  1. As many of you have already heard, there are rumors floating around about Vector being unbanned from all xG servers and services. I am here to put those rumors to rest. Those rumors are all true.

To start things off, none of the CL's want Vector unbanned (as in, unbanned without any punishment). To try and claim that we want him unbanned to both the community as a whole and to Silence is so incredibly dishonest and deceitful that I'm honestly shocked. The discussion with regard to Vector's condition was very clearly still ongoing, and as someone who was actively involved in the conversation regarding Vector's unban I would expect for you (@metalslug53) to know that. There wasn't even close to a consensus between what the CL's felt would be the proper course of action, and to claim otherwise simply is wrong. Yes, Penguin, Lee and I felt that Vector's permanent ban was too harsh, but at no point did we ever claim to want Vector to be unbanned. The three of us clearly voiced that we felt that Vector deserved a punishment, but none of us had agreed (at that point) as to what the length of that punishment would be. The closest thing to a consensus that we came to was that (A) Vector should receive a slightly less severe ban (on the order of a couple of months, as previously mentioned), and (B) that when this ban ran out that Vector would be under and incredibly strict probationary period (as initially proposed by Moosty and agreed to by Scootaloo) and that if he demonstrated any of the qualities for which he was previously banned for that he would be permanently banned, no questions asked. Interestingly enough, this initial "compromise" is nearly identical to the compromise currently being worked out (proposed by DrLee, here's what it is, if anyone is interested).

Also, I really don't want to address the big ole' steaming pile of shit that is people threatening to leave the clan if Vector was unbanned. If your attachment to the community is so fickle that even the prospect of having someone on the server who has a negative impact on the server is enough to make you leave, then I really just don't know what to say. Leaving the clan simply because you think that we're making a decision which will have a negative impact on our community doesn't do diddly. In fact, it just makes the clan's condition even worse. If you really care about the well-being of this clan, prove to me that my decision was a mistake. Prove to me that my train of thought is completely bonkers. If Vector truly is as terrible of an influence as everyone says (and I'm not saying that he isn't), it really shouldn't be too hard to gather some actual evidence against him other than word-of-mouth. I have no problem with voicing issues about the decisions of higher-ups, but threatening to leave because you think we're making the wrong decision is essentially the equivalent of taking your ball and going home.

  2. While what Brian said certainly was crude/blunt, it really isn't worthy of a ban. Keep in mind that you can always make use of the 'report post' button in the case of a post or two, instead of making a ban request with little substantial evidence.

  3. During recent months, toxicity has become a major issue within xenoGamers. Recently, there's been an extreme amount of drama, toxic attitudes and just a general feeling of negative behavior. There's been a discussion between the Community Leaders, Division Leaders/Managers and Silence and Nomulous as to how we can begin to stem the extreme amount of toxic behavior within xenoGamers. As a result of our discussion, we came up with a series of reforms which we believe will help to get xenoGamers back on track, especially in the area of the community's behavior. We've combed through the roster of our members, and identified who we consider to be the most toxic and contributing towards a negative community environment. The memebers listed below will receive a punishment (of varying degrees of severity) due to their negative/toxic behavior.

Tier 1 (removal of membership and in-game/forum ban):

    -Vector

    -Iggy Iggs

Tier 2 (shorter in-game ban and/or forum ban, at risk for membership removal):

    -Gayporneon

    -Banginonatrashcan

    -SupremeWolf

Tier 3 (at risk for punishment)

    -Hachi

    -Bach

    -Fasty

In addition, we're going to be taking a more strict approach towards toxic behavior in the future. Keep in mind, just because the members were identified as having a negative/toxic behavior DOES NOT give you the right to bully/harass them in any way, shape or form. Additionally, please keep all replies civil and on-topic. Posts attempting to derail or harass will be deleted and the user responsible may be banned from the forums.

    Post @Nomulous Edit:

This thread is for informative reasons. Do not discuss or argue any facts that are written within the thread. If someone decides to comment, please do not add to a "shitstorm", you as a contributor may/will get punished for doing so.

  4. Thank you @metalslug53, @Bach and @ChickenPanda for the clarification. While I doubt that a situation like this will happen again in the foreseeable future, please let a Community Leader or Silence/Nomulous know before doing something like this. Without the context provided, what Bach did looked (and still kinda does imo) very sketchy and certainly appeared to be deserving of a permanent ban. I understand that this was for educational purposes, but without any context it really does look like Bach was using an alt account to aimbot for abusive/exploitive purposes. Once again, if the need for something like this arises again, use it only as a last resort (e.g. you cannot find any videos/demos of whatever you're looking for) and only after you have notified a Community Leader and/or Silence/Nomulous, and they have approved its use. Also, I have no idea who banned Bach, it certainly wasn't me.

    Basically, don't do this again.

  5. Division:

    Team Fortress 2

    In-Game Name:

    Bach

    Offender's Steam ID:

    Doesn't matter right now

    Rules Broken:

    Aimbot on an alt account

    Evidence:

Last night, it was reported (via an anonymous vigilante) that Bach uses an alt account for aimbotting. Essentially, the purpose of this thread is to discuss whether or not his main account should be banned (hint: it should, and there's a 1000% chance that it will), and to get Bach's input/response. If any of you turds attempt to turn this thread into a poop-storm (ex: the bobbywow ban protest) your posts will be deleted and/or you will be banned on the forums.

  6. How far would someone have to go to get banned harassment? And would a longer silence be more effective than just dropping the ban hammer?

From my experience, it takes a lot to be banned for an extended period of time as a result of harassment/toxic behavior. In my opinion,an extended silence would probably be more effective than banning for disrespect in a lot of situations. The vast majority of people who were banned for disrespect either (A) never came back to the server, or (B) became trolls and continued their behavior until getting themselves banned for a much longer period of time. Getting banned is a lot more frustrating than simply being unsilenced, and I would think that this "time-out" period would allow people to cool off, possibly avoiding turning random players into disgruntled trolls.

  7. Sorry, but I think I'm with Hidingmaster on this one. It'd be hard to manage, and it could easily be abused. If this does happen, a good starting point is just to give it to admins. We can see where it goes from there.

    -1 for the overall idea.

    +1 for trying it.

This. I'm all for trying this out, but we need to keep a close watch out for any potential abuse. The safest approach would be do a trial run with a smaller portion of current staff and see how it goes. If there's no abuse of ban editing powers, then I might be alright with giving "edit ban" powers to most, if not all staff.

  8. In theory I like this, but I'm really skeptical due to the potential for abuse. We'll just need to keep a close eye on whether or not it's being used properly when staff aren't on (and when they're on as well) and be prepared to make adjustments if needed.

  9. Effective immediately, all potential members must be at least 16 years old in order to apply for membership/staff.

    What this means

    • All current members/staff who are under 16 years old, will still be members/staff.

    • All pending member/staff applications that do not meet the age requirement will not be invalidated.
    • All future member/staff applications must meet this requirement no matter what, unless the age requirement is edited in the future.
    • Previous applicants of xG who are under 16 are still able to apply at any time!

For the entire month of April 2015, anyone not meeting these criteria may apply. Starting May 2015, the age requirement will go into effect.

If any higher-ups wish to discuss this change, feel free to reply to the essentially identical thread in admin discussion.

PSA: this is not an April Fools' joke, if anyone was thinking that.

  10. Effective immediately, all potential members must be at least 17 years old in order to apply for membership.

    What this means

    • All current members who are under 17 years old, will still be members
    • All pending member applications that do not meet the age requirement will not be invalidated
    • All future member applications must meet this requirement no matter what, unless the age requirement is edited in the future

How are people feeling about this change?

  11. The fact that your signature says "I don't like you breathing" clearly says that you not only want me to die, but you want everyone else who sees your signature to die. The fact that you would have something like this for everyone to see is vile and disgusting.

    #Jokesonlygosofar

Facetiousness aside, like I said in the "Iggy is a neo-nazi ayyy lmao" thread, there seems to be a lot of pushed buttons recently. The stuff we say in TS is essentially one giant shit-hose that everyone just loves to spray on each other, but the second someone spraying the shit gets some of it in their mouth they freak the fuck out. While I agree that this is over-the-line, a lot of the stuff we (myself included) say is over-the-line. I'll talk to Gayporeon and make sure he understands that what he said was inappropriate and that he needs to tone it down or there will be serious consequences, however this same warning effectively applies to everyone else. Stuff like this is totally inappropriate and shouldn't be said under any circumstances. However, unless you can provide some form of actual evidence, I see no reason to seriously punish someone off of word-of-mouth. All in all, I think we could probably all benefit from turning down the cancer meters and actually listen to what we're about to say before we actually say it, and believe it or not I think we'll see the number of these incidents decrease.

  12. It appears that you are still a member of another community (on your steam account you are currently wearing their tags). Since they have servers for games for which we also have servers, you're going to have to leave if you want to join xenogamers.
