You can set any number of days you want, on a silence duration. I'm almost sure anyone would rather be silenced for the same duration or longer, than not be able to play for one day..
-
I think @Forest could have worded his post better. There's a way to punish people for abusing the call admin feature, without banning them from the server. A custom duration (over a week if needed) could be set on a silence. Then the "call admin" plugin could be told, not to allow the person to use it while silenced. If anything, you guys could punish people for longer for abusing call admin, because you wouldn't have to worry about setting a fair ban length. And there would be less people getting banned from the server, which would make players happier overall. Just a suggestion though, that @Forest and others has expressed strong support for.

I'm going to close out this thread. Alternative discussions should be made elsewhere. The user who started thread is intentionally trying to ruin the server experience for everyone, because he doesn't like how things are run; more specially, he thinks to be above everyone else and that harsher banning practices should be used, for first time offenders. Any further major offenses or testing of banning policies "to see what moderators do" will result in stronger repercussions. It's approaching the third strike (ban) so likely 30 days onward. I consider spamming the light switch a major offense that warrants a ban without warning because it's very disruptive and has already received a previous ban plus five slays. If a moderator is unsure if you're spamming the lights due to things like interval changes (rule loopholing), they will default to yes after multiple cycles in a short time-span. > 3 hours -> 3 days -> 30 days -> 300 days Edit: It's difficult but not impossible to get a server ban on Morbus, but once you get two or three (in a short period) you'd better look out!

People are feeling a bit of a disconnect with Morbus. That's why TTT to on the to-do-list to help bring people back together again. A key difference between old and new gmod was having different server types, that a lot of the key clan-base found more enjoyable. It's important to note, that we need to start somewhere and Morbus was that starting place. A lot of server content and scripting resources have been created, that are in the process of being moved over to TTT. There's tons of things that have happened from an infrastructure stand-point to make expanding the Garry's Mod division more successful. Anywhere from a global donation system to scoreboards and loading screens. It's bias to say that I promote however, but that is not the case. When there's a single-served division (which is why that needs to change) the division is small. Everyone knows each other and we often all join the team-speak channel and discuss who would be good for a moderator position. It's easy to just pass or pin the blame on one person, without looking at the bigger picture. Division managers have done a good job with communication, but as you know first hand most aren't permanent. I'm the server guy, who responds where i'm asked a question and works on the back-end to improve things much like rhodo does with the website. I've tried to do both, but balancing them has never worked. If there's one thing you could take from this response, it's that i'm trying and always listening to feedback.

The steam group is integrated with the steam client people play on the server with. It's a powerful tool for shipping notifications to clients and populating the server. Otherwise, it's mainly used for quick questions or posting links to player models people want on the server. Longer posts like feedback threads, the forums work better for. There's pros and cons to both. You can't just invite someone to be instantly signed up on the forums, like what can be done with a steam group during prep-rounds. Something like updating a staff roaster is a task an assistant like a division manager should be performing. My time is limited and valuable due to programming skills. So improving the server experience is always going to be set at a higher priority than updating the staff roaster. There's no dm currently, if there was it would be done already. Currently there's nobody willing from other divisions that's active on Garry's Mod. That's why launching TTT will change things, by sparking more interest. I'm always looking for more staff. There are multiple moderators currently, but that's the only task they wish to perform. Garry's Mod is a huge positive having the game-server and the moderators. The only thing missing is the human resource element appointing a division manger could fix this, but there has to be someone willing to perform the task and stay in-touch with the community. A couple have expressed they're only willing to do this for TTT when it's launched. Multiple servers will be the key factor in the future, to create the type of clan involvement TF2 has, while maintaining all the positives of running things differently.

I think there's an event somewhere that can be hooked when the entity is triggered. I'll likely get around patching this exploit eventually, when times permits.
-
The only person who's no longer moderator currently is yourself. The activity of other moderators is actually increasing with server activity. When I drop into spectator, the light switch spamming stops. I have to find more clever ways to tell who's doing it, without giving any indication they're being watched.

Things are progressing nicely on Garry's Mod. TTT should come up *eventually* and improve forum activity. And Morbus has a very nice donator system now with server content. There's definitely a lot the clan can do to become more involved with this division and learn quite a few things about improving moderation and population while doing it. I have little time to deal with everything myself with a new semester starting in a few days. But I will say this, it seems a bit hypocritical to criticize something you've never really played on and don't know the circumstances to. Forum activity was definitely better with division managers around, but at the same time they need to be able and willing to hold the position; without comprising the server's player-base. There's always room for improvement, but sometimes difficult decisions need to be made, to ensure things keep moving forward in the right direction.

Gringo was demoted because of his inability to follow server rules. And unwillingness to improve his ways when it came to moderation. The forum tag was never removed. Maker slayed you for spamming the lights and it instantly stopped. Given how you were slayed five times a couple days ago for doing the same thing, the next required step was a three hour server ban. I was informed this protest was being made for the troll of it. And the three day server ban today for ghosting the names of brood aliens in all chat and mass rdm won't be getting removed early. You'll have to sit it out. I will not be as lenient, if you come back and do it again, after the ban has expired. Extra steps are being taken to make ban evasion virtually impossible. You may not agree with how things are run, but that doesn't give you the right to come on the server and ruin the game for everyone. Friend or not if someone is breaking server rules, they'll be moderated fairly and equally. You've been given every possible chance to stop it. It's not recommended heading down this direction.

This seems like a case of "okay, I can't spray nudity. I'm going to find the next worse thing, that I perceive as allowed." The problem is - even if it was allowed, it would still be causing discomfort, to the server experience for some users. The best advice I can give, is to not border-line rules. They're not set in stone and are constantly changing. The defensive of "this isn't against the rules" may not slide. We could decide to make it against the rules in a heartbeat. If it fits basic guidelines, like causing a disruption to game-play or triggering a reasonable amount of understandable discomfort. But in all fairness, we would clarify the rules and reverse any lasting moderation, if this happened. And anything that required us to increase server bans, would get veto'd unless absolutely necessary. I've gone ahead and removed the spray restriction. Your spraying access has been restored. Thanks for creating a spray ban protest on our forums. We're always willing to respond and look for a beneficial ways to clear up misconceptions. ~Thread Closed~

I nicely asked you in-game to stop spraying that sexually suggestive spray, as the anime model is posing in a sex position. You were persistent and continued to spray it, so a spray ban was issued. I'm more than willing to remove the spray ban, if you stop spraying that. And refrain from spraying inappropriate things in the future, when asked to stop by a server moderator. Anything that is obscene, pornographic or sexually suggestive, is highly likely to draw a moderator's attention. If something is sexually exploit and contains a limited degree of nudity, it *may* slide but don't count on it.

The Morbus server is geared more toward a vanilla game-play experience. And certain models like the second one, steer the server in the wrong direction. We tried adding similar models in the past, but ultimately decided to remove them. There are custom weapons and tons of other content like things for the pointshop; but, they're all very polished and feel like they naturally belong inside the game-mode. That doesn't mean a future TTT server or even anther Garry's Mod server won't steer in a different direction though. I'm willing to add a 2mb version of the first model, if the helmet can be taken off, in a way that's compatible with the pointshop. But the second one would need saved for anther gamemode, or converted into a brood alien model, if we go down that road in the future

The ban length was only one day. It has long since expired. We're very progressive on Morbus, and don't do long bans for RDMing. (if we ban at all) I think this should be a lesson learned for you, not to let your younger siblining use the steam account. If this actually happened, the excuse card wouldn't change anything. Thanks for creating a ban protest on our forums. We're always willing to discuss with players why they got banned. And work toward a resolution, that is beneficial to both the player and the community. ~Thread Closed~

We're pretty picky for player models. The first one is over 8mb which is too large for client download times. And the second one is too close to an brood alien model because there's no visible human face. I just edited my first post with example accepted models.
-
I'm adding custom player models to the pointshop on Garry's Mod. If anyone would like to request a model, post a link bellow. Morbus is currently fully supported and TTT will have support as well before the server is launched. Edit: Example accept list of player models. List of Accepted Player Models :: MorbusXG Edit2: Example of denied or put on hold player model requests. List of Deined Player Models :: MorbusXG

I just have to fix up source-bans and the loading screen then I'll unlock the TTT server. I've completed everything else, only took about 45m. Waiting on a response to a private message I sent @Rhododendron for important information.

Yeah staffing is literally the only issue holding back TTT currently; more specially, a division manager to run everything except for server operation. I still think regardless of what people say, there will always be someone posting for DarkRP, even though that is completely unobtainable currently for various reasons. That gamemode would require TRIPLE the amount of staffing as TTT for back-end server operation. Logs are not an issue. One of the Morbus improvements for RDM logs, was to dump them to a text file. Then view the full history with a ftp:// (instead of http://) handle through a web browser. One thing that was on my to-do-list (but I never got around to it) was log condensation. The idea being to combine multiple concurrent instances of damage, from the same player, where possible. This would prevent console overloads in long rounds and further simplify viewing. The string handling and table indexing for that was deemed complex and time consuming, which is why it was pushed to low priority. Long story short for Garry's Mod. TTT - Yes, just have to get staffing for this server. Zombie Survival and Morbus revival would likely be the next easiest thing after TTT. DarkRP - Flat out NO, stop asking. It's not by any means obtainable currently.

Nuclear Dawn is a really good game to play on weekends and to get for $2.00 USD on sale. Expect it to go on sale in December 2016. Redstone has been around for about five years now. It's a really good server that hosts the game's playerbase. It's definitely way better than your average or typical game server. It's piled with mountains of amazing code and is hosted in a very good worldwide location. (with amazing networking)

Soon as someone capable will step up to manage moderation, population and the forums; TTT can be setup and launched. It's really not that difficult, just time consuming. I've been doing this stuff for about seven years and have no problem giving pointers, about how to be a good left-wing moderator. There's an amazing configuration waiting for TTT that just needs updated with the latest GMOD improvements from Morbus. My favourite part of the configuration is a powerful exponential equation that reduces RDMing by 80%, without having to cast a single ban. It strips away the client's damage (karma) until they have none left. Then recalls it each map, so they have to earn it back by playing properly. > function KARMA.GetDF(ply) local k = 1000 - ply:GetLiveKarma() local df = 1 - 0.00004 * (k ^ 1.5685) return df end

I've been too busy lately with College to worry about populating Morbus. Agegean is right that very minimal resources are being used on Nuclear Dawn and GMOD. (ND only uses stats, fastdl and MySQL databases [About a chocolate bar worth each month]) If someone wants to step up and manage a TTT division, they're more than welcome to. There's nothing stopping someone like MineCrack, who's "all talk and no action" from managing TTT. I just don't have time to deal with problematic things like RDMing or prop killing. I'm not by any means holding the title, so nobody else can't run a sub server. I also have no problem working behind the lines to code and manage server operation.

Thanks for creating a ban protest! We always willing to discuss with players why they got banned. You are responsible for your account and shouldn't be handing it over to people you do not trust. The length of your ban was set to two weeks. It was a typical case of semi-mass rdm.
