  1. So after finally having time to sit down and thoroughly read through some stuff, I still agree with *most* of what Elcark said, but with a few changes.  Plus I also misread the sniper bit, thought he said we didn't have a cap right now so we should make one.

     

     

    I'd rather go with the restrictions that Elcark suggested(minus the sniper bit), but if we're going to make a cap on sniper then I suggest bumping that number up to at most 4-5.  At 5 snipers that would still let *most* people that like to play sniper, play sniper.

    I 100% agree that we should be letting people play their favorite classes without a cap stopping them, but at the same time we need to think about the Hale, we shouldn't be just focusing on those fighting the Hale, we need to also take into consideration how it feels to fight a large amount of certain classes.

     

    So, heres some ideas.

     

    Sniper

    -Keep the cap for them, but increase it to 4-5.

     

    Pyro

    -Either A. Remove the thermal thruster stun ability altogether or

    -B. Make a cap of 4 pyros and keep the chargerate decreased as it is now.

     

    Heavy

    -Since playpoints is removed now, I haven't heard really any complaints about the class since machine slapper is nonexistent, keep Heavy how he is.

     

    Engineer

    -I agree we should cap this class, but 3 seems a bit too low of a number, I suggest either 4-5 for Engineer, that way most people who want to play Engy can, but it also doesn't bring the game into a realm of impossibility for the Hale to win, or just leading the round on for 10 minutes.

     

    Medic

    -Don't cap this class, the only time they actually become a problem to deal with is on bosses like blitzkrieg and bloodrider, which do ridiculous amounts of damage to say the least, and a good number of people don't go medic for those bosses anyways, so I see no reason to cap the class.

    I'm only mentioning this to say despite this being the central reason for the concept to be brought up lately I don't think we should actually restrict it, at least not now. The main reason for restricting Pyro was concern of the thermal thruster stun being spammed, but with the recharge rate nerfed to hell it hopefully isn't going to be an issue anymore.

    Heavy and Engineer

    Having to fight four heavies all firing at you into a corner or even better seven plus engineers all building a cluster of sentries that keep you in the air while sometimes can be a bit funny, is just simply not fun to try and fight against. I think we should restrict both classes to a max of three.

    Medic

    The main complaint for medic comes with the bkitzkreig and bloodrider. While it does take actual considerable effort from medics to stay alive to keep continual res's going and can be done with as few as two, the real annoyance comes from a boss having hunted down ~5 medics only for yet another to pop out of hiding and undo all the effort that was done. Now this restriction would have the least amount of drawback in normal rounds as you will practically never see more than two medics being used if even that, but we don't want to ruin this particular part of these special bosses either. Perhaps a limitation of four?

    Sounds good, I'm cool with all the restrictions you suggested.

    This shouldn't be happening in the first place, if there are staff using the "don't argue with staff" just to silence people even when they are in the wrong, then that should be brought up in one way or another to the higherups and we'll see what we can do.

    Basically what I said above, however, if there are staff enforcing rules that don't actually exist, then by all means try to push them in the right direction and explain to them that it's not a rule or whatnot.  Otherwise refer back to what I already said about if they use the "don't argue with staff" thing.

    This is something I want to point out for sake of discussion, like has been stated before in previous threads, all staff handle things differently, its just how it goes.  We can always try to clarify the rules as much as we want to, but there will ALWAYS be some sort of discrepancy, whether it be very much so or very little.  Now me personally, I don't have a problem with how people talk unless its A. Clearly a voicechanger, or B. It's upsetting other people on the server.

     

    On the topic of clarifying rules, like others already said, we are looking at a couple different points of interest to try and make as clear as possible, but we always appreciate feedback so we can see what the community wants to happen with the servers and the rules (such as cutting down rules so its not such a read, or instead making a list of things as examples).

    I'd be ok leaving it how it is, but I also don't think a blanket term would be a problem IF we made sure that all of the staff are on the same page and are able to enforce the rule as such, like we discussed earlier a PSA would probably be fine, but whatever we do we need to make sure all of the staff are on the same page so we don't have anymore confusion like this.

    This. I've already said it but I'll say it again anyways, we NEED to talk to the staff about what we change/add, maybe not in the form of a meeting, but probably beyond just a PSA.  On a few things I've seen in the past, even though there were announcements regarding the changes, there were still staff disagreeing over what was right and what was not, and with a subject such as this (or really anything for that matter), to say it bluntly, we can't have that happen again. 

     

     

    -----To sum it up-----

    -Keep the rule how it is (add whatsoever if anyone thinks we should) since it covers what everyone needs to know already, it's just a matter of getting everyone on the same page.

    -Adding a list of examples to the admin handbook and telling the staff about it.

    -Talking with all of the staff members and making sure they know exactly what to look for so everybody is on the same page, no more one staff said this but you said this.

    I'd be ok with something like this, just so like Elcark said everybody can be *for the most part* on the same page so people don't hear one thing from one staff and another thing from another staff, it'd just clear up a lot of confusion.  I'd say that's the main problem I see with the whole situation, is that everybody interprets things differently and so people hear a whole bunch of different things about whether or not a certain spray is allowed, and obviously there will always be SOME SORT of gap in how staff handle stuff like this, but it's always good to try and minimize it as much as possible.

    Trying to hold some sort of staff meeting and discuss it with them and showing them the updated admin handbook just so everyone has a better idea of what to look for after we get it changed is always an option too.
