  1. @Egossi from what I know @Bleed has been dedicating time to fixing stuff on the TF2 side, and @Nomulous is coming back in Sept so TF2 will be more than taken care of soon. Definitely let them know what's going on or make a thread on the TF2 section and tag them

@Bleed did try helping out but ended up with no access to tf2 server plugins, but if nomulous is coming back then there should be no problem

  2. come on guys we've been waiting for a hub for so long now

nah but on a serious note we need some changes with our jailbreak plugin and nobody is helping out so if anyone with source code access can message me on steam i can explain all the stuff (again)

    @Lithium @Bleed @Rhododendron @Bello @Rejects @kbraszzz @Scootaloo

  3. In the end, having the option to submit an application is better than not having the option at all

I see your point, I guess even though pretty much every staff submission I've seen has been unnecessary and unsuccessful, having the option to make staff submissions is still a good thing as it has the potential to let the higher ups know about good staff material

Another EDIT: Hate to be an annoyance, I know this post is long enough as it is, but for the record; if a Higher-Up could post what they've changed or included in threads like the "Moderator Rule" one, it would be greatly appreciated as opposed to just making an edit and expecting everyone to know about it afterwards without little to no warning or announcements.

yeah for real, i guess the donation necessity for making staff submissions are removed now which was an option that has been demanded in the first place, that's better

  4. You're misunderstanding what a donation essentially is. A donation is a contribution made to benefit a cause, in this case to further the growth of Xeno Gamers. That's great and all, but donating is typically done of free-will and not because someone is obliged to do it. In this scenario, in order to just apply for Staff Membership, a user has to donate. There are no 'ifs' 'ands' or 'buts', if you don't "donate" then you don't have the privilege to apply for Staff. This, in and of itself, isn't donating. It's just masking the underlying "if you want this perk, you have to pay to get it" mentality. No matter how it's worded, people are being forced to have to pay to submit a Staff Application, plain and simple.

I guess I see it that way since I also feel that the whole idea of staff applications' existance is really dumb, to be honest if someone wants staff they should just be picked by the higher ups and that should be it.

I really don't see the need for anyone to make a staff submission since there can be no good reason for it other than the guy being too impatient or unfit for staff, we already eliminate the staff submissions from people who are inactive and unfamiliar with higher ups so I honestly think it's the most unnecessary option we have on the forums

here are some fresh examples of the kind of staff submissions I'm talking about, and take note that these are the only TF2 staff submissions that I've checked this year, and every single staff submission I've seen so far has been dumb as fuck

Submissions from people that are way too impatient (and maybe a little egotistic (@Bach)) to let others know that they are either active again, or they are willing to be active again if they get staff

    Hero - Team Fortress 2

    Shwoos - Team Fortress 2

[xg] Bach - Team Fortress 2

    Moosty - Team Fortress 2

[xg] Avenger - Team Fortress 2

    Cr1tikal - Team Fortress 2

Submissions from little kids that we don't even know

Danger Ham - Team Fortress 2

    ☮vibes☮ - Team Fortress 2

    Xenofox - Team Fortress 2

Vriska Serket - Team Fortress 2

Submissions from people who are (or were) often considered to be unfit for staff

Chef Shadower - Team Fortress 2

    Tomahawk - Team Fortress 2

    Snowyminion - Team Fortress 2

    Shitposts

    Xg| Chef Shadower - Team Fortress 2

    Caleb956 - Team Fortress 2

Actual good one that was awkwardly handled and ended up being closed

    [xg:m] Thesupremepatriot - Forum

Like I said, these are literally every staff submission that I've seen this year and all of them were either terrible from the beginning, or were handled terribly

If it was up to me I'd just remove the option of staff submissions as a whole

  5. 4. Why so? The concept of buying a job has always made little sense to me, especially when it's as stressful and difficult as being an xG staff member. Not only do few people appreciate what you do, but a lot of people don't really respect you unless you lift up the banhammer and dangle it over their head. It's a good thing, choosing to do that sort of thing. It's a bad thing to -HAVE- to pay for it, which again, I was under the impression that paying was mandatory.

The thing is, I don't see it as just buying the staff application privilege. You're donating for the clan's upkeep after all, which you get awarded with the ability to apply for staff membership, in the case you are too impatient to show people that you are active and staff-worthy. Which is also why I don't get why @Vector and @BelloWaldi think it's dumb, if it was how @Kitsune assumed it worked before, it would indeed be really fucking dumb.

I guess I'm just being too optimistic since I have no problem with giving more money to my favorite jewboy @Silence?

  6. Will adding donating to the requirements really filter out bad staff members?

You do realize that the donation rule is for people who make staff applications right? And that mainly happens because those people can't get promoted by the higher ups due to them either being untrustable with powers either due to their lack of recognition or troubles they may have caused in the past, or them being seen as immature or unfit for staff position.

What about the people who can't donate due to financial issues, or a lack of a proper platform to pay with? (Paypal, Mastercard, etc..)

If you're in a financial situation or if you simply don't want to donate, all you have to do is show that you are capable of staff membership to the TF2 higher ups, it's really not that hard.

I can partially see a reason for donations, but locking the ability to moderate and help keep a community peaceful behind them just seems wrong to me. Why not keep the focus on the silly hats and walking bananas? Shouldn't you pay for perks, not for a job?

It's not entirely being "locked", you have clearly misunderstood.

See, that's a problem. xG needs more money, but donations for staff positions are only gonna come up once and a while, and once you donate, you never have to do that again. People are gonna throw their money at silly perks, not a painful, arduous job that is, nine days out of ten, thankless.

that's kind of a rude thing to say if you ask me

  7. He may have been good at his job, but if Admin wasnt good enough for his ego, he didnt need to be a higher up in the first place. You cant always start at the top and quit when it gets hard, thats not how life is. RIP

RIP your reputation on the xG forums indeed

    Congrats @xGShadowSpy

    Goodbye @Snackbar
