McNeo 3 Posted June 28, 2012 McNeo, the lead of the xG Help Desk, needs your help with a computer question! Currently I have a single 250GB HDD in my computer which has my OS and all my programs (I have two 1TB externals for storage). The 250 is a SATA II 3.0 GB/s. I want to add a second HDD, a 500GB SATA III 6.0 GB/s HDD. Obv SATA III is twice as fast as SATA II. I also know that running two seperate drives can increase performance. But, here's my question... OS on SATA II drive and programs/storage on SATA III drive? or OS on SATA III drive and programs/storage on SATA II drive? Discuss.
Rhododendron 994 Posted June 29, 2012 Keep OS on old. Use SATA III for stuff like your games and illegal stuffz.
McNeo 3 Posted June 29, 2012 illegal stuffz That goes on the USB3 external so it can dash away and hide if I need it to.

McNeo 3 Posted July 7, 2012 Well, the new 500 GB HDD arrived yesterday. But, my existing 250 GB HDD just failed a test and has some bad sectors. So, now the plan is to just reinstall on the 500 and shit can 250. Or... should I get another new second HDD? I don't really need the space, but would two SATAIII HDD's give a significant performance increase?
Duplolas 1 Posted July 8, 2012 Buy a floppy. Those things can hold some major 8-bit porn on them.
MineCrack 62 Posted July 8, 2012 Put it this way. My normal stash is on my usb. My CP is in my vm. Forgot to mention this has nothing to do with the thread.
