  1. Added a banner since the meme one wasn't wanted :( please dm me your emails @XHina_sanX and @Amylicious that you want NFO access on so we can give you minecraft powers asap! We will not demote any of the mods/admins and let you decide your staff completely for the next promo demo. Best of luck with the division, and please don't be afraid to set up events, and ask for any resources from Rhododendron or Myself

  2. A bit late, but...

It's sad that this was a problem in the first place. Although I don't get on anymore, and don't know the context of said ban, there's absolutely NO reason to ban someone for something they said while not on xG servers. Power-tripping admins at their finest.

I also don't understand why you would be banned for talking shit about someone who goes on your servers. I'm sure that people have done it to me and vice versa. But I suppose xG is a safe-space now, don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings. ;)

You came from the CS:GO side, and this was specifically from the TF2 side lol. On top of that, the tf2 staff are VERY lenient on what people say nowadays, this was just an extreme case. Glad to get your valuable input though after so long!

  3. Can we really pull this off? Lets hope the server we do that in doesnt "automatically restart" when an update comes out nor does it crash randomly

We aren't hosting the servers I'm pretty sure, just sponsoring them via helping provide the prize

  4.

Congratulations to the person who was promoted this Promo/Demo! This is a reminder to the single person who has newly gained access as a Moderator to leave your STEAM ID posted below in the comment section below to ensure the distribution of powers as soon as possible.

    wat?

Copy pasted from last month rofl oops

  5. So, as for member applications, would the +1/-1 system be changed to a simple judgment call based on those who voice their opinions of the member? Or would the +1/-1 thing still be intact with +7 still being the acceptance level?

Details will be out in 2 days, but we will not have a required amount of vouches anymore for membership, but still accept input from our members + staff on whether a player should become a member or not.

  6. Or make it where it's still a month but only need 2-3 Members, 1Admin+, 1 Mod

    Idk

The whole issue is people do not want to wait towards a month just for an answer, they just don't come on xG forums again and look for another communtiy who accepts them. Having a universal application process that accepts people into our community as long as they fit our certain requirements & if no member gives a good reason for someone to be denied a membership is what we want to strive for. If anyone becomes a member and we find out that they actually don't belong, we still have the section for member protests :) Our numbers dwindle as players on our servers try to join our community, don't get accepted within a good period of time, and then forget about us and join another community.

  7. QUALIFY*

Also, does this mean that they get two days instead of 30 to get the full amount of vouches or are we going on majority vote? It seems like a REALLY small time frame. @Aegean

Fixed, and also it is a small time frame but there will not be a vouch requirement anymore, just a requirement based on other things (i.e. server time, age, etc) If you look at other big gaming communities, this is how they structure their membership, and I think although our staff is one of the more strict (which I prefer), our membership process should be much more lenient to reflect a more open community.

  8. @Ruby_da_Cherry @Vexx @Rejects @mrnutty12

What are your thoughts on this. Looking at it it does make sense unless you can use your lvl 99 charisma and tell me and tat otherwise.

I already spoke to the higherups and told them to interact more with their mods/admins so they can get their input for promo/demo. If you guys didn't know, this can be my endorsement that all staff can give their input on nominations for promo/demo that might not be clear to them :)

  9. Congrats, @Hiryunix!

The "Xeno Gamers" is super jpeg'd. Just gotta make the name look crisp. Glad to see you're trying out new banners though!

I didn't realize xG was a font and not a custom logo rofl, I'm downloading the font and will remake the banner and update this one. The news post banner will be a little different

  10. @Vexx @Goblins Fair enough, I edited it out. I just get sick of the group of members who constantly berate me with votes, and will not try to have a respectful conversation about topics and instead are reasons for threads getting closed. Regardless I edited out the comment due to my wrong choice of words.

  11. //Edited out due to rudeness of the context.

Second of all, I do not choose the promotions and demotions. The higher ups who run the divisions, discuss as a team and tell me or add me in the discussion if they want my input. The only time I voice my input is if it's controversial or if I disagree with a promotion/demotion. My post was also about 4ish mods/admins who got mentioned in our promo/demo thread in staff forums.

@Forge You think a higher up should get his activity up? Talk to him, to other higherups, or start a thread about it to voice your concern. You don't need to be vague. Just a reminder that some things are behind the scenes that div's do, so hours on servers are not the sole way for contribution to a division. Regardless, you are more than welcome to voice your concerns, just take it to the proper areas and discuss it appropriately and don't turn it into a shitshow like some of the other members did in the last Promo Demo despite several warnings.

@Goblins the TF2 higherups have been discussing this week on proper guidelines for activity, so it's more clear to all staff.

  12. Why are you guys still posting about this in the promo/demo thread after I stated you all to drop it. I don't mind if it's constructive but that is NOT what is going on in this thread.

This is a gaming community, you have 0 reason to be at each other's throats. At the end of the day, we are all members of the same community and arguing about semantics is uncalled for without context.

Lets make some notes about some things so far:

    • There is no "ban" quota in our community. If anyone deals with rulebreakers properly but there just isn't a lot of rulebreakers for his time on, does that mean he's a bad mod? What kind of logic is this, should he just start banning more people just so you're happy

    • Aside from a few staple ban guidelines, we encourage staff to make their own judgments on bans as context is always important in every situation. I personally do my best to educate a rule breaker on what he did wrong before I throw out bans, so not only is he satisfied, but the rest of the server understands as well. Are you telling me I should ban more people when I do get on just so I look like I'm working properly?

    • Required hours should NOT have stayed at 18 hours, everyone has their own lives and moderating/administrating servers is volunteer work basically, it's not "fun" to deal with rulebreakers and this is not a paid job. We give mod to people who deserve it, and we believe is a benefit to our community. Of course we do expect good activity, but we changed it specifically because having a set time on servers is not appealing for members who want to help out but feel like it's a job rather than a privilege.

    • If he plays off hours which a few members have attested too, and actually moderates instead of just sitting in spec and doing nothing, what is the issue? Clearly he has other members and staff that vouch he's a good moderator.

There are plenty of ways to have a meaningful and constructive discussion without assuming things or being disrespectful. Learn how to do that, or take it elsewhere.

  13. The thing is, this isn't an issue for CS:GO and Floppy is right that:

    • Getting a little heads up about activity should not be a problem for staff to manage,
    • Someone actively getting on for a period of time daily, especially on off hours and actually moderating is enough help. This is why we removed the 18 hour rule in the first place.

Anyways, no reason to continue discussing this here, it's been sorted out and we will do our best to avoid mistakes like this in the future.
