  1. For example, go take a look at the history for this set of Earbuds.

At the top of the page, you will notice a big red exclamation that states "Warning! This item appears to have been duped."

This particular pair of Earbuds is appearing in multiple backpacks at once, meaning it has been duplicated. To the average Joe, it's just another pair of Earbuds, but many seasoned traders would not pay full price for this particular pair of Buds.

  2. Wow really... I have never even seena duped item or had that happen tome ever before... that's silly.

Yeah, it sounds strange and unrealistic, but a while ago, there was an item duplication exploit that the public caught wind of, resulting in the duplication of a lot of rare items. The way the TF2 item server reads these duplications is by assigning the same item ID number to all copies of the duplicated item, even if they appear in different backpacks at different times. It may seem trivial, but it heavily reduces the price of items, especially things like Unusuals and Earbuds.

  3. Wait so... I'm can't play on the server if my backpack isn't public? but then I get all those fudgeers randomly trading me for my CS:GO stuff :(

This rule is specifically in place so that people can check the history of an item. If someone is trying to sell an unusual, you can't look up its history via BP if their inventory is set to private, and it's quite a big deal. Looking at an item's history is the only real way to check if an item is duped or not.

  4. So, @ColdEndeavour and myself have been working tirelessly to make our Unusual server absolutely flawless. He is currently fixing a few things with the map layout and adding a Sniper arena. While he works on this, he tasked me with drafting the ruleset for the Unusual Server, and I feel like I have covered most of our bases. I just wanted to make sure it was thorough enough. @Nomulous, let me know if there is anything you think should be added or changed.

    Here is the list:

    xG Unusual Server Rules

    1. DO NOT cheat, exploit, or grief.

    2. DO NOT scam others.

    3. DO NOT use inappropriate sprays (Porn, shock, gore, etc.)

    4. DO NOT use bigotry, racism, or vulgarity.

    5. DO NOT spam chat, mic, or weapons/taunt sounds. (This includes prepubescent voices on mic.)

    6. DO NOT send random trade requests.

    7. DO NOT use derogatory terms to describe low-tier Unusuals, such as “Cancer” or “Shit-Tier.”

    8. DO NOT beg for free items.

    9. DO NOT post external links in chat.

    10. DO NOT misrepresent your item statistics. (Such as claiming an item is “1of1” when 22 exist, etc.)

    11. DO NOT use weapons other than melee items in the Boxing Arena.

    12. DO NOT advertise that you are buying Quick-Sells. (Advertising quicksells is allowed.)

    13. DO NOT abuse Donator perks or spawn bosses.

    14. ALWAYS be respectful to everyone.

    15. ALWAYS use English only.

    16. ALWAYS make sure there’s no more than one person on the mic at all times.

    17. ALWAYS seek out Mod/Admin approval before a raffle.

    18. ALWAYS seek out an Admin as a Middle-Man when engaging in a Spycrab valued anything over 5 Keys.

    19. ALWAYS keep your Backpack public!

    20. ALWAYS record all Spycrabs as a precaution. YOU are responsible to provide proof in the case of being scammed.

    21. ONLY members of XenoGamers may wear the [xG] tag. Apply at xenogamers.com for membership.

    22. All decisions made by the Mods/Admins are final.

    23. Breaking any of the above rules can result in a kick or a ban. Please follow the rules!

  5. Also, in all fairness, I did extend my interest in being a Mod to Vector when he asked if it would be something I'd consider doing. I explained that by being promoted, I could actively work towards improving the quality of things, so sometimes we DO have to communicate our interest in promotions.

I just dislike the notion of some random user asking 50+ times for a promotion. That's what annoys me, I guess. It's not just the communication, but it's the effort alongside it.

  6. Also, I'll be damned if anyone thinks I am NOT doing my best to make this a better place. The Unusual Server can serve as proof of my efforts. @ColdEndeavour and myself have been slaving away for the past week to make sure everything is just right, and even now we still aren't finished with everything. I'm constantly in servers participating and doing my job, and I would LOVE to receive a promotion, but am of the opinion that if you ask for a promotion, you probably shouldn't get one. Promos should be awarded based on merit and effort, not persistence and requests.

  7. The amount of unnecessary drama on these forums is cancerous. What makes it worse is when the higher ups are pressured to make decisions based on the given scenarios with little-to-no context, proof, or adequate communication with the parties involved. That's how people get demoted and that's what causes members to leave.

I can't begin to tell you how close I have come to leaving this clan myself over the past week. The paramount levels of discontempt among our members physically makes me sick to my stomach. But, even though there are people I cannot stand in this community, even though there seems to be some big production every single week, even though something nearly drives me to leaving this group once and for all, I always remain resolute and stay. Why? Because I want to see this community grow.

We have a LOT of potential to be a GREAT TF2 community. We really do. We have a LOT of resources available to us that are being squandered or misused, and I want to see the potential fully bloom. Our Unusual TF2 server is one of the best I have ever been in. All it needs is people to populate it and I can almost GUARANTEE that it will become a well-known place. Our Trade servers are fun, engaging, and exciting. All it needs are people to trade in them. Our Forums are an excellent tool for communication and discussion. All it needs is a bit of tidying up and for its members to work on their maturity levels a bit.

xG has become my unofficial TF2 home. I couldn't leave this place if I wanted to. I've made some excellent friends, made excellent memories, and helped to make excellent servers. The only thing holding us back is our inherent inability to communicate and work with one another.

  8. because it doesn't annoy YOU as much doesn't mean others feel the same way. like i said, almost every unusual server i go on has the rule and it works quite well.

Also there's a difference between saying "i'm buying quick sell unusuals" and "i'm looking for offers on 4 buds"

Hence the reason I asked. I want a unanimous group vote as to whether or not we should allow it. =D

  9. I disagree with how you say that people are homosexuals if they say that they're buying quicksells, but I agree that it is annoying.

However, it is still a form of trading. As long as they don't constantly spam the chat/mic with it I see no reason to have it against the rules.

My biggest issue is that the Unusual servers that allow the broadcast of people buying quicksells are usually spammed 100% of the time with nothing but people looking to undercut prices. It becomes a headache rather quickly.

Like I said, I don't mind if people CHOOSE to sell their hats at a discounted price, but seeing "Spending 30 keys on quicksells! I only pay MY price." is quite frustrating.

  10. admins should only be middlemen unless the person who wants to be the middleman is accepted by another admin.

So basically, Admins only for Middlemen, unless an Admin vouches for the credibility of a Middleman? I think I like this idea. If said Middleman skips out on a crab, then it would be the Admin's head. That works.

 NO ONE NOTICES MY SWEET ADMIN SKILLS. - everyone else

    Hue.

  11. Sorry to the other Admins for not specifically mentioning you. All I was trying to get at was whether or not the Admins wanted sole responsibility of MM the crabs, or if they felt Mods could also help in this aspect. That's all. =D

  12. "That would mean Vector will have his hands full if our server takes root and generates a lot of traffic."

    I guess we don't exist @TwoZeroFour @Barmithian @BonfireCentipede

Edit: Honestly, it's kind of disrespectful that you act as if we (the others admins) don't have the same leverage. We pop trade servers (sorry if it's not TGH, but nonetheless we pop our other trade servers) and we hope you see us as admins for all servers.

I meant no disrespect, so please don't take it that way. I just used Vector as the prime example, as he is the TF2 lead.

I'm not saying other Admins can't middleman, I'm just saying he would most likely be the first in line.

  13. So, with the completion of xG's new Unusual map, our Unusual server is now live. It's my hope that we get a lot of attention to our servers because of this, as the map in itself is, in my opinion, one of the best Unusual server maps I have ever been on.

That being said, I think we need to discuss the rules for this particular server. OFC, being an xG server, all of the basic xG rules will be applied, however it being an Unusual server, I feel that there should be some additional rules put into place in order to cover some other basics that aren't really covered in xG's core ruleset.

    1. "Cancer"

This term is seen by many players as very disrespectful, even if it is true. For those of you who aren't familiar with the term, "Cancer" is used to describe Unusual hats with low-tier effects, (And sometimes low-tier hats themselves.) I've been in Unusual servers where they have barred the use of such disrespectful terminology, and I wouldn't be opposed to enforcing the same rule on our Unusual server as well. I feel that if the environment allows for disrespect that some players will not want to attend our map. This should be a discussion point: Do you think we should ban the use of the word "Cancer"?

    2. Quicksells

Another thing that is barred from a LOT of Unusual servers is the advertisement that one is buying Quicksells. Lots of Unusual servers believe that people who focus solely on Quicksells is detrimental to the Unusual market and prices of specific hats. I tend to agree. I don't necessarily want to ban users from SELLING at Quicksell prices, but advertising that you are only buying Quicksells presses a stress on the players in the room to sell for lower than they are comfortable with. Once again, this should probably be another discussion point: Should we allow players to advertise that they are buying Quicksells?

    3. RTD

It's no secret that Unusual servers aren't exactly combat-centric. RTD is an excellent plugin for use in servers that focus mainly on combat, so my question is this: Should we even have RTD on the Unusual server at all? There are some servers who do have large combat rooms that have the plugin enabled, but for the most part, as it stands now, our Unusual Map is not the most combat-focused map. So, should we allow the RTD plugin to remain on the server, where players can potentially roll into a No-Clip and kill/spawn sentries in important rooms, such as the opposing spawn or in the Spycrab rooms? As a moderator, I feel this would be problematic, especially when dealing with high-stakes gambles. If a high-stakes Crab was taking place, and somebody No-Clipped into the room and killed one of the participating crabbers, a shitstorm would ensue. I personally feel that it should be removed, or at the very least, certain rolls disabled.

    4. Mod/Admin involvement.

Most Unusual servers allow their Admins to act as middle-men for high-stakes Crabs. This lowers the risk of someone skating off without paying for a lost Spycrab. The level of involvement is very specific however. Most servers require an ADMIN to take in large-stake crabs, so do we want to keep it that way as well? That would mean Vector will have his hands full if our server takes root and generates a lot of traffic. Or, do we want the Moderators to also be allowed to act as middle-men for this server? Another discussion point.

    5. Donator perks.

I am uncomfortable with this one. Monoculus, HHH, and Merasmus will be VERY disruptive. I motion to bar all bosses from being spawned in this server. I'm sure you can understand why.

These are my main areas of focus that I want to clarify. @Nomulous , What are your thoughts on the matters at hand, and how would you like us to enforce these points? =)
