You are right. The host put the password on the server for a verification test, because of the ddos. My guess is if the ddos continue, then the host will also put a password on surf.

It has nothing to do with you. If it was we could see it in the ban logs, or block logs. The server is down, it says the same to me in console when i try to connect.
