1. Just to clarify, I'm fine with some sort of amendment against spawn camping, but I really hate the length of invincibility people tend to get with spawn protection.

Unfortunately there's a high chance we cannot do anything with spawn camping its self without a huge backlash from the community. Spawn camping has always kind of been a thing people in the xG community love. Spawn protection will keep the rules on spawn camping in place, while also making it more fair between the teams when it comes to spawn camping, as people won't die the second their spawn door is opened.

  2. Both servers have their own different communities, merging the two would create a lot of conflict. TGH maps don't go on Pokemon because they're not Pokemon related, Pokemon was made because we had an abundance of Pokemon maps a long time ago that were overly played. TGH has so many maps because it covers more of a general area for games, whereas Pokemon maps cover a small niche for one game. Merging the two would be a mistake, and as long as it keeps population I see no reason for getting rid of Pokemon Trade or TGH.

  3. As much shit I'm gonna get from this man, I have to say at least give a lower time on the spawn protection since snipers being able to destroy since sniper alleys are right in front of goldenrod spawns.

On a further note, I'd rather not have the spawn protection BUT if we do it would be tolerable if it was a lowered time as what we have on TGH.

TGH currently has 5 seconds of spawn protection on all maps, with 7 seconds on Saturn Valley. Most likely Pokemon Trade will have 3-5 seconds of spawn protection, I'll talk to Bello about the specifics of how long if the vote goes through.

  4. As requested by many people, this poll will decide whether we add a spawn protection plugin to Pokemon Trade. You will have one week to vote, only xG members may vote.

Edit: People are under the impression that adding spawn protection will stop spawn camping, so let me re-assure you. Adding spawn protection will NOT stop spawn camping, it will only give each team a fair chance of being able to leave their spawn.

  5. It will be a Towny server, we will expand on that next week on if people want MCMMO or not and to what extent.

I absolutely love MCMMO, it's probably one of the best plugins out there in my opinion, it adds a whole new level of progression to the game that keeps it enjoyable but balanced.

  6. Literally this, I swear people always snitch on other people without even talking to the person, and then say the person they snitched on is immature, maybe you should think that through lol. I'm sure if the people involved with this actually talked it out this wouldn't be a problem, now would it? Thats the problem I see with specifically with the tf2 div, is that most people in it don't communicate one another and instead just create conflicts that aren't needed, same reason I myself hardly play anymore.

The fact that you use the word "snitch" to describe this shows just how much you know about how things work. We're constantly telling people to record evidence of abuse and report it on the forums because staff should know better in the first place. If the incident isn't that bad, staff member gets a slap on the wrist, no harm done. You don't call the reporter a snitch, they're just doing what they're told to do. Using words like that will discourage others from reporting abuse/incidents because they don't want to be known as a "snitch" you see. Communication isn't the problem, the inability to pay attention to the admin handbook is. I try to talk to my DL's/DM's every day about trying to fix current problems because I do personally care a lot about these servers. I report anyone I see abusing their powers or breaking rules, even as a staff member.

Edit: Also @Kypari please do not namedrop people, it really does cause a lot of arguments.

  7. Some of the recent behavior from our staff has been quite disgusting if I may be blunt about it. Some seem to forget what micspamming is, others forget how abuse works. Guys I can't stress this enough, read the admin handbook, it'll really help you out in the long run. I'd even recommend keeping it open in the background or something, just in case you're unsure on how you handle a situation. There's also nothing wrong with asking other staff members what might be abuse or breaking rules, asking questions is never a bad idea. Also always remember to record any demos in case you think someone might abuse/break rules, evidence is the best thing you could possibly get if you want to keep these things from happening in the future.

  8. You were banned for trolling. Based on your name history, found here: Player Information | Xeno Gamers , you had used an [xG:M] Tag, which is staff impersonation. Based on your chat history, Player Chat History | Xeno Gamers , you were also being incredibly toxic. -1 for unban, also you had provided no proof but your own words for your protest, and It's also a 1 day ban, it's not even that bad. @Goblins @mrnutty12

  9. Hear me out but a friendly server with pony and minecraft maps would be lit AF.

But honestly, if I could offer a real suggestion, if I learned anything in xG it's that if you want to build a population on a server the server should be simple, Like one or two maps tops simple. Our trade servers are the Perfect example. Our most consistently populated servers over the course of the tf2 division by far, and for most of their lifespan they had a combined two maps, Clocktown and Goldenrod city. And when tgh almost died right before and while I was DM I was a big supporter of the controversial decision to go back to 24/7 clocktown to save the server, and it worked. Now tgh and poke trade are still our most consistently populated servers, and the map pools have grown. So if I had to give some advice, I'd say pick a really cool, expansive, interesting map with lots of things to do, that people are actually passionate about playing on, base a server around it, and work from there until you have an actually good server that people spend their whole day on.

Tl;dr: I've been here a long time, and we've done this throw some plugins on a server with no passion for the mode behind it and just hope population appears a bunch of times. It's only ever worked with ZF, and youtubers + good timing was the perfect storm.

We have a way better track record with starting simple and working outward than we do with throwing all our hopes on dreams at a server and hoping it sticks. Just stop the cycle it's kind of depressing.

As an example/suggestion, taking hyrule off of tgh and putting it on it's own server would draw more population than minimum 3/4 of the other ideas in this thread. You guys shouldn't be looking for modes, you should be looking for maps.

This rambled, sorry, I've just seen this exact thread with the exact level of fake urgency at least six times, it wears on the soul.

I'm going to have to disagree with you about that moosty. If there's anything I've learned, it's that the players make the server. Every server kinda draws its community around a few players because they're interesting or fun to be around. I wouldn't blame maps or bad plugins or anything on a server dying, it's just the community lost its interest. With so many other games out there and more releasing every day, you can't exactly expect all tf2 servers to keep a stable population after this long. It's been proven that we can populate any server if we just get a few people in it, those may being a select few personalities. If the whole "maps make the server" concept were true, TGH probably would've lost a lot of population when Nimbusland was removed. Besides, there's nothing wrong with trying something new at this point, it'll at least give a bit more variety to us.

  10. trade_unusual_lethaltf (Team Fortress 2 > Maps > Trade) - GAMEBANANA

A pretty cool spacey looking map, me and Vexx both checked it out and it's pretty big with a lot of places to go. There's also a few Minecraft nether areas with boxing rings and etc, which I guess helps give it some reason to be there.

Also I realize that it's sorta cutting it thin with using maps that only have some sections of video game stuff in them, though unfortunately it's hard to find anything that's fully video game related. Best I can do at this point is find things with some stuff in them and this map looks like it'd be really fun.

    @Bello

  11. I have an idea that could potentially help, and would make the majority of players happy, though it would take more work than slapping a .smx file and a map rotation onto a server.

We could always code an xG specific gamemode. This way we could have 100% control of what happens in the server.

Or if that seems like too much work, we could make a special xG map. If it were to act like our trade servers, just give the map a ton of things to keep players occupied other than spawn camping and trading.

I mean, we've recycled a TON of different maps and gamemodes but people will find a way to find exploits, or annoying glitches in 'em, or just generally get bored and stop playing. If we had something that's 100% custom, it could even replace multiple servers at once.

Think about it: a map built with a mini Deathrun game built in (can even be 100% automated if done correctly), a large area for people to dick around in like the trade servers, special areas for events to take place, hell you could even use it as an excuse to test new scripts and plugins. This way if we give players enough choices with a single map, then it should practically populate itself.

Now I may not have too much map making/coding experience, but this is a good excuse for me to learn. Plus, it could always be a team project. It would get done faster and incorporate more ideas into the map.

I just think it'd be a neat experience to have the community come together to make something that could be pretty good.

TL;DR: Let's make an xG custom, multi-purpose map, ya dinguses!

I don't think this would be realistically possible. xG doesn't have a lot of map makers, and I don't think the ones we do have would want to do something as difficult as this. This would take a lot more coding, mapping, and scripting than you think. You'd also have to find a way for each of those "game modes" to have their own restrictions and not overlap with another game modes restrictions. There's nothing stopping you from attempting something like this on your own time, though, I'd do more research to see if other servers have done this type of idea. Unfortunately I don't think a completely new and unique server would be the best idea anyway, keeping core community game-modes will generally keep population as they're already established and often-played.

  12. what? im literally not even talking about disrespect, im talking about people using certain words, and even if it's used jokingly they get warned/kicked/banned, and I dont get how you dont see it, literally everytime im on tgh someone gets silenced/gagged/warned just for being edgy and saying something like "lol kys", i think it's stupid

You seem to talk like you're on TGH really often. Based on your chat history, , you've only had 3 total connects this month alone. And going on what you said in your chat history, there was at least one time that you've connected that nobody was warned for saying "kys", so I wouldn't say it's literally every time. Though, considering that whopping 6.4 hours in the past two weeks you have on TF2, I don't really think you get enough activity to actually know the servers and what goes on in them. Maybe you should come around to TGH more often egossi and see how me and @Vixen handle things, instead of coming when we're offline to BM the two of us. Now lets stop derailing this thread and figure out how to keep the dead servers populated, instead of complaining about how others handle their staff positions.

  13. I'm not sure if that is even possible, however, you can use sm_removespray to remove the sprays of people who sprayed over another players spray.

I know it's possible as I've seen it done on other servers, just not sure how it was done. I'm sure there's a plugin floating around that has the option, I'll keep an eye out.

  14. I don't think you've played on TGH as of late, @Vixen and I have done a great job at keeping the people over on there in line with the toxicity and whatnot. As for the dead servers, I have noticed that if you get about 4-5 people on a server, a lot more people will join. Populating servers isn't hard, we just need to find people who will spend their time on there, and actually join when it's dead to help get the population rolling. VSH is a server I've been really wanting to see surge in population as it is a game mode I really do enjoy. The wario-ware server is generally always dead, sometimes gets a few people. Trade events isn't even used for it's original purpose which was as xG TF2 hasn't had any events in a while.

  15. I went searching on old map websites and here are some that I found (NOTE: I have not went and tested this maps on design and if they work, cuz im lazy atm)

    @Bello @Vexx @Vixen

Gonna test the minecraft and installation one. Lockdown is a common VSH map, not gonna even bother testing. Lavender town you're better off suggesting in "Pokemon Trade Map requests". Big city isn't exactly a part of "gaming history". We have the our Minecraft neon version because it's the one all the old people remember, trying to appeal to nostalgia with that one, and the quake map doesn't necessarily look all that fun to play.
