What a shitty thing say and useless comment. You made your vouch no need to put salt in his wound.

I talked to him and i can see he likes xG a lot and the community. However, these -1 are valid and you should take it to heart septik. You seem like a nice guy but if you are arguing it won't work. Also your reception to other -1 isn't very good. it's their opinions and you might as well just let it go, it's a sign of maturity that even if people -1 you that you aren't phased. We know you like xG and from the times i have seen you, you were a nice guy. I don't see you all the time so i'm not going to vouch but i just want you to know, that you shouldn't give up. just recognize the mistakes you made, perhaps apologize if you need to, and that will make you look great. You do care about the servers, also i don't see how informing other's about the rules is such a bad thing, he doesn't understand the rules he's just trying to help. Just don't be an ass about it. Good luck man, don't let the -1 get you down!

You took a step into the online world, aka the Internet.

Not to sound rude as that is not my intention, but when you're surfing the web or posting your opinion, thoughts, or what-have-you online, you're opening the door to random people around the world and you need to prepare yourself. People won't always agree, people won't always react with good intentions, and people will purposely respond in a way just to get a rise out of you. Long story short, the Internet isn't a very friendly place. The best way to cope with it is to accept that fact and to not let anyone get under your skin. The thing with being online is that it's nearly impossible to tell when someone is being genuine, sincere, sarcastic, etc; so take everything with a grain of salt and especially don't take anything personally. The worst thing you can do is accept what other people say as fact when it is merely their opinion.

If you feel that you're being harassed or are otherwise uncomfortable on the forums (or even in Servers), I implore you to seek the aid of a CM or CL to talk about it. Our CMs/CLs are very receptive and can help in any way that they can. But do keep in mind that more often than not, this is just something you need to learn from first-hand experience. Don't let people get to you, and don't let what people say or do define who you are as a person :coffee:

Just going to take the time here to tell everyone to calm down. Jesus, I haven't taken the time to look at the responses until now, and I see absolutely no reason for anyone to berate or otherwise respond in such a negative way to anyone. The intention of this thread was to discuss a possible alternative that would be mutually beneficial to both the Staff as well as the Player; that's all. Additionally, and I can't speak for Stickz, but is it a crime to want to improve our numbers by lowering the ban rate for trivial things? I see nothing but good intentions from Stickz, and yet it's all being treated in a ridiculously hostile way by the majority of those posting here.

This has all but been lost in translation, but the reasoning behind this was to support Players who would like a Staff Member on the Server then and there (from my perspective of posting this thread). Players who are otherwise disgruntled or frustrated are far more likely to abuse the system, but for good intentions; should they really be punished by being banned for a day for it? I get that it can be a nuisance to have to deal with spam in Steam due to the nature of the plugin, I really do, but when it comes down to it, is a day ban for alerting Staff really a good means to an end? A day ban doesn't seem like much to any of us, and I can guarantee that it certainly appears to be nothing to Staff, but do keep in mind that the Playerbase for TF2 does consist of a large number of younger Players; and I can almost guarantee that a good chunk of them will do whatever they can to play the game (on our Servers) or to otherwise enjoy it. I'm not ruling out the possibility of those who abuse the command for shits and giggles, but I just don't see how a minor inconvenience for Staff (messages in Steam) warrants a day ban; especially when it doesn't influence the Server environment to begin with.

At this point, it's clear that it's just wishful thinking on my part; but again, this was merely a suggestion that I thought should [at the very least] be considered. That being said, I'd like to #RequestClose this thread before it devolves any further as it has been poorly received and I see no reason to keep something up that is resulting in such turmoil.

What? It's our fault if someone abuses the plugin that literally warns them that they're going to get banned if they abuse it? By that logic we should just permanently silence everyone cause it's our fault for letting them say anything and possibly break a rule in the first place.
I'm sorry but that logic is just dumb

I remember joining the tf2 surf and it being barely anyone on but like 5-7 people. First person I made friends friended me because he thought I was funny and wanted to be friends. Hes no longer my friend because our relationship was like oil and water (First time joining was around the middle of February). I always remembered there being like no staff on so I obv would break the rules (not saying which ones lmao) and always used to see this god tier surfer on called Vacindak (coolest d00d on the server still). Couple months pass and its Summer break and there are more and more people. This is when I actually decide to socialize with everyone and make friends with people on there. During that summer we had this squad going on comprised with (these are the people I remember) Lemonvolt,Samualo,Vacindak,Lifeless,i love crippling depression, sex party (currently Plague),Tocsik (was named Grimm at the time),Grandpa Wolz,SupremePatriot, and Mr.Nutty12 . I remember it being super lit during that summer and I was known for being super edgy at the time but for some reason the server still liked me for it and I was persuaded by Vacindak to make a member app which was around Aug 21. Sadly some of the people I mentioned aren't active on the server anymore. There a chunk where new people come in but thats too much to type. I've been through so much with this community (whether it being fun or through arguments I still loved this place) and has been probably the longest i've been with a community/clan in tf2 (I used to play gmod before this but I quit that shit cus it was getting tiring).

Vertex I'm still kind of confused where this is going like people are given the choice of reading the rules or not (they're given a small list but it gives the player the option to view all of them). Now if they don't read them its their problem so if they don't agree with the punishment of breaking the rules its all on them. It really doesn't matter how harsh those punishments are because they're justified by this. Now not only are they warned in the rules to not abuse !calladmin they are ALSO given a warning before they submit their report as @Bello showed us. So already you have 2 warnings as to not abuse this command because they want to write ''xd le funny meme'' to the staff . Once they get banned its their problem for not reading the rules and warnings before their ban. Honestly I think the punishment we have now works perfectly fine and sends a message to the user as to never do it again.

-1 There is absolutely no reason to change the rule at all. The majority of the TF2 division agree with this fact.
A day ban is the standard for nearly all of our rules. The system for most of the rules is Warn -> Kick -> Day ->Week -> Month ->Perm. As trolling goes under this system generally, calladmin abuse should stay at a day ban as it's basically trolling. If there's a popup stating how you will be punished if you abuse the command, then clearly they know that if they are using the command with wrongful intentions.
Not to mention how getting silenced for a day is laughable whereas a day ban would send the message better.
I see no reason for debate here.

YeEternalTuna reacted to Egossi in Regarding The Calladmin Plugin
the point wasnt whether it being 1 day, 1 week or whatever else, i really just meant that i find the idea of silencing for abusing calladmin unnecessary, and imo a day or less than a day would be inadequate and anything more than a day would be more harsh and irritating than a day ban itself

this could be a good idea, but i just don't see the necessity for any change
if anything has to be done, i'll go with the idea of both banning for an hour/a few hours and silencing the player for a day
but then again, i really think it's unnecessary
  21. Agree
YeEternalTuna reacted to Egossi in Regarding The Calladmin Plugin
Nah, I think silencing people for a day would possibly even turn abusing calladmin into a trend on our servers, given how much of a troll most of our players are. Doing that for a week would be harsher than a day ban also, which is why I personally think we should just keep our current system

My dudes, keep in mind that we're talking about Team Fortress 2, not real life.
Spamming calladmin when no staff is on is not the issue, abusing is.
We're not cops, we don't get paid to do this stuff so if we get on and someone just did it for le memez it's even more annoying.

This is a warning and you have to press a key to confirm that you've read it. Like no offense or anything but it's really hard not to see that.
