It may only be a 1 day ban. But I don't think it should be a ban to begin with. I was banned for "Punishment Evasion - Comment on Profile" Though i dont feel commenting on a profile is evading a punishment as i am not talking in game. Therefor there is not punishment tot be evaded. The punishment was to keep me from talking on the server and i have in no way evaded that.

Will a more indepth thread be made in the xG-News section of the Forums? Just curious as it would receive better saturation than it would here in the General section (especially because it applies to Xeno Gamers as a whole)

There's no point to dwell on the issue of someone -1'ing an individual based on if they see them or not, as A. we will not allow that to be a valid vouch and B. We will implement an appropriate requirement of activity on our servers to address people's concerns.

You fools. You stupid, crazy fools.
Do you realize what you have done? You have effectively opened the floodgates to them all; this will be the end of vouching as we know it.
The structure and integrity of vouches have been buried alive, and I can hear the collective whispers of the damned as the time draws near.
They are coming. You have doomed us all.
The uprising of the "+1 cool guy" is at hand.

All jokes aside, I'm pretty skeptical about the new system. I never really saw a problem with the old system where upon reaching 10 positive vouches, the applicant was accepted (where any negative vouches would reduce the total positive) after 24 hours of receiving the final 10th vouch. I completely understand the idea behind this movement, but exclusivity at the cost of getting 10 vouches didn't [and still doesn't] seem like some impossible feat. It gave Players something to work for (as opposed to a generalized ratio of positive to negative vouches which is in effect now) and they could see in real-time where they were at in the review process in terms of monitoring their positive vouches.

I personally feel that quality is far better than quantity, and that's what we got when letting Players in to represent Xeno Gamers as a full-time Member through the old system. It ensured that we let quality Players in, not just any Player off of the street, and it gave Xeno Gamers this sort of respectable air around it. Joining Xeno Gamers felt like an honour (to me at the time) and so it felt great to receive all of the vouches I did because I worked hard for them and was rewarded for my efforts by receiving a full-membership. The number of vouches not only gave the community an idea of who the Player was, but it also enabled the Higher-Ups to formulate an opinion themselves because, more often than not, it would take weeks to get in at a time. It gave a decent buffer time for Higher-Ups and enabled them to weed out any Players they deemed 'not worthy'. 2 days just seems too few to really judge a Player.

That all being said, if the end-goal is quantity > quality, then it's certainly more effective in that aspect. However, this is all just personal opinion, it's just good to see an active interest from the Higher-Ups in improving Xeno Gamers in any way :coffee:

Do keep in mind that there are many contributing factors to how often you may see an applicant which is why it is rarely a legitimate reason to negatively vouch for someone (unless the rank site shows otherwise). Most prominently, the largest factor is the possible time-zone difference between yourself and the applicant. Like Aegean said, there are 24 hours in a day which allows huge flexibility in terms of when a Player actually hops on the Server. At the time you may be playing, the applicant may be in school or at work, and vice-versa.

Additionally, you should only be negatively vouching if you have a valid reason to be doing so. If nothing comes to mind, you should not be going out of your way to dig up some dirt on the applicant, so-to-speak. If the applicant plays on a Server that you do not play on, then you should have no sway on that application (assuming this is your only reason to negatively vouch).

Of course you can give your opinion on the applicant if you have a reasonable understanding of their character or have interacted with him/her, but again, you should not be negatively vouching based on how often you see the applicant as this is completely subjective and otherwise unfair due to the number of Players who don't play on every Server but have a selective one or two of which they prefer.

    Now I'm pretty sure that your thinking, we went over this, there's no point of getting a discord server when we have team speak! Bad spoops! ;w;

But hear me out for a bit. I'm not saying we are going to replace team speak with discord. I'm just asking for one. Here's some point why.

    1. Discord users: I don't use teamspeak because when I first got it, it looked confusing and bland. (My opinion; not saying that I'm superior and always right calm down those people) . When I got discord it was more simple and more attractive is some ways. Also I noticed (in the tf2 division) people started to move to discord servers and creating their own. I want to bring xenogamers into this server to let people have some experience of this type of communication.

    2. Security: Now I read a post about discord servers not being made because of one the main reasons, Security. You say that it going to be hard to give each people their own privacy and the content not being secured. I've actually been moderation / Administrating ( they give me admin when some ad happens they say I'm like a super hero kek) of a mobile game stream server. There the security of voice chat, text, and powers are balanced and secured. How do we do this. Role powers. Individual roles can allow role invites chat invite and voice ch invites. They can also customize their own voice text ch like in team speak. I'll would tell you more how but it takes some steps and process that I'll later explain if this goes through or has a chance. (Tired af right now ;w;)

I will personally help out xg's discord server in customization and security while still giving owner ship to the cl or dl by them just created the server in a quick 10 step. You can leave the rest to the staff there or me to finish or address problems.

    3. Fun: now in discord when I mean fun I mean like actually fun times. Fun times to try these bots, fun times to share memes, fun times to share screenshots or picks, fun times to share music, and other stuff. Ask Tatost, Isabelle, and Nitnat (the 3 Xg member discord I go to) to see what discord can do.

    I hope didn't waste your time or maybe interested the Xg leader out there. I'm tired and I was just thinking so ya... here it is. Just wanna help ;w;

Honestly, i don't see why you couldn't just lower the requirements to like 2 +1s and not 7 plus an admin (at least for TF2). I honestly don't see how getting 2 members to +1 it is hard. A few times, i have seen people join not even be that much of a conversationalist and still get the vouches because they are active on the server and they see them a lot. Even two vouches seems to be fair because if you wish to join xG, it should take some part on the other person's end to get to know the community. a bunch of new members is fine, but what happens when people try to join the clan under a different name then what is recognized on the servers? For example. Say User A, was is a little bit of a jerk to the point where you can justify a -1, he can theoretically get in because some people just don't pay attention to the member submission, since it's lower down on the website. another concern of mine is that it makes it much harder to tell who is and who isn't in xG with the large amount of member requests that will theoretically be made. I don't know, i think it's just a very dramatic change, could it work? Sure, but i guess my concerns are about what could happen. I'm not sure what the community in CS:GO is like but there are a lot of silly people in TF2. Also i'm just a little concerned about dividing members between Juniors and Seniors. It makes me feel that there is gonna be a sense of superiority over people who haven't been here or who aren't that active on forums. I honestly think that we are all xG members, and just adding junior and senior might be a bit confusing or breed some unforeseen shit-posting. Trust me, I've been on other forums who have had problems like that where people fought over post count and other similar things. (Muthead.com being one of the worst offenders despite being a very informative website)

EDIT: also why don't we move the membership forum up on the website? As i mentioned before member submissions are at the bottom of the website, if you wanna push member applications, why not make an advertisement on the website AND move the members section up more and move some of the lesser used forms lower? @Aegean

I just reduced the download size of point-shop content from 90mb to 35mb. This will give us a massive advantage over other TTT servers. An average download speed can retrieve all server content (43 player models and lots of hats + trails) in 10s now or a VERY slow one in 60s.

The custom weapons on Morbus are only 11mb and there's a moderate amount of them. These will take a very long time to setup, rebalance and test for TTT though.

It may be possible to get away with keeping and pre-loading the 20 smallest maps. Having only 30s down-time between maps plus anther 15s for instant map vote completion on majority will be amazing! People who've played TTT before will already have a lot of these maps, speeding up the pre-loading process. I'm willing to bet 400mb will compress down to 100mb.

I've been following this for awhile now, and I think I'll share my opinions. :nailbiting:

I think switching over to this new system is a good idea.
Speaking from my own experience, if you can't distinguish yourself as easily as others (especially if you don't own a mic, or if it is broken like mine was until a few weeks ago), you didn't have a chance of being accepted as a member of xG no matter how much you played the servers, or how much you enjoyed your time on them.

This new system doesn't require users to distinguish themselves per se, which does show a con of the new system.
Others have correctly pointed out that getting into xG now doesn't feel like anything special anymore. Any applicant now has a high chance of being accepted, and we will end up with members who are like strangers to us. But is that really a bad thing in the long run?

I think this switch of how applications are accepted is a sign of xG's growth, and I'm pleased to see an increase in numbers even if it means sacrificing part of the blissful feeling of being part of a tight-knit community. In addition, Aegean wants to incorporate a system of 'member ranks' where you could progress on a junior-senior level somehow (by posts, time in-game?) which does help compensate for a rise in membership.
This way, members of higher tier represent "family" part of this growing community, and the lower tier members represent the "friends" part of xG.

I guess the question comes down to what counts most in being a member of xG, playtime/appreciation or being distinguished/knowing people. Both are valuable, but which counts the most?

So, after two months of my first application I am inspired to reapply soon. Plus, I have some friends who I can ask to vouch for me for good measure, and I can have some confidence that I'll actually be accepted!
In the end, I believe this new system will work out for the better. Even if it doesn't, there are checks in it so that no "bag-eggs" can join as members, and also checks in it should it completely fail.

Forest got a reaction from Aegean in Forum Updates - Suggestions
So, I'm curious to know as I've noticed that whenever a mass closure of Member Subs (Accepted/Declined) happens, it ends up completely filling the New Posts section of the Forums. I realize that it isn't common for this to happen, but it does happen every month or so and it completely buries all other threads (in general, not just Member Subs) which can effectively shut down the visibility of a thread or anything.

I'm wondering if there was some sort of change or function that could be implemented for Higher-Ups to utilize when dealing with the closure of a Member Submission? As an example, maybe a checkbox of sorts [Accepted/Declined] that will notify the user who posted the thread that their Application was Accepted or Declined that only Higher-Ups could access?

In other words, anything that could effectively replace a Higher-Up from actually posting in the thread (thus bumping it in Recent Posts) to prevent excess bumping of Member Submissions and the burying of other [un]related posts/threads @Rhododendron @Aegean

EDIT: @virr raised a good point that the "Delete thread" process could be re-worked or otherwise improved on for this sort of thing as it notifies the User. Is there a way this could be utilized for new options such as "Accepted" or "Declined" that closes the thread and notifies?
