Competitive Tf2

Recommended Posts

So I was scrimmaging with a 6v6 competitive team the other day and wondered why xG doesn't have a team for that too. We already compete in Highlander, but if we wanted to we could also have a 6v6 team. It doesn't require as many players per team as Highlander and gives other people a chance to compete. Of course, if anyone on the Highlander team wants to join in the fun, that's fine too. :D The 6v6 season begins June 3 and games are held on Wednesdays, so they wouldn't conflict with our Highlander matches.

The core team of a 6v6 crew is composed of 2 Scouts (or "Utilities"), 2 Soldiers (one "Pocket" and one "Roamer"), 1 Demo and 1 Medic. The Scouts are there to distract, hit the Medic or Demo, capture points or fill in as other classes (Pyro, Engi, Sniper, Spy) if the situation calls for it. The Roamer (usually Soldier, occasionally Sniper or Spy) flies around the map raining death on people, but usually aims to take out the enemy Medic or at least force him to pop his Uber early. The Pocket defends the Medic (sometimes switching to Heavy), the Demo dishes out mass damage and the Medic heals everybody. The Demo and Medic rarely switch classes long-term because they're so crucial to the team's success.

Spies aren't used much except to break a stalemate or to cripple the opposing team by taking out a key player (usually a Medic or Demo, sometimes a Heavy or Sniper). Sorrieeee :c

Just to clarify the list in case the classes weren't clear

The following classes are in 6's:

  • Scout 1
  • Scout 2
  • (Pocket) Soldier [with shotgun]
  • (Roaming) Soldier [with gunboats]
  • Demoman
  • Medic

You can change class in 6's (when necessary) when you are:

  • Scout 1
  • Scout 2
  • (Roaming) Soldier
