  1. I'm pre-emptively locking this thread to prevent any further replies so I can have time to type out my reply without a shitstorm erupting.

Let's make a couple of things clear, Hidingmaster did not delete your post, I did. The reason I deleted your post was because it did not contribute in any way, shape or form to the thread in general, and was made almost certainly with the intention of making Hidingmaster or anyone else in the thread aggravated. No one deleted your post to cover themselves up. Your first thread was closed for a reason, just because it didn't go the way you wanted doesn't give you the right to post a new one. Make another thread and you will be banned.

  2. Well, since this thread has long since been derailed, I'm gonna go ahead and close it. I apologize to those who haven't gotten the chance to congratulate or commend Armin, and I apologize to Armin for some of the grossly insensitive comments made on this thread. With the exception of a few dummies, we're here to support you during what may be a difficult transition in your life.

  3. If it can maintain a steady population for an extended period of time, I'm all for it. I would use the temp server as a short-term experiment, and if people show some interest in it I'm fine with converting a dead tf2 server into an official server. If it becomes an official server, starting with one server and expanding to more if demand is there seems like proper course of action.

EDIT: forgot to mention this, I can schedule a populate event for Friday/Saturday next week in order to garner some attention for the server.

  4. and 15 seems like an unreachable number

How is 15 vouches an unreachable number? 30 people make up the TF2 staff, and there have to be significantly more people who are just members. If 15 vouches is unreachable, then we have major problem with forum inactivity from TF2.

Anyways, this was Silence's decision, so I'd like to hear his opinion before I leave my own. I'll try to get a hold of him as quickly as possible.

  5. The whole "changing the positions" thing is pretty much as ideal as it could be made in my opinion. I don't know how much this has been discussed, especially after Penguin announced his resignation, but make kbraszz a Community Leader. He is by far the best candidate in the entirety of the clan for the position, and essentially the only person who I would recommend for it. While this will make it so we have an even number of CL's, it really isn't that big of a deal to me; we can just defer to the Co Leader for the tie-breaking vote in the event of an even vote (the Senate does the same thing with the Vice President). There are a couple of issues here which I'd like to quickly address. Since it appears that the staff roster is up-to-date, I'm going to use this weekend to revamp Cookie's megathread, and I'll probably use this new chain of command in it.

    Tier 8: Super Member [xG]

    • Gains a few server perks that are fun.
    • Gains a teamspeak title
    • These are for members who help the community by promoting it
    • Also can be given (if we can use/have a referral system I keep bugging Silence about)

I'm not entirely sure how we would implement this without the referral system (maybe some kind of donator reward?). With the referral system this should be a reward for 25 friends recruited. However, this new rank (and the other ones, like New Member [which in my opinion shouldn't be a rank in the first place]) should not be included in the standard chain of command. Adding new ranks that are essentially rewards will only serve to confuse chain of command if they appear to be part of it in any way, shape or form. In my opinion, this is the only new rank that should be included, while Honorary member and New Member should be scrapped.

Additionally, I think the title of Super Member should be scrapped and replaced with titles representing the ways the title/reward was earned. If people donated for these rewards, give them the donator tag on forums/teamspeak. If someone earned the rewards through the referral system, give them a forum and teamspeak tag called "Referral Master" or something along those lines. Super Member implies that they have some kind of authority over normal members, when in actuality they really don't.

    Tier 6: Forum Moderator

I think our forum staff is large enough currently. No matter how much staff we have, there'll always be blind spots when staff aren't able to respond to an issue immediately.

    Tier 10: New Member [xG]

    • These are just "New Members", literally. They get promoted to Member after DMs see that they're active. This is just to promote activity.

Define active. Is this in-game activity, forum activity, teamspeak activity or something else? Looking through activity logs, most of our newest members still seem to be active after getting membership, so is this rank really even needed in the first place?

Kind of unrelated, but I can start to set up tournaments for League of Legends every couple of weeks. You can submit a prized event application on Riot Games' website, which allows you to essentially host an official tournament so long as we have 8 teams or more participating (keep in mind we don't have to have all eight teams before applying, the event is open to the public and just about anyone who plays on the North American League server can participate). If our application gets approved we can set up an official date for the tournament and our event goes up on a big calendar on Riot Games' site (essentially promoting us for free to potentially thousands of people). Their website has an FAQ with the answers to basically every question about this so if you have any question I'd go check it out (link). There are recording services that can record all of the games in the tournament, so we could even make montages out of the highlights and post them on our Youtube channel (which really could use some life).

Now that CL's have powers on the Steam Group, I can start scheduling populate events. We can have one every Friday and Saturday night, and each week we'll promote a different server. One week it could be Saxton Hale, the next week it could be CS:GO Jailbreak, etc. Since CS:GO Jailbreak is now (basically) up and running, I was going to schedule an event for later today (and probably tomorrow as well) in order to help populate the server. We could do contests with rewards for the winners (hub points, I guess it's dependent on the server, maybe it could be something simple like a TS group). This would be pretty simple, like trivia contests or rewards for people with the highest frags at the end of each map rotation, etc. Also, at the very least all DL's should be given moderator powers on the steam group, possibly even all the DM's as well.

  7. This thread is probably better suited as an abuse report rather than a member protest, so I'll move it over real quick.

If this guy has a history of abusing his paid mod powers, why was he allowed to get his powers back after repeated(?) incidences of abuse? A couple of bucks isn't worth the bad reputation that you can receive with an abusive mod running around. Unfortunately, I can't remove his powers unless actual proof of some kind of abuse is presented. If he really is as abusive as he supposedly is, said evidence shouldn't be too hard to collect.

  8. I didn't really want to reply again until everyone had voiced their initial thoughts, but since some people are taking so long to reply (*cough* @ThePenguin @DrLee *cough*) I'll just go ahead.

Obviously something concerns TF2 to want to perm him and I would like to know why.

Just for a second, let's put all context and names aside. If we have a player who is currently serving out a ban, does it make any sense to lengthen their ban (before the expiration of the current ban) without the introduction of any new evidence to warrant the extension of the original ban? In my opinion, there simply isn't, especially since there have been literally no opportunities to observe his in-game behavior since the time of his ban. From what I can tell, it just looks like Ohstopyou has a grudge against Vector and went to the person most likely to give him what he wanted. Let's just wait the ban out and see how his behavior is in-game, instead of just assuming that he's still going to be toxic and perming him while his ban isn't even halfway expired.
