I said he has been on surf frequently over the last month. Just curious

Ok guys .. if you don´t know me.. I´m always in Surf server, surfing..

as supreme said, I´m seing floppy too in the Surf server..He is active especially at nights, I dont think he´s inactive.

Ok, one, if the person who demoted him actually paid any attention, he's been very active on surf especially in the past week or so. And two, "we removed the rule for 18 hours a week blah blah blah", there has to be another reason for him being demoted. I personally feel like you guys really need to rethink his demotion because that is complete and utter bullshit of a reason, especially when I see him more than some higher ups, and hes the staff i see the most on surf other than vac (and the new mod @Skeletal ).

It seems as though we made a mistake regarding Floppy's actual activity and apologize for that . Thank you everyone who decided to speak up and correct us on that fact.

8.9 hours isn't active. The rule was changed so that if someone is inactive it is because they haven't been seen by staff. However, this does not completely negate your activity within the past two weeks.

Also @Caleb956 I'm definitely on more than Floppy.

Though I believe that Floppy is a good moderator his activity is lacking and that is an issue.
