As a lot of you know, it was my 22nd birthday today. It feels kind of douchey to write a note in the General section of the forums, but I really need to say this, and I have no idea where else to leave a message like this.
I cannot begin to express how thankful I am about joining this clan. When I first joined Nintendo Sixty-Fortress 5 years ago, I could have never guessed the amount of genuine, authentic friendships I would develop within this time. I apologize if this whole post sounds a bit weird, but I just want to thank everyone for making xG what it is for all of these years. Here's to many more!

Three scammers added me in the last 2 days



I have an idea that already flopped on one of them, but I am thinking of perfecting it on the other two, and I need xG's advice on this.
So if you ever played old school text adventure games like Zork, that is essentially what I am trying. The idea is that I respond in a similar format as one of those games, and NEVER break character.

So my latest gag was a request! Whilst on xG's Trade Gaming History server, I was added by this gentleman that has absolutely no connections that would result in me adding him. Upon receiving this request, I asked the server what impersonation should I take. I got a couple good requests, but one of them was "instead of offering items, offer used cars." I could NOT say no to such a genius idea. *Forewarning: I am many things, but I am not a person who knows a lot about cars. Please forgive my poor impersonation.*

So it starts out with this gentleman following the "Random-add scammer phrase checklist" such as asking if I am a trader AFTER adding me and offering unusuals from another person's account.
Although I would not really call myself a trader, for the purposes of this charade, I have decided to masquerade as one. I play my role to a T, and he does the unthinkable, HE DOES NOT ASK FOR MY UNUSUAL. Now I have been doing this for a long time, but I have never EVER had someone ask for anything but my Unusual Stovepipe. He did ask for austrailiums, but that wasn't going to be my initial offer, no no no. I start him off on some of my more mediocre wares. I have had this Kia Spectra for a while*, and it was cluttering my garage**. I was okay with letting it go. I go on to immediately regret that and backpedal a bit to a different car.

At first, he is confused. Does he not know how the barter of automobiles is performed? What an amatuer. So he goes on to speak Filipino, and I shamelessly open a tab in Google Translate. He opens with obscenities, and proceeds to call me a devil. I give the obvious response. I mean, car salesmen are stereotyped to be sleazy ass droplets, but it does not mean I am under that same, smelly umbrella. He keeps this up for a bit, so I (professionally) request him to gather himself so we can continue negotiating. I give him a few minutes, and ask him if negotiations can continue. He does not respond. I give him a countdown to respond so I can gauge his interest. I already wasted to much time on him. A busy car salesman*** such as myself shouldn't be wasting his valuable seconds on people who aren't willing to conduct business. The clock runs fully, and I am still met with silence. A bit nettled, I say a backhanded statement and proceed to block and unfriend him. I probably wasn't going to go through with it anyways. If he lived in the Philippines, the paperwork and fees to send that car over would be to costly.

Staff work on xG entirely voluntary. Don't let that get in the way of your life. Even though I am inactive on xG's minecraft server, if you are dedicating that much time, I am doubtful that your help will go unnoticed.

Hey man I just wanted to say a few parting words to ya before you leave.
 

What you've done for us is a huge help, and the thing is we know how hard it is to create a spawn from scratch, to create a server that people will enjoy and bug fix etc. You should be proud of all the work you've done and no one (especially you) deserve to be berated or insulted for what you've done for us.
Your real life is more important than xG, this goes for everyone. Despite how grateful we are, you should always look out for yourself, and I'm glad you have high goals schoolwise and want to focus on yourself, it's never too late and I wish you the best of luck for all these aspects.
I wish you had been a little more open to me about some of these issues, but if all else, I want you to get to a good mental state where you're happy, you're always welcome either as a member or a staff, depending on what you prefer.

Let us know if there's anyway we can help out in xG in the future, but for now once again thanks for everything you've done for us, and we hope to see you around the servers and for you to enjoy your time again.

-1 The amount of leniency we have given you is ridiculous. You were completely aware of your current standings when it came to punishment, but decided to break the rules anyways. You brought this entirely on yourself. I sure hope the payment was worth it.

So i've been thinking about this for awhile and there are many reasons for it.
 
First off, my biggest problem is how disgruntled, the TF2 xG community is. I'm not naming names because i don't want to cause shit or belittle anyone in particular because it's everyone in the TF2 div's fault, mine included for not doing a better job at trying to mitigate these situations. It's just the sad state of affairs this community is and frankly i'm tired of it. Everyone is at each other's throats with constant bull shit flung from both sides. This is also especially true in the staff community. Everyone has a clique and if you don't like someone they will try and do shit in their powers to get people they don't like demoted or promoted. I've heard ridiculous bull shit like people going on alt accounts just to instigate staff with the hopes of having them caught handling a situation poorly just for evidence to get them demoted. No one wants to help their fellow admin or mod. I'm not saying you have to be their friend or even like them for that matter, but to do some lowly bull shit like cut evidence up to make someone look bad or just being hypocrites and i'm seeing it is dragging into other divisions too and i'm really just getting tired of it. i was hoping @Aegean would make a thread about the state of the community of the tf2 division but that hasn't been created yet. If you're glad to see me demoted then fine. But it shouldn't be a good thing that a staff member is stepping down nor should it be a good thing that they were demoted. People in this clan go out of their way to not help moderators especially with their job on the line and it's pretty fucked. It also doesn't help that there is always a fucking problem. It feels like at least once a week there is this massive shit storm where it's nothing but shit flinging or passive aggressive comments, discord rants and so on. You might be thinking, well you will encounter this any where. That's true to an extent but for god sakes people. This is a video community, not some corporate business where you gotta step all over people to get to the top or some cliche shit like that.
 
Second, school. I'm leaving this sunday for school and will probaby too busy to moderate when trying to balance a social life, university and so on.
 
Third, Tf2 just isn't really fun anymore. i'm struggling to just get the hours to justify my admin powers and with this TF2 update not coming out to help light some sort of interest in this game it's becoming more and more of a pain. I'm sure many of you playing tf2 right now can understand how i'm feeling about how slow this update progress has been as i'm sure many of you have displayed as well.
 
Anyway, thats it, i'm stepping down. I will consider coming back in the future however as of right now, with school, little interest in tf2, and just the tf2 division as a whole, i think its my time to step down. Hope the tf2 divison gets their stuff together and i hope all of the mods/admins do a great job. Peace. i will probably still play tf2 every now and again.
