Valve Now Blacklisting A Bunch Of Community Servers.

Recommended Posts

Valve is apparently banning server tokens that run plugins that have custom weapon models. they are also banning servers that give people items that you they don't have in their inventory (IE: !takeknife), which is nothing new. But some people are saying that servers are getting banned even for having some disabled plugins.

Just thought I'd share it with xG.

P.S: Might wanna watch out for premium skins and stuff for shop, look at top comment of /r/Games post:

"CS:GO community servers provide valuable experiences to players and communities, and are serving more players than ever before. Over the past month, 3.1 mln unique players were observed playing on community servers and this number keeps growing each month.

We're aware that some server operators are offering to their players false inventories and/or profiles as a free or paid service via mods on their servers. These mods inaccurately report the contents of a players' inventory and/or matchmaking status, devaluing both and potentially creating a confusing experience for players.

Therefore, we are asking server operators to remove any mods and plugins that falsify the contents of a players' profile or inventory.

To be clear, the services that should not be offered on a community server include (but are not limited to):

Allowing players to claim temporary ownership of CS:GO items that are not in their inventory (Weapon skins, knives, etc.). Providing a falsified competitive skill group and/or profile rank status or scoreboard coin (e.g., Operation Challenge Coins). Interfering with systems that allow players to correctly access their own CS:GO inventories, items, or profile.

If your server provides any of the above services then we request that you disable them. If for some reason you are unable or unsure of whether a particular plugin should be removed, feel free to contact us.

We will continue to monitor the players experience on community servers, and may reevaluate if further actions need to be taken to ensure that server operators comply with the request above.

Thanks,

The CS:GO Team"

To clarify, !takeknife is not banned. That email was sent months ago, and everyone was given weeks to remove the plugins. It was directly said by Vitality (A CS:GO dev) that the plugin is allowed. This is likely allowed because in the bottom right it will say "Bleed's Butterfly Knife | Blue Steel", as opposed to giving fake knives, which will show the person carrying it as the owner when they don't really "own" it.

We are not running any custom viewmodels, or any plugin that gives you a custom knife (Butterfly, m9, etc). We have no plans on implementing anything like this anytime soon. Though it should be said that they said that custom content is fine. This was before the method for using custom viewmodels was discovered. It's currently unclear whether this is allowed or not. Many servers that were banned were running this, but this could be a coincidence.

We can't conclusively say that plugins that modify viewmodels are doing this, nor can we say that disabled plugins are doing it. Deathmatch servers that run only Deathmatch Goes Advanced and AFK kickers have been banned as well. These servers have never ran anything that modified knives or viewmodels. It's possible they just did another wave based upon tags.

Our servers have not been banned, and we have taken precautions to make sure it stays that way.

Yeah, nothing new here. Since these are presumably wrongful bans this time around, even if something happened there's not much we could do about it until valve responds to the issue on the mailing list.
