ETHICS 232 FINAL HELP
MrSaturday and 2 others reacted to Jaybreeze for a post in a topic
Okay, I don't do this often but I feel bad for you, so here you go. 1.) According to deontology, it is your obligation to adhere to the rules that bind you. As such, if you follow this path you would need to inform your supervisor of the failed assignment, letting him know that you could not finish the task in time and face the consequences of your action. The morals of the situation come into play, as you must be morally right if you follow Duty ethics. For utilitarianism, you must make the choice that maximizes your happiness while reduces your stress. This is a little tricky, because if you lie about the assignment and get more time to work on it, your stress may increase due to workload. However, if you tell your boss you did not complete the assignment then your run the risk of losing your job and therefore reducing your happiness. The choice I would make here would be to inform your boss of the amount of work you previously had, and ask for a short extension so you may do the work to the best of your ability, thus increasing happiness while keeping suffering to a minimum. Finally, for virtue ethics the decision must be made case by case. If your own personal morals do not seem to be affected by lying then by all accounts, lying is certainly an option. However, if it does impact you then telling a lie will not help your morality at all. This form of normative ethics, gives the most amount of leniency towards certain situations and allows the persons own thoughts and feelings to go into decision making. All in all, my own personal choice to follow would be virtue ethics. While lying may not be a good thing all the time, there are certain situations it may be acceptable or not. It depends on what kind of person you want yourself to be, and it gives you all the power to decide your own fate. 2.) Whistleblowing is the act of informing the public or authorities of something negative that is being kept from them. Basically what this means is that if you know something, you tell someone to spread the news and shed light on the issue. In relation to ethics, this is a little similar to deontology, as it would be the morally right thing to inform the public of this hazard and potentially save lives, rather than save money. However, if you look at this from the utilitarianism standpoint, it might be easier to turn the other way and avoid all the stress and hope that someone else will find this error and act on it. The standpoint of whistleblowing from the side of the law is different. It has a lot of laws and legal protections that both help and hinder the act itself. Overall, it seems that there is a lot of protection against whistleblowing, but with the evolution of the internet it is extremely easy to shed light on issues to the general public. One of the most obvious consequences for whistleblowing in this situation is the amount of money the company will spend trying to right the error, therefor losing potential profit. Another major consequence would be the backlash from your supervisor who you went over his head, therefore losing his trust and potentially causing a major rift in the office/factory. All in all, whistleblowing in this situation seems like the logical and morally right choice to make. -

I don't know what more you want.. sorry I wasn't recording I guess. And isn't it supposed to be Chuck's responsibility to prove that they weren't, it shouldn't be my job to prove that we are right over and beyond showing a screenshot of the kills and the reasoning behind it.... I guarantee Chuck did not say "together" everyone knows very well that that is never said. Had he said it, there would not have been more than 5 t's in separate lines, most of them would have followed orders. Obviously I can't prove it without a recording, but both memory and logic can pretty much back those up. I don't see why this is turning into an argument, I think its clear that there was a mistake by Chuck and he deserves a shortened ban due to his long standing escapade with xG. But saying that you said "blah blah blah" and arguing that you did nothing wrong isn't the right way to go about this. If there was an issue with the ban Chuck should have posted within a reasonable amount of time, not a week or more later. And for all of you who are just +1 ing these because of ASSUMPTIONS.. well that really doesn't solve anything. You need to verify the facts before calling it one way or another. And remember, this is Chuck's responsibility to prove himself right, not mine nor anyone else that was there should have the task of proving him wrong. There are numerous issues with this ban protest on Chuck's side (not submitting mod abuse, not mentioning to anyone that the ban was unjust, he said he didn't care right after the ban, no proof or detailed description of what occured) it all comes together as being just a way to get out of it without admitting the mistake. -

Who's that College Student?!

Well, depends on your major and what year are you on. What is your major and are you sophomore next semester? And you should think about at least taking 15 or 16 credits per semester to graduate properly. If your major is like Engineering, well take Physics. (need to take both anyways) If your major is like Science, choose what you like. Btw Physics lab is bitch slab. So it depends. -

-1 pointsI do understand what a taser is meant to be in actuality, but this is a weapon provided in our game. It is also a very popular weapon that is included in almost every map we use, mainly in areas that Ts can easily reach. What I am hoping to accomplish is get another way for Terrorists to rebel. I also believe that it would provide extra incentive to stay away from Ts.

-1 points+1 to 1 hit kill Zeus. That's one thing I love about cs-go, is getting those hilarious tazer kills. I think it will make the gameplay just more fun. I've always wondered why xG has no Zeus, I don't see why you shouldn't have it. It's not an overpowered weapon in my opinion.

I don't even think there are bhop servers on CS: GO, sadly. Go type "map jb_fairway_csgo" into console and just practice. -
