I play on trade servers competitively to compensate for my lack of awareness on actual gamemodes.

All jokes aside, anything that removes random intervals of a 3x damage multiplier is fine in my book.

Random crits being removed won't ruin the population at all? How would it affect it in any way? I want to keep random crits but I don't see how that is going to affect the population.

I'm an edgy scout who ruins fun because i don't like random crits? Also please don't project what other's are thinki

I don't like that people who want to keep it the way it is, are judging people who don't want crits as some sort of try hards that ruin fun. That's all i'm seeing in this thread. That's not fair. Again, i don't see why we can't get rid of random crits when we have no weapon spread.

Also, as other's have said, why not make it into a weeks trial? If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. (that is, if it does pass).

Yes, hi, and hello. Today I'm going to talk about the very controversial map, Edventures. This was both a requested map review and a personal map review.

    This map is trash.
    We're done go home.
Ok fine I guess I owe you all reasoning about why this map is so awful. Covering our basis let's talk about this biggest issue with this map, the bad memes. Meme maps aren't inherently bad by default. However there is a certain amount of over saturation and audio spam that brings you to the edge of insanity. Every time this map was on I consistently heard 13 year old and younger kids impersonating the "We need some wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeels" meme that gets played every time you step into the go karts. They were buggy by nature and had a "nifty" little button that made them go faster. Anyone in front was instantly killed. and of course like everything else on this map had some nice audio spam of an engine running. This is the tip of the iceberg folks. Buckle in cause we're in for a long ride.

There was a default track of Ed, Edd, and Eddy's theme playing in the background. While nostalgic, it became repetitive after a while. By nature it's not bad. Except for the random tracks of laughing, "allah akbar"-ing(from dropping a bomb,) and screaming from cows having sex on a trailer's roof(assuming you were near that area.) All of these things caused a lot of noise pollution. This is assuming you're lucky enough not to have the walky talkies being spammed, cut, and replayed. Those cursed words of "when you stub your toe" still echo on the deepest levels of my madness. There were more walky talkies hidden on the map but I'm not listing them all.

Now as I said this is a meme map with various easter eggs including Johnny test's severed head on a pike, Censored MLP porn, and many more trashy memes. The combination of audio and visual memes are enough to make most of sane thinking queezy. To this map's credit however, at least the memes are not overly saturated into a small area. Like many smaller maps tend to do, they shove as much content into a single space as possible to make up for poor quality. At least there is enough space to enjoy yourself before encountering the next meme, at least visually. It won't be long until you run across one though.

Next let's talk about the ever important map quality. It's as bad as the memes.
Now now clam the hell down and hear me out.
Yes I'm aware that the map is a reflection of the show it's based on. Ed, Edd, and Eddy by design were minimal. They were designed to be simple yet to the point. However, this map takes the concept too far in my opinion. Taking way too many liberties in lazy design. For starters the texture of the map is incredibly bland where everything not only is flat, but looks flat as well. What do I mean? If you were to look at the fences for example they have no shape. This would have been forgivable if the fences were consistent. The chain fences near the school actually have texture and shape. It's horrendous to look at visually. It doesn't end at fences either. Rooftops, trees and many other things have no shape. They literally are 2d models rendered in a 3d world. It's incredibly ugly

    .

The coloring and texturing of the environment are even worse. The map is a bunch of dull colors and flat textures that were slapped on. Now I want to point out that the show had detail in it despite it's minimalist nature. You had a certain about of depth that gave visual clues on the shape/texture of an object. The houses are a great example of this where they lose any kind of shading, layout, or design for a literal colored block for buildings. Here is a picture from the show of a house. You can see more detail in this 2d picture then you can on the in game 3d models. The glass has shine, the door appears wooden, the roof has a brick like texture to it. Hell even the pavement has more definition then the 3d models.

    .

Say what you will about me being harsh on the design elements, but I stand by my opinion that it was lazy. On a 2d plane they have an excuse for an image to appear flat. An animator doesn't have time to perfect the shape of a bush or roof. They just have to get the idea across. As a 3d model however, there is no excuse. "But it looks like the show" Yeah sure as a bland object I could have made with default blender items I could make an egg look like a bad spongebob pineapple. I'm not going to however because it would look bad. Same thing with this map. You have to make changes to make a 2d object into a 3d model. Including adding texture!

Alright in terms of actual gameplay this map isn't complete garbage. Still bad but not complete trash.
Lots of open space mixed with a niche little alley way maze allows for some fun playstyles you normally couldn't play on say hyrule. Outside of rocket and sticky pogo don't expect any sweet rocket jumps outside of occasionally hanging out on the roof. This map very heavily favors scouts, snipers, and pyros over other classes. The obstacles let scouts have a lot of fun sneaking around and causing mischief to snipers hiding in the neighborhood. Pyros have plenty of fun hiding in the alleyways waiting to catch their victims by surprise. Snipers can just sit behind a building or on a roof and have vision of almost every part of the map that isn't behind a fence/wall. So expect to be sniped, spawn camped by scouts, and dominated by ninja pyros. There isn't quite a lot to do on the map outside of finding the memes. There are a couple easter egg rooms including that bad meme room and a sheep room. Neither team is really favored over the the other in terms of spawns. They're both equally bad being teleport spawns, rather open, and unprotected. It's not the worst map to favor sniper but it is still not wise to walk out into the open.

Overall this map is bad. It attracts the worst of the tf2 community with bad lenny binds, memes, and other general garbage. I'm not even covering all the exploits the map had. It's a very bland map. It was poorly designed and executed. It's size does not compensate it's quality in any form. I'm glad the map was removed and you all should be happy too. It was funny for the first week it was added but after a while it starts to really show how bad it is. For those of you saying it's not based on a game, you're wrong. Look up Ed, Edd, and Eddies mis-adventures for gamecube/ps2 and you will be disappointed. There was a racing and pc game but we don't talk about those. I would never vote for this map, most certainly nominate it.

The map is ripped, which is why the buildings are "incomplete". Link was never meant to moon-jump lol. But yeah, I was trying to port Castelia City from Pokemon Black and White into hammer map editor, and the same thing happens. The tall buildings look really nice on the DS, but then you load them up and you realize they're not actually 3-D lol.

Actually the reason why you can't get into the garden/ Zelda's garden, is because the monoclues boss is bugged, it may be the map version we have, but I found a version on a different server that had the boss working, but it had little moons in spawn that would take them somewhere else close to their spawn to avoid spawncamp, and I think people would get angry over the tele spawns since you can't spawn camp those (Cause of tele-spawn camp rule). Still a nice through review

    Yes, hi, and hello.
Xg has a lot of maps and an even longer history of them. I think it's about time that we talk about what makes or breaks a good map.
What better to start off with then the closest map to 24/7 we have Clocktown.

So, right off the bat let's talk about spawncamping. Love it or hate it. It is a part of xg. A lot of this map has been simplified to "It's a good map if you're on red team." Which for the common server drop in sounds like enough. I am going to say a very unpopular opinion on this. It's easy to camp blu, but it's easy to break out. The problem I see a lot on this map isn't the camp itself, but the players who refuse to break it. I have seen blu camped with nothing more than 1 medic, 1 demo, and one gunslinger engy. Blu refused to break out of it. This doesn't happen all the time but it is commonplace. People want to go on a trade server to relax and not feel pressured to participate in spawncamping/breaking out. That's what the !friendly command is for and all it's glitchy glory. To the next side of things when people complain it's too hard to break out. Which is silly. Rtd is a tool that any single player can use to break out of a nest. Likewise defaulting to spy then leaving a single chokepoint is going to get you killed. Pick a power class like solly, demo, or heavy. If your team already has one go medic. There has only been one time in which I've seen a spawn camp literally be unbreakable on this map. All blu went friendly except one player against 3 sentries, a vac medic, and a heavy, and he refused to use rtd. Needless to say I don't think spawncamping is really an issue with this map as prevalent as it may be.

With that out of the way let's talk about the nitty gritty of the map quality.

This map is fairly well made. The glitches are minimal and the environment is fairly accurate to the actual game Majora's Mask.
There are a few complaints that I have. For one the area where you face skull kid and link's garden are inaccessible without noclip. An easy fix would have been to open up the areas during the last day at midnight. The skybox is inaccessible as well without noclip but that is fairly common.for maps. The next issue that I have with the map is that the buildings are incomplete.

To be fair, this was an issue caused with porting a game that had no intention of elaborate jumps in these areas. As tf2 is significantly more vertically accessible than Majora's mask. So I can give a light pass on this problem.

This map has a few fun things to do like usable ocarina buttons and secret areas for you to play with including the credits room and observatory. The map is plenty spacious and grants open areas, tight corridors, and of course secret areas. This map doesn't particularly favor any class and can be enjoyed by most anyone. However there is an elephant in the room. It's played way too often. This map as good as it is gets tiring as the interesting things you have access to starts to become nothing new. Unfortunately I think this is what causes players to default to spawncamping for enjoyment. I think that this map in moderation can be very enjoyable. Anything played too much starts to become boring and saturated.

Overall I like this map. I would just like to see it less often. I know that many of you won't share the same opinion so feel free to share what you like/dislike about the map.

    TL;DR
Spawncamping happens. The map is good in quality, but is extremely overused.

So about a week ago I found out that xg had a slender fortress server. (yes I'm aware I'm slow.) so I was just wondering who else even likes slender fortress cause I personally love the game mode. Maybe we could play sometime cause why not. And if you didn't know about it, It's a thing. Personally I'd like to get on it more but because noone else is on it's hard to enjoy it and I'm sure others feel the same. So I guess this is kinda a request for us all to chill and get spooked :3.

Will there be people who leave TF2 for Overwatch?
    of fucking course.

    Is Overwatch the TF2 killer?
    of fucking course not.

Are they completely different games who shine in separate aspects?
you bet ur fuckin ass they are.

The people claiming Overwatch will kill TF2 have clearly never played Overwatch.

The game is so radically different from TF2 that it's laughable to think it'd be considered the TF2 killer.

Exactly what @BelloWaldi said. There is no intent to get rid of spawncamping all together; just regulating it so we don't lose population at times.

Ms.Spooks reacted to Moosty in Possible Change To Spawncamping Rule?
Hey so I know that spawncamping is, and will always will be allowed. we have the rule that admins+ can break it if it goes too far, but we never really specify what too far is, so I think we should try and do that, I have two major clarifications I think we should make.

    1. NO SENTRY CAMPING TELEPORTING SPAWNS (spawns you go through a teleporter to leave)
it's just impossible to break. even with uber you cant leave spawn with it as the teleport breaks the uber chain, and the half second before you can reclick is more than enough to screw you over.

    2. IF MORE THAN THREE PEOPLE ON THE CAMPED TEAM LEAVE, BREAK THE CAMP OR AN ADMIN WILL BREAK IT FOR YOU
Not only is it not fun for half the server, it negatively affects the population, which makes randoms less likely to see the server in the list, which negatively affects pinion revenue, plus more people just leave until @Vexx @Vixen and @Kitsune are alone on clocktown because the entire blue team left.

these are common sense changes. we've already been enforcing these when possible it would just be so much better to have official clarification.

    what do you think? @BelloWaldi @Scootaloo @Rejects @Goblins
