Seems pretty solid to me, but could someone remind me why the following [bolded/underlined] is even a thing: I'm just wondering because I can almost guarantee that no one is keeping track of the number of orders being given. That being said, is it really necessary for it to even be there? I feel that the 3 minutes is plenty enough before tarping should be allowed.

Welcome to the xG forums m8! I think you'll fit in just fine with our rather colourful community :coffee:
-
The only question I have is how adept people are at using Photoshop or any other image editing software/applications for participation in this. No sense in making this a contest if there are only a select few people who would even participate. That being said, I could also go to the Steam Group and announce it as a global XenoGamers event to generate more participation. This would mean having a contest, most likely for a particular dollar value as a large portion of the Steam Group [unfortunately] wouldn't care otherwise. Still need more input from Higher-Ups (+person in charge of Social Media of all things xG) as I'm not going to take any action without first getting the 'okay' from you guys since this influences xG's image (in a way).
-
^ Agreed 100%. It's always great to see our players lending a helping hand whenever there are freekillers on, and it certainly demonstrates a very responsible player. I commend you for your actions! As mentioned by others, so long as the content is viewable without having to download second party software or anything, it really doesn't matter what you choose to record with. For ease of access, YouTube is the best alternative since it does not require the viewer to be ingame to view the clip, but aside from that demos are also fine.

By all means it isn't something that's horrendous, I just thought it'd be neat to have a monthly(?) swap-out for the cover photo of xG Member's own creations. After all, it's a social site and it would be pretty neat to have xG's own submissions made public. As for the whole contest aspect of it, that's only to provide a little incentive is all, nothing huge. The main driver is to just have a rotation of Coverphotos that are made by Members of XenoGamers
-
I feel like the only substantial change would be the colour scheme, seeing as how it isn't exactly representative of xG's "colours" if you know what I mean. But, major points to anyone who can think outside the box and go a different route aside from the conventional collage of well-known video game icons. Might be asking much, which is why I wanted to see how the community felt about it :coffee:

So I was snooping around on forums for a bit, checking things out and what-not, and I ended up on our FaceBook page. It got me thinking; we've had the same coverphoto for a while, why not update it with a new one and make a contest of it? Obviously this is entirely up to @Rhododendron or the Community Leaders (or whoever happens to be in charge of the Social Media aspect of XenoGamers, I forget), but I think it'd be a pretty fun event to have. What do you guys think? For reference, this is our current Coverphoto:

How malleable is the plastic itself after being printed? I figured 3D printed anything would be pretty brittle, but does it depend on the filament being used?

All looks too convenient to me so you'll have to pardon my skepticism. We've had the whole "oh, my brother went on and massed" story countless times, hell we've even had a Staff Member tell us that his cat slayed everyone, so it's a very unlikely story. That being said, I just want to point out the following things that, as mentioned earlier, seem far too convenient. 1. Grant and Fentoo are friends on Steam; it is far more likely that they were just shit-disturbing than it is that they're two harmless friends having a good time, especially given that Fentoo joined in on the freekilling right near the end and was following Grant around. 2. Offending player's brother thought it would be funny to mass freekill or just kill all of the Ts. Simple enough, but it's odd that he would go to the trouble of disconnecting from the Server moments after. Wouldn't it be obvious that he tampered with your account? It would make more sense for him to mass freekill, and then leave it logged in. 3. It is so incredibly easy to lie about this stuff, especially when it's all based off of the evidence provided. Anyone could make up a story when we (the 'jury', so to speak) are unable to see his actions off screen. Just my two cents. Don't think he should be unbanned from CT at the least.

Best way I can describe it is the gear system of Destiny, the banditing system of DayZ, the 3rd person shooting of Metal Gear Online, and the cover system of Gears of War. There's probably a way simpler comparison, but this is what first came to mind. It's a pretty fun game, but is definitely more enjoyable with friends. The biggest allure of the game is the Dark Zone, where it becomes a battle ground of PvE and PvP. There will be roving NPCs who will want to shoot you, and who you'll want to kill for better gear, and there will be roving [groups of] players who will want to kill you for any loot you have gathered or who you'll want to kill to loot their gear. You won't know who is enemy or friend in terms of players until they've started shooting, but the odds of you getting into a firefight escalate as soon as you pick up loot of any kind. I would strongly recommend getting some play time into the beta (assuming it's still open) since it's free before considering to pre-order, as getting an opinion isn't necessarily enough for a game like this.

Seeing as how the player has demonstrated a mature and collective approach to all of this and has even gone out of his way to submit Ban Requests on rule breakers (I can't vouch for knowledge of rules in the Server) I think a reduced ban time would be fair. It isn't often that we have players who actively try their best to reduce their ban time, and I think this player is a fine example of the latter. However, because the ban was for a mass freekill, as a precautionary measure I suggest the following to you @mobinblack ; if you are ever unsure as to what is going on in the round, it is far more beneficial to just let things slide and end up getting killed ingame. Waiting for the next round is not nearly as punishing as being permanently (or temporarily) CT banned. +1 for a reduced ban time, though not immediate.

Fear not, there will always be future contests and events to participate in. I'm trying to pool together prizes and the like so I can do stuff like this more often!

It's been brought up before and used to actually be a function on the Server, but it ended up being abused and caused more trouble than it was worth. You can find a few of the reasons here as it was the most recent thread made regarding this issue.
-
Ladies and gentlemen, we are coming up on the time in which our winners will be announced! For the sake of any late entries, the contest will end and winners will be announced in 45 minutes or so. Get those drawings in as soon as possible!

@Tsuchikure as the Staff member who dealt the ban, do you remember what happened? I'm assuming that the player mass freekilled and then immediately left the Server, but I'd like to know whether or not that's the case just to be sure. If you did in fact mass freekill and then left the Server to escape the ban or punishment in general, I see no reason why you should be unbanned. You should have been well aware of your actions and should now have to deal with the consequences of your choices. Even if the player just wants to play on surf we shouldn't be making case-by-case exceptions for intentional rulebreakers just because they want to play on a different xG Server. He chose to actively seek out to break rules by mass freekilling which is blatantly obvious from his aliases, and then (just an assumption until Mega confirms) chose to leave the Server before the ban was dealt to avoid punishment.

Obvious freekilling. Suggest perm CT ban. Yada yada baddie can't aim, +1 :coffee:

As far as I know that was the only way to change your name by way of normal Member privilege. I'd contact @Rhododendron or @Nomulous for anything forum related, they may be able to help you. Otherwise I think we'll just have to wait for the Store to be re-released at some point in the future :(
