Ok wow wow and wow.

After talking to our glory leaders @Ohstopyou and @kbraszzz I actually decided to keep my position as admin and remain inactive (they said its possible).

So far so good! It's a nice friday today, I managed to connect to our surf servers via the console and although i lagged a little bit, it worked.

Yes, it worked, for how long? 5 minutes.. until I got kicked off by the VAC system. (No, I am not using hacks whatsoever.)

I have no idea how to fix this, the steam support website does not help whatsoever. Does any of you guys know how to fix this?

If you know people who could possibly know how to fix this, please tag them! :(

Did you change anything before there error started to happen or is the only differences your router issues? You may want to forward ports and make sure you don't have any firewalls or antivirus that could be blocking stuff. You can also try running steam and/or tf2 as admin, or try reinstalling tf2 entirely.

I search for things that way often... but if I searched for a server looking for a map... I would not join one that wasn't on the map I searched... and would prolly blacklist it thinking it was doing some shady stuff by showing up in my map search without being on that map :)

Until a patch is announced for a game that isn't going to be patched because it's not affected :)

He is just warning us about the exploit, you never know what can happen. They can say it is in 4 games but then 5 other games end up being effected as well. Again, better safe then sorry

He clearly does know something otherwise he couldn't have made a video about it There are multiple threads that come up when you search this bug too.

Plus you're saying he knows nothing when here you are making a butt of yourself and saying that steam guard will help you. It's a virus, it may not just attack steam you know.

 

Still, my point stands that it's better safe than sorry.

It's specific to out of date games that run on source 2013.... which means that things that DO NOT run source 2013, like TF2 and CS:GO.... aren't affected....

Do you know how many times I've had any account compromised or stolen or hacked.... none.... and I have never had a serious virus or malware on my computer, plus I have AV that scans daily... even on my phone and tablet...

Anyways, I'm not saying the guy knows nothing... I am saying that I usually don't listen to random youtubers for my security advice... and my steam account will notify me and require me to authorize any new IPs that even try to login to steam both via the client and the website.... there no way anything can steal my hats... :)

Valve News Network said for safety precautions you should still be aware that this may still be possible in TF2. Better safe than sorry.

It only works on older source games only or game using an older source mp engine. tf2, csgo, and dota 2 were patched so it cant affect them.

Better you figured that out late, than never.... and maybe now you see why I've been laughing so hard at this :)

Even IF I belive the whole mouse dieing and fire bound to e thing, which I don't.... you still used a rocket launcher to try and kill a red standing next to the rest of the red team.... which is a stupid thing to do, even if your "mouse didn't die" you would have likely splashed dmged the entire red team.... I still think you should stay banned. go do Mona Pizza or donate for unban IMHO.

 

It was dumb luck. The orders were for reds to go on the red line of red knifepit and someone stepped onto blu knifepit line. I was a soldier and I tried to kill the rebeler with my rocket launcher. However, I missed my shot due to my USB mouse (it ran out of battery) and it aimed for the prisoners on the red knifepit. At the worst possible time, a medic on blu kritzkrieged me to kill the rebeler on blu knifepit line. My TF2 crashed immedietly afterwards. It looked like a planned mass freekill then leave, but I want to make it very clear that I did not had the intention of mass freekilling. It was just a bunch of dumb luck combining into one. :(

If your mouse died, how did you fire the rocket? O_o

IF that is currently the reason why he's banned, then +1, it's been 2 years, I'm sure that nobody in mantis even remembers it happening.

If it's for massing and leaving, then I'll have to -1, (or +1 for unban, but perma ct ban.)

It also looks like he tried to teamban you for 2 hrs... but you had left the server, my guess is he uped it to a day for "evasion"

Here's what looks like happened:

You... intentionally freekilled someone.... and then "slayed yourself" and left the server.....

so... it's not really a "punishment" to slay yourself... if you were just going to leave anyways....

Leaving could very easily be seen as an evasion of punishment for the freekill...

I remember the CS Div always having a thing where people "could" be banned for up to a day for INTENTIONALLY freekilling.... I did it to Nova once and got CTbanned for a week....

I suggest you wait out the punishment and try not to purposely freekill anyone in the future -1
