Alright the l4d2 server is up. Afew highlights about the server is... It's connected to our ban-list and can continue to ban greifers. The tickrate is unlocked to 66 for an huge performance boost. It supports any game-mode via loby patching. Custom maps can be loaded onto the server and run. SMAC (Source-mod Anti-Cheat) is run to automatically ban hackers. Tons of bug and exploit fixes (yes the speed climbing is patched) Doesn't contain any major game changing plugins. (people often complain about modded servers) To use it host an lobby with an game-mode of your choice. Set the lobby to Best Available and type the following command in console. > mm_dedicated_force_servers 216.52.143.25:27015 It can be patched to when empty, and will be shown on Xeno Gamers.

@Rhododendron Is there room on the main clan hosting for an single 8 slot l4d2 server? I got an awesome build laying around which improves gameplay quality. Even with an 66 tick-rate unlock, its only half an reg servers CPU usage. (Windows also memory leaks unlike Linux)

So, I was looking through chats logs the other day and yours stuck out. Just about every other message was trolling, trash talking or in some cases telling people to f*ck off. While the occasional troll or trash talk will likely get ignored, every other message is far to frequent. This is not acceptable on [xG] Nuclear Dawn servers. Since the ban is only two days and you took the time to make an nice apologetic protest, I've removed the ban early. Hopefully you've learned from this experience and never end up on the ban-list again. ~Thread Closed~

Submit your moderator application here. This needs to be done on our forums because everyone has the right to post an protest an ban. All applications not using this format will be declined, you may ask for clarification. The deadline has been extended indefinitely for posting these. All applications will be reviewed in January of the following year. Moderator Application Format Steam Name: Your Steam Name. Steam Profile Link: Private is fine. Time: How long have you played on our server for? Frequency: How often can you spend on the server per week? At-least one hour is recommended, short term leaves are allowed. Are you available to be come on immediately when online, if stickz is offline. Experience: Any previous moderating experience you have. Vouchers: Who do I know that can vouch for you? (multiples are recommended) Explanation: What would make you an good moderator? Sample Moderator Application Steam Name: Stickz Steam Profile Link: Steam Community :: ᵡᴳḽᴰ >>Stickz<< Frequency: I can spend three hours per weak on the server. I may occasionally miss a few weeks however. I'll gladly join the server when my steam status is online if required for a few minutes. Time: Three Years. (notice the proper grammar) Experience: I have moderated gmod morbus for almost four months now. Vouchers: Name one, Name two, Name three. Explanation: As an moderator I am generally very relaxed. I ignore unimportant things such as swearing (so long as it causes no offense to anyone) and stand firm on the big things such as; selling out spawns to force an round end and players who are harassing one anther. I understand that offenders may say negative things about me, but never take it personal. I never dramatically increase the sentence when they do this, but do use it as an weight factor within reason. I never drop the ban when people start begging or post rudely on the forums, due to the fact they learn nothing from it. My goal is for people to learn from their mistakes and not commit anther offensive. If offenders take the time to nicely make an protest on the forums and acknowledge what they did wrong, I'm more than willing to reduce an major sentence or drop an minor sentence.

When you connect the code of conduct is on the welcome screen that pops up. Furthermore, you can reopen it by typing !motd in chat or simply going here Redstone MOTD :: ND Battle Society outside of the game. Since you created an protest on our forums, were polite and recognized what you did wrong, I'm removing your ban two days early. Xeno Gamers ~Issue Resolved~ ~Thread Closed~

@Guardian Firstly, I would like to clear up the misconception that you were banned for killing an commander becuase that absolutely is not the case. That is part of the game and perfectly acceptable. When you get an chance, take an look over your personal chat log located here. Xeno Gamers - Player Chat History I wait to hear an reply back after you've picked out the reasoning behind your temporary ban.

https://bans.xenogamers.com/index.php?p=banlist&advSearch=STEAM_0:1:5897337 &advType=steamid Look over your chat log, maybe this will give you more insight as to why you were banned. It's not ok to just straight up tell someone to 'fuck off'. Your attitude on our forums definitely isn't helping your case. I'm put in an tough spot right now, do I drop the ban after harassing people on Redstone and doing "slow caps" + "no hard feels" on our forums or do I keep it as is? I'll be honest, had you nicely asked what you did wrong, got an response from me then apologized for it, I would have dropped the ban instantly. Instead it played out as "*slow clap*, unban please", "xg owns the servers". Here's what's going to happen. Your ban length is going to be reduced to three days. As an administrator, I don't think one week is an fair sentence. Should you get banned again for harassment and troll like this on the forums, I will close the thread instantly without even reading it. edit: You committed the act and you're therefore responsible for it. I'm not obligated in any way to prove my case or even discuss this with you. ~Issue Resolved~ ~Thread Closed~

Redstone has an zero tolerance policy for harassment. (which is clearly labeled on the MOTD when you connect) Consider treating players with more respect next time. Clipped this from your own personal chat log located here. [xG] Redstone #1 | Frankfurt | 10P/20Bots Personally, I like clearing these things up before they become much more serious offensives, that are often bans for weeks at an time. Because you posted on our forums, I'm removing your three day ban one day early. Xeno Gamers ~closed~

Request for a new chat rule regarding keybind usage.
Vertex replied to Kittylicious's topic in TF2 Discussion
yah yah, just let people spam chat all they want while admins are offline. Like who cares right? Someone can just pop on an key binding and start advertising their server so fast and frequently that it overpowers everyone else. (at an rate of 1 chat message per second) -

Alright just made an plugin which automatically gags someone until map end for sending the same chat message more the set amount (sm_spamlimit, default 3) of times in an row. Enjoy ;) Of course it's up to the tf2 div leader if this gets added, but just though I'd share this code i'll be using on the Nuclear Dawn servers. > #include <sourcemod> new bool:g_CanUseChat[MAXPLAYERS + 1] = {true,...}; new String:lastMessage[MAXPLAYERS + 1][192]; new sameMessageCount[MAXPLAYERS + 1]; new Handle:g_cvarSpamLimit = INVALID_HANDLE; public OnPluginStart() { AddCommandListener(Command_Say, "say"); g_cvarSpamLimit = CreateConVar("sm_spamlimit", "3", "limit the number of same consecutive messages before gag."); } public OnMapStart() { clearLastMessages(); } public Action:Command_Say(client, const String:command[], argc) { if (!g_CanUseChat[client]) { PrintToChat(client, "[xG] You cannot use chat until next map due to spamming!"); return Plugin_Handled; } else { decl String:text[192]; GetCmdArgString(text, sizeof(text)); if (StrContains(lastMessage[client], text, false) == 0) { sameMessageCount[client]++; if (sameMessageCount[client] == GetConVarInt(g_cvarSpamLimit)) { g_CanUseChat[client] = false; PrintToChat(client, "[xG] You cannot use chat until next map due to spamming!"); return Plugin_Handled; } return Plugin_Continue; } else { sameMessageCount[client] = 0; lastMessage[client] = text; return Plugin_Continue; } } } clearLastMessages() { for (new idx = 1; idx <= MaxClients; idx++) { lastMessage[idx] = ""; g_CanUseChat[idx] = true; } } -

Would be simple to make an server plugin that automatically gags the person for repetitively using the same message. Also, there's an anti-flood plugin which comes with sourcemod which enforces an set delay between chat messages. The sm_flood_time cvar can be increased to enforce an higher delay to combat key bindings. One second usually works good instead of the default 0.75 seconds. -
Got some suggests to improve the new layout. Would be nice if... The emotions (ratings) were merged with the status bar. (ie post time, post # etc). Possibly with the checkbox, name and post time on the right and emotions on the left. The profile picture and/or name could have an toggle option for either steam or forum default. The forum tags (ie. member, donator etc) were placed bellow the name. The 'Forums' sub-menu (ie. mark read, search etc) disappeared when the client isn't hovering over it. Maybe at-least just an scroll feature. The green bar was merged with the black one. Maybe with the profile pic setup like twitter but with the mailbox, flag and credits bellow the name. The about us (at the bottom of the page in black) was moved to the far right. (makes more sense) The facebook, twiter, youtube, home, contact, help, terms etc was merged with 'about us' in the black (at page bottom) The style chooser put on the copyright bar. (remove the need for anther bar) The client status was placed bellow to name. (remove the need for the top bar) The 'XenoGamers' logo was moved to the top right corner of the screen The ad(s) were placed on the side of the page. (allows for 2 or more and reduces scrolling) p.s. I just used AdBlock on chrome to construct an more organized forum layout. Its as simple as right clicking on the form features you don't like and blocking them. If you think this looks good, it can be made even better with suggestions above. Near the bottom of page where it says "Xeno Gamers v8", you can change that to "Default Style". This will restore a lot of the older layout functionaility.

Theme has some nice new features, but one thing i'm not really an fan of is the background on the 'Xeno Gamers' text. Also, bans.xenogamers.com and rank.xenogamers.com almost feel detached from the website because the top header stuff doesn't carry over.

It's not an good idea to pile your list up with bad champs. This becomes an problem when you go to play Randoms (ARAM) due to the fact you only have so many re-rolls to get a good champ. The difficulty is indicated on the champs themselves, beyond say level 15 it's best to start looking at higher IP camps. The 3 lower IP champs I'd recommend are Master YI, Ashe and Sivir. They won't conflict with re-rolls, are very easy to understand and will still be useful at level 30. (thus saving IP for other champs) I'm currently level 30 and still use these champs every now and then because with the right team, they can be very effective.

Bringing this back to the actual point of the topic before the bombing started... My take on this is that anyone who joins an clan server should feel respected, regardless of who they are. If they don't immediate administrative action should be authorized. (far beyond just kicking the person if required) Harassment and discrimination is ban-able for long periods of time on all the clan servers I run (Nuclear Dawn, Natural Selection 2 and GMOD Morbus). Major offensives I often ban for at-least an week, repeat offenders are permanently banned. For Nuclear Dawn in particular, I'll usually look over the chat logs daily and ban directly from there. This can sometimes be more effective than moderating for hours at an time. I'll usually just flat out say to someone who's doing this "I can drop you from the server if you're going to treat people like this". From there, they'll ether stop (which is good) or tell me to fuck off. (which I'll ban them for an week or 2)

Section v) of the Redstone Code of Conduct was violated. Purposely depopulating Redstone servers by stomping new players is no longer allowed. Play with people at your own skill level or don't play at all. I'm getting tired of watching you empty every Redstone server I try to populate and/or new players join to learn the game. Also, DO NOT purposely team stack on the team with the higher skill level. The team balancer is NOT to be circumvented/bypassed/dodged in any way shape or form. This ruins the game for everyone on the server and is not acceptable. I've had to temporary ban you in the past for doing this. If you can't be trusted to be the server without an admin present, you will be denied access permanently. Permanent ban is abit of an overstep, so I've reduced it to 2 weeks. -closed
-
I'm going to drop the ban because it's not his fault the CT Ban-list isn't working. Feel free to put it on CT once this issue gets resolved. -closed
-
Unbanned because you left the steam group. You're however subject to re-ban if you rejoin that group. -closed
-
So you were banned two years ago for mass free-killing on an clan counter strike server. Could someone from the CSS Division move him to the CT Ban-list (with all the other freekillers) and drop the global ban afterwards? I see no valid reason in using an global ban for game specific related offenses. Google translator is speaking it for him. Based on ban information he's actually an Russian player.
-
+1 It can vary depending on the division. Not to mention, people shouldn't be making rules for servers they never step foot on.
-
Jealous? Why do you go make an WoW server... Oh yeah forgot you can't :( So, there's an l4d2 server floating around that's full of bug fixes and connected to the ban-list. If you ever get tired of playing with greifers, can always just patch an entire best available lobby to it. (available for anyone to use) Think there's about 100+ permanent bans I casted from it. These bans are comprised of idiots who like to ruin people's games and have never reached our other servers. (intention is clear as only 3% protest their ban and get it removed) Not costing an dollar extra to run. (shared hosting with other servers)

Alright i'll take an look at the temple map when I get the chance. Thanks for letting us know.
