  1. comments like these derail the thread and turn things into fudge-storms. It was a discussion between people that the person in question couldn't remember, that is all. Stop with the useless comments.

I never thought of it that way

  2. xG already has a no disrespect rule. If someone is being offended by a derogatory term that is said towards them, that person can always notify staff in admin chat.

"Autistic" or any varient of the word should not be restricted due to the simple fact it will lead to restricting every little thing that offends people or that people find disrespectful. This is why the disrespect rule was put in place among other reasons to cater to such situations.

I defiantly see your point, thank you for sharing your views.

  3. I rated it dislike because it was a random insult and has nothing to do with this member submission.

This kind of fudge makes me sick. Insulting someone with no warranted reason besides they think you are abrasive.

    -1

    A:8/10

    M:5/10

While I can admit you enforce and follow the rules and that is a good thing to have with any community, what you said doesn't sound like excersicing maturity.

Other people know you better than I do, so feel free to prove me wrong on this. For now, -1.

Thank you for advocating for me.

  4. If this is because our views were different on a separate forum, I feel that it was an adult discussion and we shouldn't fight. And Minecrack, we haven't met so I would greatly appreciate it if you didn't try to go out of your way to "witch hunt" me by posting negative emotes on all of my opinions because we dont see eye to eye. Just out of respect. Thank you.

  5. There are times however where they are rude to the other players. It is understandable to get frustrated, but that doesn't justify rude behaviour. -1 to neutralize my older comment as I ponder this a bit.

My opinion isnt a popular one, so I may receive hate for this, if always been one to speak my mind however. I feel that the core value xG holds is respect. Respect for boundaries and respect for each other. We don't tolerate bad behaviour because this is a clan built on morals and ethics. I have known snowy for a while now, however I have only seen two sides to her: the rule enforcing side which is fine and well, and the more abrasive side. I considered looking past it, as maybe I am missing a piece of the puzzle, However when I retracted my vote to consider her a tad more, not to say no, just to think, she disrespected my desition, and claimed it boring. These symbols are in the negative section, which is where my problem is. The amount of negative reflects what quality of a person I am and she knew this and used this as apposed to waiting out my response. And it is this that makes me feel she does not respect me.

  6. If you don't think people get offended by the hard R sit in a channel with @Phoenix a black community member, and see if he gets offended? Cause I sure as hell wouldn't just let that go. Just cause you frail white children are lashing out the word to each other doesnt mean people arent getting offended by it.

Hell I get offended by the word, It's a horrible word with a horrible meaning.

All though my opinion differ on the word "african" as I've used it probably since I was 12/13, in day to day life, doesnt matter if i'm talking to someone who's white, black, mexican, etc. I still use that word as I didn't grow up in the best school, just became a part of everyday lingo.

But if you think letting people get away with saying the hard R(in any context) is the same as calling some idiot an autist(not an actual autist mind you) your opinions differ very heavily than mine.

We may not see eye to eye but I appreciate your impute, so thank you.

  7. Snowy keeps everyone in line when they stray from the xG rules and is a clear thinker in tough situations. She will make a great member to the team +1

  8. Yeah that's fair enough, I guess we can just say that context is important, and if someone is using the word autistic in a way that might offend someone, even if no one says that they are offended that staff or members should just mention that we don't allow that in our servers. I'd like to hear other staff give some input.

Thank you for listening, I greatly appreciate that.

  9. The issue is it's a very slippery slope and it's very hard to enforce. Do we just ban the word autistic/autism from the servers? Do we mute people who joke about their friends just because we might offend someone on the server? I'm happy we are having this discussion and to hear your comments on it, but just understand in gaming communities things like this aren't crystal clear on what the right move is.

The same can be said about any slur. The N word for instance more often than not offends no one. However xG takes no chances regarding the comfort of its members and I feel we should not exclude people suffering from ASD. I feel the word itself isn't bad, but the context it usually falls under. I suggest if we hear jokes using this disorder in a negative light, that the same procedures be done as with any other slur. Members of xG are always around to keep others in line when other slurs are used, and I'm sure they won't mind ensuring that our team members with ASD are comfortable as well.

  10. I think wait until they get offended is less valid here then for other slurs, as people with autism generally don't feel comfortable speaking up.

This is true, most people aren't willing to disclose their mental issues. Especially if it's one that people tend to laugh about.
