  1. The only reason why I said that was because there are kids who don't know what pron is and they show their parents and ask what it is. Kids are naturally curious and want to learn everythinf they can. It's just how it is.

Stuff like this, and the "I don't think that's the way we want to be seen as a community." argument confuse me. How is a NSFW channel bad when:

    • It clearly states with an alert the size of the entire discord UI that you must be 18+ to view upon first clicking on it
    • we don't even accept people that young into the community
    • it's used as a vent to keep some of that content out of other channels
    • we (can) have a rank that you have to manually add yourself to access the channel (virr said he has this ready to go, so it's not actually implemented yet, but this can still be a point)
    • and a few (respected, even) members here act in such a way during a normal day anyways? On mic, especially. Silence for goddamn sure.

I don't recall this clan trying to cater towards creating a safe haven for 10-year-olds to play on tf2 servers and then not be allowed to join the community because they're not old enough? If anything, I remember kids around that age being restricted from talking on their microphones.

Don't get me wrong, I know servers are supposed to be PG- 13, but I'm pretty sure it's because if NSFW was allowed, it would be taken too far, or be too far in the gray areas and make the entire environment an uncomfortable one, thus making it extremely difficult or stressful to moderate.

  2. My concern is that this chatroom is just going to turn into a pron dump and a great place for people to spew negativity simply because they can do so behind a keyboard. I don't think that's the way we want to be seen as a community.

Even if it's an NSFW channel, I still don't think it would give leeway for excessive or blatant negativity/bullying/death threats/illegal material/whatever else you can do to ruin somebody elses day. Those people, despite how rare they are, can still very easily be banned, and their messages deleted.

I'd like to think that it's alright because it's usually just filled with butts (unless silence is online,) while also giving any curious onlookers a giant warning about the contents inside.

But if some people *really* can't handle it because "I want the community that I'm in to be pg- 13 so children can show their parents" for god-knows what reason, then the best bet would be to just add an extra layer of pg- 13 and add a rank specifically made for the NSFW channel. It's really not that hard.

  3. Since @Egossi and myself were flooding the thread, we decided to talk about it in PM.

In the end we decided to agree to disagree as my belief that Egossi should work up from mod after he's proved his activity is a solution but as Egossi is obviously good at his job considering that he worked up to DM in the past, getting promoted to admin and then getting demoted if he is inactive to member is another solution. There's not really a wrong answer, it's just that I'm stricter :coffee:

Shit. I just finished typing my reply.

Oh well, I'll post it anyways for the heck of it, just gonna make it less noticeable and for it to be the last one. Have fun scrolling past. :^)

    -

He was told before by Rejects and did know about it since Rejects leaked some stuff like higherups always do

I think activity across every position needs at least 14 hours including DM and DL.

    Ah, that's a bit better.

Hmm, I personally think that despite *trying* to be active (unless being on radio silence for a long duration, referring to HighSociety as an example), and you can't meet activity quotas under said *trying* conditions, then if you're doing a well enough job, you would probably be given leniency. That in itself should have little to do with trust. I don't know how well he did with his job while being inactive at the time, so I have limited ability to speak here.

Though, I believe he mentioned that he had good reason to not be active at the time. Not sure who he may have mentioned the inactivity to, but that could also have been another time as well and I could be completely wrong.

  4. Bello confronted you as well just before you stepped down and he even agreed with me and wanted to tell you to become more active but he struggled to tell you because you guys are like best friends.

I know you weren't active because I was monitoring your activity because you were promoted to DM below the minimum activity for staff at the time. Here's a link to the thread: Promotions And Demotions #163 | Xeno Gamers

You need to prove to us you can stay active because you definitely weren't when you were staff as proven, so I want to see that you can be active as moderator and prove that you can be trusted to stay active and once you've proved it after at least one month then you should get admin. That's all

Without any more context, sounds to me like he finally stepped down when he was told he was being too inactive. Sounds like he did the right thing, then? Dunno.

Anyways, this whole "I can't trust you since I thought you should be active, and you were in your eyes, but you weren't in my eyes, so I feel betrayed" thing is ..strange. Even if he's a mod or admin, shouldn't he be getting less leniency regarding activity now compared to a DM?

  5. He also said he would leave it to the tf2 higher ups. I have no problem with him skipping to admin if the community likes him enough, but it is kinda unfair to those who tried before to skip past moderator. If the tf2 highers ups say that he can skip past moderator then others should have been given that chance aswell. Anyway as I've said egossi definitely deserves the position but we need the tf2 higher ups to chime in.

I suppose ^ already spoke, with it being a case-by-case basis with this sort of context, and I don't mean to drag it on, but to add an extra voice: Skipping mod just means you're capable, trusted, and in most cases already well experienced. Which he is.

As far as I know, and in my opinion, it does not, and should not involve a case of 'fairness' when you've already done the same job (or more) for the same group that you're re-applying to unless there's a strict nonmember->member->mod->admin->etc rule*, or if you've had some nasty interactions which got you... 'out of the job' in the first place.

...I guess that was just another way of putting what other people said. Why do i write this stuff?

*This would probably have torn this place apart already.

  6. I had found GMod on my old windows XP, and I *sort of* liked it... Better than any games the garbage can of a PC could run anyways. But every single map was full of the accursed purple-black checkerboards, and after about a month I was sick of it. I decided to get some steam cash and bought a couple games that I knew would fix the errors and bad textures, but it seemed like a waste deciding to simply buy the games for their textures on GMod and not play them.

I installed CS:S to see how it was, and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of server types there was, and how fast it started up and continued to run(Yes, my old PC was that bad). 'Course, my first thought was to join a server that looked like fun. In this case, "xG Jailbreak #1 Last CT | Bombs". Since it was very well populated, being near full and was playing an interesting-looking gamemode with features that I had never heard of before.

I joined and simply watched everybody else play most of it. I was super worried about accidentally breaking rules, as I am today, but still had a lot of fun watching the shenanigans people were managing to pull off. So after a little bit I just played with the intent of trying not to do anything fishy, as well as never play on CT until I get the hang of the mode. Eventually I caught on and had a load of fun when i did it casually. Joined about a month after, and had the time of my life in future years.

"Jailbreak" was the mode that had consumed several years of my life. After settling in for a while I don't think I had anybody who had negative feelings going both ways, and after a while, I played up to 17 hours a day. Nothing but jailbreak, practicing my bhop when nobody else was around. I was the first to join, last to leave the server, beating r0bot in the hiscores. Those were extremely fun times.

    Also, hub.

  7. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do to stop people from grabbing more than one key, or even get people to post when they get one.

Might be easier if I limit posts to about 10 keys next time instead of 20 so I can keep track of them easier (especially since I'm the one who manually crosses out the used keys).

Ehh, easiest way to work that would be to have a number list, then if someone chooses that number, then I'd send them the key associated with that number. But then no one would be able to activate anything until I have the time to message them the key. I could also use the number idea, but have the number link to pictures of the key that the user would need to type rather than copy/paste. That would keep bots from grabbing them and users from copy/pasting 15 keys in a few seconds. Even with that idea though, everyone would need to type 'em out.

I think it would just be better to limit the amount I post. I haven't really had any issues with key snatchers when grouping 5 keys in a post, so I'll just max it at 10 next time.

I don't think it really matters. People say that everything is being snatched up instantly, but those same people seem to find a key that's unused. I'm pretty sure it's just because some people are taking one but not posting. Doesn't really make much sense to take a couple and stop for those kind of people.

  8. I thought Vector explained it fine.

I work full time at the dear old terrible Walmart and TF2 has been going down hill ever since 2015's halloween update.

    I'm also just not a fan of CS:GO's Jailbreak/minigames.

Teamspeak activity dropped because most the people I enjoyed chatting have went somewhere else, So I have just been watching the forums and helping Bello when he asks.

And the Caleb comment has to be the only huge butthole thing I have ever posted AND I don't regret it.

    That clear it up?

Wait, wait.. So, since you seem to only want pick and choose who you interact with, and only want to wait for problems to come to you, does that really mean you deserve the title?

Sorry, but this entire post sounds so horrible for somebody who has nothing to do with TF2. Especially when you made that blatantly disrespectful comment to a member of a community who was pretty much bullied into stepping down because he was very obviously disliked by people such as you, and you are supposed to represent and manage that community?

Am I missing something important here? And I really have to ask, are you serious?

  9. I'm gonna be honest, despite the fact it's been 4 years since it happened, I'm really hesitant on unbanning you as the precedent has been to decline people who abused as a final goodbye on their part. I will say that I am leaning more towards a +1 than a -1 since majority of the people from back then who might have been affected are not even here. I would like to hear other people's point of view first, but right now I am a 0.

As far as I know, almost nobody from 2012 CS:GO times are still around, so it will be hard to finish

Buuut who knows, this guy has created multiple ban protests with years between them.

  10. Oh fudge im stupid, i didn't read the thread properly. I'm assuming its not possible to discourage fudgeposts and make things as clear as possible. I do agree that there should be a grace period of some sort where you can edit your post. Something like an hour sounds good.

I thought that did exist with a 5 minute timer? Did it already disappear?

  11. @Tsuchikure@Rhododendron or Myself don't tell @Lithium or @Bleed what to do for CS:GO, they constantly figure out or listen to other staff/members on ideas or issues that are taking place. I'm not saying all CM's need to know how to program either, @Bello is another example of someone who is extremely active not only on forums but always letting me know if any issues or ideas that tf2 has, just to hear my opinion or see if I can get him help if there's something he can't solve. Just showing initiative goes a LONG way in a community that is full of people who are willing to help improve xG and this is truly the bare minimum a CM should be doing until we get their rank proper responsibilities.

Exactly. It sounds almost identical to what a DM/DL does, or should do. I guess I should have also added the "minus programming" part, though.

I'm not exactly trying to prove any point or start any discussions. DEFINITELY not heated ones. But rather pointing out that the role at this time is extremely vague other than "do things with the community that isn't what a DM is/should be doing" in my eyes. However, it might be better for me to find a reminder as to what DMs actually do.

    @Tsuchikure

Look through all my news posts on the home page or general when I talk about something new or changed or even just asking for feedback. The bare minimum CM's can do is comment opinions, read feedback or respond to other's feedback. There is a lot of things for CM's to do, doing nothing is not an excuse as xG has multiple dead servers, teamspeak not being populated as much as it can be, and forums not being lively. Figure out ways to promote activity, show activity yourself OR even just ask other staff or members if they need help with anything.

Of course. I fully agree that they can and should be doing such things. It just sounds like it's supposed to be different to a specific untold rank that i may or may not have mentioned before(:^)), and is rather confusing. Again, I will get a reminder as to what the divison ranks are tasked with after this.

  12. CM's should literally be active in discussions with the community as a number 1. This means being on servers, forums and teamspeak occasionally and actually managing the community lol. Make threads, share ideas, ask for ideas etc. It's always better to have more than 1 person to start these kinds of discussions every once in a while so we don't remain stale.

I'm gonna be honest, the CM rank, or "role" sounds almost no different from what a DM/DL would do on a normal day.

Sticking to and "representing" (I assume something along those lines) a specific division, forwarding ideas and problems to leaders as necessary and so on unlike the previous CL position which "represented" the entire clan and was only useful for ending drama-inducing threads.

This also seems to be the same idea here, but people are looking for other reasons after already creating them.

Things like this sound rather vague and confusing unless there's a clear set-in-stone reason or duty for them. Forgive me if I seem ignorant, but there doesn't seem to be much of a difference in managing a division and managing a community for a division. It sounds just like a DM with a different name.

    But, uh, yeah. This.

    2. I'm fine with CM being a role that uses their proven superior judgement and maturity in the community when major issues arise, and I'm fine with them doing more. We just need to be more clear about what xG sees the role as.
