    Member Application Changes

    Rhododendron

After Saturday's meeting with the Community Leaders, we have decided to redo the member application process in order to provide a better experience for members of Xeno Gamers and a more streamlined approach for those wanting to join.

The application process no longer requires you to 'choose' a division to apply for. You are now applying to be a global member of Xeno Gamers

With these changes comes a change to the vouching system. We have decided to make it so you need 5 vouches, and a Division Leader / Division Manager / Community Leader to vouch as well. We hope this will speed up the application process while leading to better choices for the members of this community.

We have done this because we want to lessen the segregation feeling that has been floating around the community in recent times, and we feel this is a great first step in order to do so.

Finally, the requirements for members of Xeno Gamers will be clearly defined, as well as structure descriptions and rule listings in the upcoming guide database we are configuring. This should be here in the coming weeks. Some of the changes for members will be required forum activity and required Teamspeak activity, as these services are invaluable to the communication of the community and really bring us together.

Please let us know what we can do to improve Xeno Gamers!

doesnt that kinda fuck over the Nuclear dawn and gmod divisions? and for csgo and tf2 that is what a total of 6 vouches or 5? either way both divs have 10 required cause they have more then enough to get 10.

After discussion with @Rhododendron let it be known that all submissions made prior to this announcement will be treated under the old rules of 10 +1s for acceptance. Any submissions after shall follow these new guidelines.

@Lithium @Bleed @Chrono please choose your vouches wisely from now on.

The whole point of having 10 +1s was to have a greater sense of if said person would make a good member or not. By reducing it to half of that would bring in more members, yes. But it also brings the chance of all these members that puts a negative image (Hell I'm one to talk). If people are having a hard time getting +1s, maybe they need to actually get to know the community. Talk to people and make friends with them. Hell, HOP ON TEAMSPEAK AND TALK WITH OTHER MEMBERS. Do what everyone else did in the old days. If you want something, you work for it, correct? Sure you're bringing TeamSpeak into the member requirement, but we also had it as a staff requirement. People would come on for a week, get promoted cause our higher up staff is lazy, and then they never return because they got what they wanted. People don't change. It'll be the same way with this new member system.

The global membership status and not needing a division though is cool. But let's face it. There will always be a TF2 vs. CS:GO. Since members will be more partial to one or another. (Except @Insane ;) )

Im interested to see how this plays out for the future.

There have been member apps where someone may get 5 +1s, but they'd still get a ton of -1s(or we could keep it at 5, but -1s counteract +1s). 5 is not enough to truly judge someones character. If we do this, we need much more strict requirements(i.e Teamspeak, time active, things that normally get looked by). Im sure if they play xG they should have atleast 5 friends who could +1 someone just because theyre friends, not actually because of their potential. I say keep it as it is, maybe keep it lower for less populated divisions.
