I'm not one for eloquent long posts so this'll be short. While I expect some arguing between staff members (not everyone can get along all the time) but behavior like this is simply unacceptable. A member of xG (let alone a staff member) displaying such poor and blatantly awful behavior such as this will not be tolerated under any circumstances. I don't care if the two of you (Chickenpanda and Bello) don't see exactly eye-to-eye, but this is ridiculous. If I (or any other of the CL's) see such terrible behavior again, there will be immediate consequences.

EDIT: due to conversation restrictions I decided to post this in admin discussion instead of in a conversation. Those who can, please pass this message on to Chickenpanda and Bello.

  2. It sucks that CS:S died as a whole. At least if it had been just our servers losing population there would be problems which we could feasibly fix.

  3. The CL's vote for things that they have little to no knowledge about, the thing about being demoted by not joining the group is outrageous and completely unfair.

How is it unfair? Staff that are inactive will be fished out, (as they didn't join the group) and any staff that refuse to join the group shouldn't really have staff powers at all. If you feel that joining a steam group, and accepting a friend request (two things that literally take only a few seconds at most) is too much for you to handle, then I'll have to ask you to resign your powers as a staff member, as you are either grossly incompetent or insubordinate.

Anyways, I really like this and I'm glad to see it implemented. I wish we had something like this during the olden days with CS:S, it would have helped with staff communication a ton.

  4. Who was he banned by again? I'll look into this.

    Edit:

Nevermind, found the ban. He was banned by Scootaloo for "Harassment and Death Threats for trivial reasons". There is a demo attached, so I'll watch it and get back to you guys.

    Edit 2:

He seems like he has problems. I don't know how you want to deal with this, Rhodo, but we are definitely keeping the ban. He seems a little unstable.

Take a look at the attached chat log screenshots:

Thank you for posting this. This isn't exactly an acceptable response to whatever harassment befell him. If someone actually was harassing him I'd suggest we look into it, but to me it looks like he's severely over-reacting to something rather trivial. Based off the screenshots I find it a little hard to believe that he was unjustly banned, and that there's some kind of harassment-promoting conspiracy within the tf2 staff. #PuppetsandSecrets

  5. I know there was a thread for this, but it's old and I don't want to gravedig. Now, I'm not really someone who tends to notice the music behind/during a video game. However, I bought Bloodborne when it came out and started using earbuds instead of just normal speakers (a lot of people on the bloodborne subreddit recommended doing this so I decided to give it a go). As I was facing off against the final boss, I couldn't help but notice the absolutely beautiful piece playing during the fight. This is probably my favorite song from just about any video game ever. Just in case there are people that don't have the game and are planning on buying it, there are boss name spoilers in the title so I'll hide the video.

  6. For someone who left the clan on such poor terms, I expect to see actual vouches (I would use Dethman's vouch as a template) on this submission. Any vouch that contains the phrase "cool guy" in any form will not be counted.

  7. Also another couple of quick suggestions is having an updated staff list for all divisions on the general and staff lists in each division section (I think it is like that but if not) also demote the staff who are not even staff anymore on the forums. AND have rules for each division in a seperate section in each discussion so people can easily see them.

Also maybe have a hello section and a goodbye section in the hello goodbyes but that is just me. I am done now. What do you guys think?

I meant to start this but foolishly thought I could get it done during AP testing. All I really need is a list of all the current tf2 staff (other than the DM's/DL's) and I could probably whip it up pretty quickly.

As for the separate sub-forums for helloes and goodbyes, I think it's kind of unnecessary, but I'm not

really opposed to the idea. If others think it's a good idea then it's fine by me.

*EDIT*: Here's a (presumably incomplete) list of current tf2 staff I gathered over the past ~10-15 minutes by looking through recent promo/demo's. If one of the tf2 higher ups (@kbraszzz @metalslug53 @Moosty @Ohstopyou @Rejects) could just look this over and just message me the names of the people I missed that would be great.

  8. I would ignore him (block on social media that he's harassing you on, steam, etc.) and continue to collect any and all evidence of him harassing you. I'm not entirely sure what Google's policy on stuff like this is, but I'd imagine that you could be able to get the account taken down if you notified google and reported the account. Just keep collecting evidence (timestamps included, just in case) for now. If he goes out of his way to continue harassing you, you might be able to press charges, but with the internet and it being international I really wouldn't be able to tell you how it would work out. If it gets to the point where you're serious about pressing charges I would just speak with an attorney.

  9. My uncle went to the same high school that I'm currently at, and for their senior prank they bought thousands of live crickets and poured them over the balcony that's above our cafeteria during lunch. You probably wouldn't be able to get away with this nowadays but it'd be good for a chuckle or two.

  10. On a semi-unrelated note, it'd be really nice if we could update powers on the steam group as well. Currently, none of the CL's (except for Silence and Nom, but they were Leaders up until very recently) have neither officer or even moderator powers on the steam group. Considering that Forest still has powers and we don't shows how out-of-date the powers are on the steam group. Updating the information on the steam group would probably go much quicker if CL's could get steam group powers (additionally posting updates/announcements would be easier with more people available to post said announcements).

    @Rhododendron @Nomulous

Also if someone could invite me back into the group that'd be great. Darkwolf kicked me out like 3 times when he still had powers and I haven't been able to get back in since.

  11. Offenders wouldn't learn anything from that. They would just shugg after a ban and be like "meh, they'll vote me on the forums". It would a better system for the person who initiated the ban to remove it. A ssuming they feel comfortable that the offender acknowledged what they did wrong and it wasn't a major type offensive.

People are just going to keep doing the the smart-a ss ratings until that feature is removed on ban protests. Warnings really won't help anything, unless the person is doing it on every ban protest thread to troll.

I like this idea. Our current system (for the most part) revolves around a community decision. While this seems like a great idea on paper (a democratic way of handling bans) a lot of the time it can quickly devolve into a popularity contest. If someone is friends with higher ups, or is just viewed by the community in a more favorable light, they're more likely to get unbanned. Getting rid of this bias is pretty much impossible, but giving the banning admin the final say on whether or not the offender should be unbanned could help to eliminate as much of that bias as possible.

I'm a little busy this weekend, but I should be able to write up something along the lines of a "code of conduct" for handling ban protests. I'll post it as a reply here so we can workshop it.

  12. Ah yes, Sweden, a proud member of that exclusive pantheon of countries dumb enough to invade Russia during the winter.

    kappa

Also, please don't make any more of these "insert random country name here" threads. One of them was enough. If you really feel the need to post something like this, just make it a reply to one of the existing threads.

  13. Just throwing this out there, there doesn't appear to be any real spam. I checked his chat logs (which have time stamps, so you can tell if it's spam enough. Here's a link) and I can only find one instance of spam. Every other lenny face was separated by about 10-30 seconds, so from what I can tell there was little to no actual spam. However, this does not take into account the server rules broken by Chronon (re-entering armory, gun glitching), which (unless you can provide evidence suggesting you did not break these rules) justifies the server ban as far as I can tell. Based off of the "evidence" (if it can even be considered that) presented by @Akame, Dethman does not appear to have abused his powers. Unless you can present actual evidence that supports the notion that Dethman abused (hint: copy-pasta's don't count, screencaps/demos are preferable), I'll be closing this thread within the next 24 hours.

Also @Dethman and @Akame please try to refrain from arguing needlessly, all it accomplishes is making you both look immature.

  14. So unless Silence's sage wisdom goes against me, I am unfortunately going to have to decline your member submission. Your application simply didn't receive the required vouches before the deadline of May 1st, making you too young in order to be accepted in xG. Feel free to post a member submission once you turn 16.

  15. A decision was reached, and Vector's in-game ban will be reduced to 6 months (meaning he will be unbanned on November 1st, 2015). Additionally, Vector's forum ban will be removed. However, this does not mean that Vector's behavior both on the forums or in-game (when his ban expires in November) will be tolerated by any means whatsoever. During the next 6 months (and additionally when his in-game ban is up) Vector will be under a strict probationary period. If there appears to be no noticeable difference (or possibly even a worsening of) his excessively belligerent behavior, Vector will be permanently banned. Basically, if he keeps up the kind of behavior that has been observed recently, he will be permed. Keep in mind that attempts to instigate or harass Vector in order to get him into reacting in a way that could result in him getting banned will be punished accordingly. Lastly, make sure that if you see something that you would consider to be evidence of excessively negative behavior, take down some kind of evidence. Whether it's recording a demo, taking a screencap of chat logs, it has to be something concrete. Banning people off of hearsay (not matter how truthful it may be) isn't optimal and leads to a lot of future confusion, especially in the event of a ban protest.

Trying to remove negative/toxic behavior in xG is going to be an incredibly lengthy journey, and will be a process that cannot be accomplished solely through the efforts of the higher ups/CL's of xG. While sometimes it may not feel like it, we're trying to listen to the community as best as possible while trying to preserve our own values as well. I personally apologize for the chaos that has enveloped the clan in the past week or so, and take responsibility for any and all negative/detrimental outcomes that may come as a result of our recent decisions (including this one). Additionally, I apologize for the apparent flip-flopityness of the decisions of the CL's (Hidingmaster excluded) and the somewhat inefficient method that was used for the carrying out of bans following the posting of the Toxicity Reform thread. In the heat of the moment I think we all just wanted to get something done and didn't really head into it as efficiently and cleanly as we could have. If anyone has any questions or comments, feel free to send me a message on steam or through the forums, or post in the "Opinion on Recent Events Thread" (please try to keep things civil and respectful).
