+1 For the rule to be edited instead to "Do not use calladmin as a troll." Something along that line would be nice.

Is that not the purpose of the rule as it stands currently (that and things such as spam or just general trolling)? The rule listed in the motd states not to abuse it, nothing about not using it while staff are on. That being said, addressing this is important as the concept of banning someone for using calladmin when they are actually trying to address an issue seems more than silly.
 

This seems like a decent solution to the problem as it gives players a subtle solution other than calladmin to report various issues in manner most people don't know is an option. The warning to abuse it could easily be added to the motd alongside the rule about calladmin.
 
Something I would like to address with this, is now there is the potential that players simply don't know staff are on at all if said staff are using staff titles and haven't spoken in chat. Not only that, but if staff are using tags in their name this still could leave newer players to the server oblivious to situation, and use calladmin as it's may be the only way to address the issue in their eyes.

To answer why I didn't apply sooner...
Well, this actually is my second time applying. When I was told you needed to be a member to have tags in your name, I tried applying ASAP, but I didn't get any ratings. I wasn't well known on the servers then, nor did I have a mic that wasn't busted up.
Then, the application changes were going on, so I waited another 2-3 weeks. Part of the reason I waited so long is because I wanted to make sure that I'd be a worthy member of xG by the time I reapplied, regardless of the new application system.

I played a bit of iron back in 2014, we got to the 3rd round of playoffs I believe. I don't really have the time to play comp anymore but if you want, I can help y'all practice to prepare you for UGC. Also, is it going to be highlander 9v9 or 6v6?

hey guys this is just a quick note for staff to know if you are moderating deathrun.
 
The map dr_dungeon_beta is a fantastic map, no doubt about that and I don't want to see it removed and neither does anyone else. But there is a map exploit which allows players to bypass 2 traps without giving the death a chance to kill them. I don't believe this is intended from the map designer and therefore players should not be doing this.
 
The exploit occurs in the area outside after the lift down. To do the exploit players much crouch jump onto the wall and if done correctly they will be on an invisible ledge which allows the players to run through the entire outside zone of the map without risk of traps. This is undoubtedly unfair to the death and the players playing fairly that players are able to do this bypass.
 
Now I'm not going to support the map being removed as its such a great map and everyone enjoys it, however I am putting out this message for our staff to take note of and to be wary during this part of the map for any players attempting the exploit and to punish them accordingly.
 
we shouldn't let one or two bad apples spoil the bunch.

Admins are professional in dealing with those who have broken the rules, giving the trouble-makers plenty of warning/chances to correct their ways before they are caught in the path of the Ban Hammer's swing.

Try eating ginger, drinking aloe verde juice (buy from store). Maybe Turmeric, too if I remember correctly.
They should all help relieve inflammation, reduce pain, plus give your immune system a boost.

I first joined xG TGH looking to make some trades, but quickly fell in love with it felt homely in such a tight-knit server and play both TGH and the Pokemon trade server almost every afternoon.
 
First off, I want to explain the time I was banned like three of four months ago. It was my fault, basically I didn't know that tag rule and put [xG] in my name without being a member. I should've read the guides and rules on the forums before doing this, and Thunder was very kind to me and reversed the ban.
 
You're welcome to check my post history or whatever and look into the ban yourself, point is as a member of xG I promise to respect the rules I am now acquainted with.
 
The reasons I want become a member is because I really would like a TF2 community to call home, and I have come to appreciate xG as a really chill place to hang out. Also, I'm getting kind of annoyed that I can't vote on polls or comment/vouch for those applying to be members.:dead: x.x
I also enjoy contributing to xG, even if it's little things that design project I attempted and Patriot finished for me.

sounds good, I do love community events and minigames for prizes. I have hosted lots of different types of events too ranging from fashion contests to soldier/demo katana duels.
 
and yes only ever do these events when there are staff present and they have given their authority to middleman and/or judge the event.
 

 
I would say no, mainly because if someone does not play fairly or does not give prizes it can only lead to drama and shouts of scamming on the server which not only makes the server look bad but if there are new people playing it could put them off returning if they see xG as a place full of scammers. I highly recommend these events and gambles take place only under staff supervision at all times.

Adding badges for where you are a "member" is counter productive to the goal of reducing the amount of segregation that is prevalent within our community.

I personally think they should as it's literally just hub credits. No one is going to run away.
If moderators cannot do it (for whatever reason) then I believe if they are trusted they should be able to. EG if they have a trust page such as this Kypari!'s Trust

So apparently staff doesn't know how warnings work on the servers based on recent incidents, so I'm going to go over how warnings should be issued.
 
A normal warning: You tell the player through All Chat (which is just a single @ before your sentence in public chat) OR Voice what they are doing wrong. If the player does not acknowledge when using voice, give them another warning through All Chat, before punish them for their first punishment.

Players should know why they were punished
When you punish a player, make sure to let them know why they were punished so they can improve.
Example: Person Y freekilled person X, you slay person Y and respawn person X. You need to tell person Y why they were slain. Something like "You were slain because you freekilled person X." works.
 
How past warnings work: If you warn a player for something in the past and they do it, don't immediately jump to banning them. Depending on the amount of time it has been since their last warning for the incident, you may need to warn them again to remind them not to do it. 1 warning per week is good enough for someone who is repeating the same offense. If you feel the person has committed an offense too many times you can jump to a kick.
 
Now keep in mind, you can skip warnings for certain things. An example of this would be: Hacking, micspamming music, exploiting, etc. Generally if you are unsure what to do about a situation, feel free to ask a fellow staff member. If you're still unsure, please look at the staff manual here: TF2 Staff Manual (Everything you need to know!)

This brings up something ive noticed in this thread.I'm not saying anyones opinion is wrong, since this is an opinion based community poll, but I will say I see some people treating a map being gaming history related as reason enough for us to host it. And atleast in my opinion, a map being gaming related should be the bare minimum for consideration, not the standard requirement for getting through. A map can be gaming history related and still low quality.

I mean I personally like the map sometimes so I think I'm going to -1 this based off that

MassCC is actually pretty fun sometimes. Me and @Thunder got everyone on the server playing things like sharks and minnows and whatnot with the entire server. Of course it's not gaming history related but it's pretty fun when you can organize things

The concept was that it would allow Players to speak out against abusive Staff without fear of being judged or scorned. That being said, it just turned into a place where people would fling insults, flame each other, and just spawn racist or offensive shit-storms that no gaming community would want to be associated with. I don't think it would be the best idea unless rules were to be put in place that rule against any derogatory, offensive or graphic content; however, even then I would still be hesitant because we're a Gaming community, not a discussion forum for Politics/Religion/etc. If anything, see if you can convince @Rhododendron to create a separate blog or something for that kind of content. The Xeno Gamers' forums should remain focused around gaming and other creative interests in my opinion :coffee:

I agree with having a forum section where we can just talk about anything unrelated to gaming. Although we do already have a lot of sections covering different aspects such as artwork and music and these sections get little to no attention so an off topic section could also be a ghost town.
