    Unfortunately even if you think that 9 or something hours is fine, it's not and that is proven by the previous demotions for inactivity and the other opinions from the higherups. Even if you disagree you need to follow the guideline of having more than 8 hours on the server like the rest of us

    If a normal user can look at someones TF2 activity and they think, "wow this guy is really inactive", they have every right to complain. The eyes of the community can always be judgemental ones, and they can at any point have their say in the matter. Just because it's determined by higher ups, doesn't mean people cannot voice their complaints about the inactivity, opinions are about the only thing people can give in terms of that. No, there's no point in witch-hunting for demotions, but you shouldn't tell people that they can't voice their opinion on others activity, even if it's wrong sometimes.

    im just saying its ridiculous how much some people care about other people's activity and how obvious it is that they just have their eyes on said person's position or is trying to make themselves look good in the higher ups' eyes

    I have no problem in someone messaging me saying "hey this person has been a little inactive, could you talk to him about that"

    but when someone goes "LOL THIS GUY HAS 7.98 HOURS WHY IS THIS GUY STILL NOT DEMOTED LOL" on a promo demo thread or on a private conversation, it pisses me the hell off

     

    It is of my opinion that DM's and DL's should not be held to same standards of activity on the servers than M's and A's are. This is because it is the job of mods and admins to keep control of the people of the server and handle rule breakers. DM and up take on a bigger role of making sure the server is running smoothly and making sure the server isn't borked. Which means that they should not be expected to have the same server activity as a mod or admin. They should only be demoted if they fail to do their job or just disappear because of work and such as we saw with @Chrono (not throwing him under the bus, he just got a life outside xG. Crazy right?). Idk why everyone is getting all up in arms about the DM/DL activity on the servers when they have responsibilities for the division outside of playing on them. Lol I thought this was common sense, but I guess not.

    I think some people need to be thought that whether a staff member is active enough or not is determined by HIGHER UPS, not by the public's vote. I don't see how you think you have a say in the matter, and why you are striving to get people demoted

     

    I personally think anything around 8-12 hours on our servers per 2 weeks is fine enough for a person who's not asking for a promotion nor a demotion, it seems that some of my higher up friends disagree with me on this but i honestly find it stupid that we need to treat people like we're paying them to be a staff members when they're voluntarily trying to keep our servers in check

    Handing forums doesn't take long. Plus the thing stopping new staff isn't just them being able to handle staff but also the amount of staff members in the first place.

    It's funny cause it's the exact opposite of what you're saying here, handling forums which goes all the way from discussing matters, making/remaking rules or even making rules from scratch, fixing threads/posts, closing threads or resolving reports, it takes just as much time as moderating servers.

    The thing stopping us from promoting a person to mod would depend on nothing other than whether or not we think they can handle it, or in higher promotions whether or not we need them, I don't get why people think there is like a maximum cap of staff we have.

     

    Several posts continuing arguing in promo demo later, after aegean said to take it elsewhere

    I see no problem with this discussion going on as the topic has changed and it's all nothing but constructive now

    It's not random. It's completely justified. You should post a reason why you have a lack of inactivity instead of blaming it on being unfair.

    I'm glad if you're keeping staff but you can't be doing this. There's plenty of people that want staff and you not being on often isn't exactly the best thing to do as staff. Be more active bro? I don't want you to be demoted <3

    He did make a thread about his inactivity, and he has been getting more and more active which is something I personally wasn't aware of because I dont go to surf as often.

    @Kypari, if we are going with hours alone, do you not think we should also demote Bello with but 5 hours the past couple weeks? Please don't kill me for throwing you under the bus...

    Are you seriously comparing a DL position to a moderator position? A DL can be more active than any of us in terms of fixing the servers, handling major situations etc. while they have no hours in-game, a mod is only supposed to be in-game, which also goes for admins. DMs are also supposed to moderate forums and teamspeak so our activies are also not deemed by just tf2 activity, but mostly forums and partially teamspeak as well.

     

    Either way on my part I have and again will apologize to @Floppy for this false reasoning behind your demotion, it is the result of the lack of discussion and for that I also apologize on the behalf of TF2 Higher ups.

    The demotion has been reverted.

    To everyone who is concerned about why we have been promoted although being inactive on the servers, I understand your concerns and Blank and I will try our hardest to show you what a DM should be actually doing rather than just doing what an admin can on the servers, which is why I believe we were promoted in the first place. It is true that I haven't been as active on our servers because of my school, timezone difference and other obstacles in life. But I personally will make as many contributions as I can. Thanks for having faith in me.
