New Map For xG, need opinions!

Alright, so some people feel really strongly about having a music room, and some feel really strongly about NOT having one. I think the best course of action would be to have a type of party room with music, however, the music will only be able to heard when inside that room. For the sake of a challenge, perhaps said room should be put at the end of some type of maze or obstacle course.

Literally the only good town brought up tbh

 

 

Also sorry to you children who want "sand" to be part of the music room, but it is literally the most retarded idea to add that to a server where there are pretty much only 3-4 unique maps. It's the most obnoxious song one could ever think of, even more so than the Minecraft parodies that are going around these days.

The music should actually be from Pokemon itself, not just some random shit thrown together. A bunch of music was posted in a thread a while back when Sylux was asking for it. The majority of the good music was posted by @bagel so look at those posts more than the others.

i think there is a solution for this problem

even tho i put up "sand" on youtube as it is since it has been an inside joke/meme in xG TF2 JB since ~2013, i do agree that putting distorted music in a map wouldnt be the best idea

 

although i also do believe that xG memes should be included in the map so i would suggest adding it as the non-distorted version

most preferabbly in a very secret area/noclip only area, where it can only be heard there (unless more people want it to be put the original way, which im also fine with)

mossdeep seems to be a popular option when i asked the other day.

 

also, give it a music room, but make it so you can actually turn it down on the tf2 music options. that's the only issue people have, not that it exists, but that it can't be disabled. grap hit it on the head.

 

instrumental non-pokemon options would also be nice. i don't give a shit about sand.

 

not having music is a great way to have nothing to fight over. put in stuff that's worth fighting for. it's a polarizing topic, sure, but keeping the quality of music high and also giving people the option to opt out hurts literally no one.

 

but i guarantee there's gonna be a fair lot of people that won't want to play on a map where there's no interesting things to fight for.

Has Celadon City been considered? The area's already sort of sectioned off, so no awkward boarders will have to be made, and not a whole lot of clear lines of sight for snipers. The buildings are simple, so they won't take up a whole lot of resources, which can then be allocated towards adding challenges, puzzles, mazes and whatnot, which can be easily hidden within all those buildings. Plus, it has that gen 1 nostalgia that we all love so much.

I doodled this out real quick. Red/Blue lines are sniper sight-lines Assuming spawns are placed on the far left/right, each team would have way too easy a time camping the choke just outside each spawn, as there are no alternative routes or flanks. This could be easily solved by converting each of the buildings by each spawn into a sort of "teleport station", for an alternate route to the middle of the map. Even if you don't want a teleporter because it gets people there too fast, consider making maybe underground tunnels or something, because the camping situation would be really bad with only 3/9 classes being able to make it over the trees and avoiding the choke easily. The casino would be a great place to hide secrets and whatnot, as it's close to the middle of the map, and therefore people would naturally fight for it.

 

Anyway, this is just a basic idea of what I was thinking, tell me what you think etc.

I was thinking about having two spawn huts actually. Yeah, it would make a slight deviation from the original layout, but which is better, accuracy, or playability? ALso may add some type of obstacles or something to help block the road and make clear sniper lines less clear. Also most of those sniper lines you drew seem pretty avoidable with slight cleverness, none of them really cover any unavoidable terrain.

So, it's been decided between me and @Aegean that Celadon City will be the location of choice. The question now, is which iteration should be made into a map? Gameboy, or GBA? I'll leave a strawpoll here: [MEDIA=strawpoll]14077521[/MEDIA]
