  1. Hell, booting up from Hiren's Boot CD might even work. All you need is a flash drive, self control, and you should be good. It worked at my school.
  2. Welcome. Might I suggest Garry's mod and TTT?
  3. I suggest running Derek's Boot and Nuke. That always gets rid of viruses and malware.
  4. To clear things up, yes this is for the GMod division only, as that is the only server that I play on. Also, I may have misunderstood the submission rules. I got the impression that the first part was talking about all divisions not specifically listed, and that the Gmod submission rules superseded that. My apologies if I was wrong. EDIT: Upon looking up the donation rules for Gmod, Charrax has stated that they do not work currently. Xeno Gamers EDIT 2: In order to clear up any confusion of whether I need to or need not donate, I donated $10 to the generic XenoGamers area, as the Gmod donations are not working.
  5. I have been on for a month and know and follow the rules well. Apart from that, I do get on the server quite a bit when there isn't an admin or moderator on (LAAAATE at night usually) and I believe that I could help make sure that people will follow the rules. That is all.
  6. Just an FYI to the people I normally play with, I will have difficulty being on xG as I have several new games to play, and several old friends are in town and I will be playing with them, which likely means I will be on a different server when I am on Gmod. I will be back soon as soon as a regular schedule in my life begins.
  7. I spent it watching 90's movies. Notably, Heat with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.
  8. with a dragon dildo apparently.
  9. Dang, I'd gladly trade my ISP for any of the ones mentioned. My upload speed is 1mb on a good day...
  10. My score was 0. Beat that.

  15. Although, like Ernie said, the 560 ti is outperformed by a lot of newer cards, the 560 ti is an amazing card. It runs just about every game at max settings and with a very respectable fps. I would try and go with that card, but I will say it does eat power, so if you get that card, make sure you get a nice power supply. Aftermarket cooling shouldn't be necessary, but might be something to think about as well.
  16. @Brian Everything is pretty decent, but I would like to persuade you to go with an Intel processor. AMD is fine, and they make great things, but Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge have great benchmarks and are a great way to go. That being said, they are more pricey so it is up to you, but if you want these parts to not have problems running games and programs in a few years, get a Sandy.

    COD or Halo?

I happen to be a Battlefield fan-boy, my apologies. If I had to choose between CoD and Halo, it would likely be Call of Duty. Halo is great to screw around with friends though, no lies.
  18. Maybe if you are using every single kb on your HDD then maybe it will affect speed, but 99.9999999% of the time it doesn't. RPM is what is important. 7200+ is ideal.

    Game of the Year?

Borderlands 2 or FarCry 3. The Dunia 2 Engine is sick.

  21. That is NOT a hardware problem. Viruses are security/software/user errors, not the computer. As to how much space they take up, that's a definite problem if you live in a small apartment or a small dorm. I would like to point out that in your original post, you said that not many Desktops have Windows 7, or an i5/i7 processor. There are 10 times more i5/i7 processors for desktops than for laptops (Maybe hyperbole, but the fact is there are many more). Also, if the desktops you have seen don't have Windows 7 on them, then it's clear that you are not looking in the right places. Try Newegg, and definitely try building your own desktop. If the space problem and portability problem are major no's, then go with a laptop. My honest opinion is that a desktop will outperform laptops any day. I have an eight year old desktop that gets the same benchmarks on all tests as my friends 2 year old laptop. Let that sink in for a bit.

Or the rapture thing from two months ago, or the rapture thing from when every other crazy person out there thinks he can predict the future end of the world.
  23. Restating what everyone else said, but desktops are better. For the reasons they listed as well as an ultra-customizable...well, everything. Yes you can go to websites and customize a laptop. You can do that to a desktop for half the price.
