FacepalmMute 2 Posted September 6, 2013 How do you guys stand this crap? what exactly makes it crap?
MineCrack 62 Posted September 6, 2013 what exactly makes it crap? I just find it extremely incoherent and unpleasant to listen to. It's the equivalence to pots and pans clattering with a person screaming. That's just my opinion though, why do you like metal? 1 Brian reacted to this
Gkoo 3 Posted September 6, 2013 How do you guys stand this crap? I personally play an instrument (guitar) and like to listen to the extensive riff's and solo's they play. What music do you listen to and I could try explaining from there.

A big one would be rap I guess. 1 Brian reacted to this
DrLee 15 Posted September 6, 2013 Pretty much all music other than metal. A big one would be rap I guess. By metal, I assume you mean screemo/heavy metal? 1 MineCrack reacted to this

Forest 309 Posted September 6, 2013 Everyone has their preferences. I for one can't stand rap and country. I don't have a substantial reasoning for it, I just don't like the way either sound. Keep in mind though that there are varying types of metal, not all of it is screamo. Also, since I'm posting here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hDs6mCVAKs 2 John and DrLee reacted to this
MineCrack 62 Posted September 6, 2013 Do you appreciate rap for the lyrics or the beat? Both, not so much lyrics for some songs. 1 Brian reacted to this
FacepalmMute 2 Posted September 7, 2013 I like metal because I've spent so much time digesting it and listening to a bunch of different kinds of it for years now. I used to exclusively listen to hip hop and rap until my sister got me into nu-metal. I would say Linkin Park was my definite gateway into metal, and I think they're the only ones who combined rap and metal well. I've grown out of them a long time ago, but I've found a lot about metal that I like. I see it as one of the most versatile and diverse genres of music. People are always finding ways to branch out and expand what they can do with metal. I will say that some types metal might be more accessible than others, but that almost all of them can help you understand and maybe appreciate metal more, even if you don't necessarily like it. If you're not a fan of the super fast playing or growls/screams, I suggest avoiding grindcore, some black metal bands and maybe non-melodic death metal. Here's some bands and songs that might be easier to listen to for someone who doesn't listen to metal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRbnY8EK4Ew Between The Buried And Me fuse a bunch of other genres of music into their type of progressive metal. Their main influence is jazz, and it really shows throughout their music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khACKq23bC8 Periphery band I got my username from. They have a song named "Facepalm Mute", but its more on the fast and heavy side compared to this song. These guys play prog metal in a style known as "Djent", and they're also the ones responsible who popularized it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyQZ13jobIY Ghost BC is a modern band who plays in a classic style of heavy metal. They're a bit campy, but if you like stuff like Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, The Beatles, and surf rock, you might enjoy these guys. No growling, all singing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwG97ah0mEU The Algorithm is a French EDM producer who combines his electronic music with Djent, so you know you have a good thing going when you're making electronic music and you're also French. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONzYMVrhTyk Russian Circles is a "Post-metal" band. They mix metal with post-rock. It's pretty ambient and tame compared to the other stuff, but it's still pretty heavy. 1 1 DrLee and mtown81 reacted to this
