I'm leaving xg for good. This is my only and last formal goodbye. In case you didn't know what happened I'll sum it up. 7 months ago now I took a break from being staff for personal reasons that I chose to keep to myself. Tf2 wasn't fun for me at the time. The drama in xg was unbearable at that point. There were several decisions being made that in my opinion weren't in the best interest of the clan. No I'm not going to go into detail about them because I can't be bothered.
I came back roughly a month later 2 weeks after pyro update dropped and it took a lot of time an mulling over to forgive tf2. At this point I was hearing a lot from community members that missed me being staff(not just other staff) and eventually I was convinced to come back to staff. Now since I stepped down quietly I was expecting the process to be easy. It was not. Instead of resuming my position as staff I'm put unfairly into a probationary role solely because of 1 higher up's bias against me. I was being punished for no good reason.
I was assured that it's no big deal I'll most likely get admin back as long as I keep staffing well. I got mod quickly and ended up staying mod for the last 5 months. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. In fact multiple times I even considered just giving up entirely, but I decided to stay for the people in the community who actually appreciate what I do. I stayed because the servers liked having me.
I don't know what the accused hold up is now and quiet frankly I'm over hearing lies and excuses like I have since I first got staff. From the beginning it was "who the fuck is ms. spooks?" "You need to be more established with the community" "you need to do more." "I never see her online so I can't make a good opinion on her" etc. Now keep in mind since I was considerably new staff at the time it wasn't a big deal. However time started passing by and I've watch many staff (you know who you are) go from member to admin before me, and now they're dms before I've even gotten admin back. I kept asking what am I doing wrong and keep getting the same run around. "Nothing, why?" just to be followed up later with some half attempted accuse "Oh you just need to do more." As time went on that clearly didn't end up being the full truth getting comments like "If you did more you'd already be admin" "You're not entitled to admin" "You're too passive" etc. It's not fair that I do the same amount of work as an admin, spend more time than a majority of the mods, and have been an established community member for 2 years without even a blemish.
Now some of you will take this as an outcry because I didn't get a rank that's just slightly better than mod, however my problems run deeper than that. It's not fair that I had to harder than other staff the entirety of my time of being staff. It's not fair that I keep getting pushed aside for other staff who are better at sucking off the higher ups than I am. I'm done playing the charade of "work a little harder" "Do a little more" Because even with the backing of multiple staff and plenty of recommends it clearly doesn't mean jack to you. It's incredibly disrespectful not only to me but other people who have gotten this treatment to string us along like a grunt. I'm not your lackey. I didn't become staff to do your job, and I most certainly don't see anywhere that says I'm supposed to suck you guys off in order to even get looked at. It's beyond hurtful to continue to be punished for things out of my control and more importantly I didn't do.
This is my only request of all of you staff. If you're not my friend and you're only friends with me soley because I'm staff. Get the F U C K off my friends list. Get out of my servers. Get out of my life. I have enough garbage I have to deal with in my life and I don't need more fake people around who don't care about my feelings. Stop pretending to care about what I have to say then just doing the same garbage I'm complaining about. I have rooted for and defended most if not a majority of you even if we haven't been the best of friends. I've stood up for you and I tried to be there when you're down. It's funny to me how people forget the people who rooted for them when they get power.
I have been mulling over for the last couple days what all I'm going to say when inevitably I say goodbye after being shafted again for no good reason. So I'm going to finish this with a list of what xG should improve on.
 
1. Staff are volunteers not lackeys
This "do more" mentality and backwards logic of having more mods than admins is part of a huge issue that doesn't respect your staff equally. despite all staff volunteering their time and efforts to improve the servers and the community. Treating admin as some mystical, magical, special role that's Juuust out of reach feels really really shitty for all the mods who have to work harder than other staff to prove themselves.
 
2. Stop using probationary for no reason.
This is a punishment role. It's used for staff who don't deserve a full demotion but still want to make things right as staff. Likewise It's used for people who have a dirty history. Stop slinging it around for every person who you don't feel like fits the personality mold even when they've done nothing to deserve it. Stop using it as a compromise because 1 higher up doesn't like the person. It should be used to establish wrong doings not "We just trust you a little less."
 
3. Majority matters.
It's been a huge problem for a while where higher ups have to make unanimous decisions. What this means for all the other staff is that if 1 higher up disagrees despite everyone else agreeing on said thing. It won't go through. The voice of one is too strong in this community specially for higher ups who don't go on servers enough to see what is going on or that just choose to disregard the intent of the community and more importantly the other staff. To fix this, it should be that majority rules. It should be that the community or staff vote count for 1 higher up in of themselves, because giving the people no say is what's going to kill the community.
 
4. Be transparent.
All decisions should be clear, concise, and have good *valid* reasons. It should be your goal to be as unbiased, well informed, and clear as possible. This under the table garbage that's been going on is just sleazy. You don't want your real opinions out there and you don't want to be held accountable which quite frankly is an embarrassment to your role. Be open and honest with your staff and not just string them along with excuses everyone knows are lies. If you make a decision you're accountable to that decision. Don't just keep letting everyone else have to figure it out.
 
5. Stop only caring about people in your respective group.
This is a big clan with large divisions and even in tf2 large sub divisions. Its been an issue for a while that surf staff only favor surf staff and tgh staff only like tgh staff. Unfortunately it has even gone as high as the higherups. Just because you haven't played on the servers (which isn't a good idea anyways) doesn't mean you should give only people in your respective server the special treatment. If you want to be taken seriously you have to take others seriously as well. It's ok to get more information to form your own opinion, but it's not ok to say it's not your problem because it's not your server.
 
6. Witnesses matter.
I'm all for innocent until proven guilty, but some of you take this as an opportunity to ignore issues all together because no tangible evidence. Staff witnesses have just as much say as a normal witness, none. It doesn't matter how many people say a person did an action because without proof you're never going to confront the issue. You make no effort to gather more information. It doesn't help when you expect people to be recording EVERYTHING that goes on, and to be honest if you are wanting people who record everything just to nail one person it's a pretty sucky, bandwagony mentality.
 
7. Stop treating other staff like dirt.
This is to all staff. Stop staffing over each other when someone else has it handled. I'm not talking about you both get on at the same time or accidentally warn at the same time. I'm talking that another staff handled the call, they're already trying to resolve the issue, and you jump in gung hoe and start shafting them. It's not acceptable. Trust the staff members to do their job. Unless you have to make a decision that involves perms only you have as staff it should not be happening that staff are stepping on each others toes. Likewise, Mods are volunteers. Means they donate their time and energy into the servers just like you. Stop talking down to staff who are a lower rank and stop kicking them around because you can. Stop rubbing your rank in their face. They get it. It's not acceptable to disregard another staff as a whole just because they're a lower rank.
 
 
8. Share the interest of the community not just yourself.
There has been many times where higher ups have made decisions under the table that are looked at negatively by the community or ultimately effected them negatively. Yes we get you like this one plugin idea and the other higher ups are all for it, but when you implement it out of nowhere and it effects the players to the point of complaining about it that's not in the interests of them. Part of making the community a better place is by making it unified, and when you keep making decisions that effect a mass in the community you create division.
 
With all of that in mind I want nothing to do with this community anymore. If you're really my friend you'll accept that. I'm not going to keep getting a run around, doing your jobs, and investing time and energy into a clan who doesn't care about me back. I'm not looking for a debate here. I'm not justifying any of my points. I'm not going to bother responding so don't bother baiting for a response. No I'm not changing my mind. I don't know if I'll ever come back to xg after all that it's put me through. I don't want your excuses so don't bother sending them to me. I may still come on the servers once in a while but you're not going to get much out of me here. Goodbye xg.

BIAS??? Really? Did you not pick up that I was saying I don't know him at all? How can I ignore how he has been recently if we have never talked in the first place?
The entire point I was going for was that I have literally no other point of reference as to his character based on my experience. Tell me how I can be biased against somebody I don't even know?
For all I know that could be an advantage, a blank slate minus one dated event.
As for how he did as staff, well to be frank I didn't play on either of the trade servers quite often at that time so I didn't see all that much from him, and I am sure you are well aware of how that term as staff ended (the cause for my concern).

Of course you think he should have a chance at mod, he is your friend.
Also the question was not of his capability in the first place...
 
In as simple of terms possible; I was telling Sesh that if he wants me to change my vote he better well try to at least help me get to know him.

Lan as the genuine and likeable guy you are I am very thankful you talked about the obvious issue outside of the thread. Never have I seen a moderator be so liked whilst being firm and fair on the rules, you have been single handily keeping players on the pkmn server as we all know it is sadly dying so I want to thank you for that here on the public forums.
 
I am definitely preaching against a mass who are heavily against me based on bias and I do not talk to any as I just enjoy the server. I hear from time to time how I am a topic of discussion of some sort of discord or some steam chat is sent to me but honestly it doesn't phase me. I knew being alone trying to stand up for yourself doesn't go a long way when a clan is split into groups, especially when you are protesting against one of the members in a group.

This is far from the first time I've had to warn either of you two about this behavior. If you genuinely do not understand how using a bind for the sole purpose of trying to agitate another player could be against the rules to not disrespect or troll someone then I don't even know where to begin. When someone is clearly upset for you doing such, how is it hard to understand to respect their wishes and not be a prick to them?
You use these binds for the sole purpose of trying to instigate a reaction from him as well as mock him, acting like a child repeating what someone else said.

It does not matter who started what, it's insane to think you would find this the appropriate way to behave towards someone else. You've straight up followed him to a different server in the past just so you could continue to disrupt and make fun of him.
 
Now in terms of your history, it's incredibly clear you've had issues with harassing others and trying to start shit on the server in the past. One could argue that people can change and thus their past history doesn't reflect on them now. Your actions are anything but. You've continued this incredibly toxic behavior both in the past, present, and in between and have been warned about it a mindful number of times. You are always responsible for your past grievances especially when you haven't changed from the behavior that lead to them at all. When these punishments that were placed against you in the past clearly did not affect this behavior that you are still displaying, a more severe punishment is the only thing that could be put in place. A slap on the wrist didn't work before, why would it work now?
If someone is bothering you and aren't breaking rules, you can clientside mute them. If they are breaking rules, you can report them. At no point should you ever try to "strike out" back at them. You clearly don't understand that.

After being recently banned for 1 month for 'Trolling, harrassment' by @Elcark , for what is in my opinion unfair reasoning I attempted to add elcark on steam as I'm aware they don't fully understand the situation...however I was rejected so I'll make a ban protest instead. Following suit a ban request on 'Zack the shako'.
 
After stomping a player called zack the sharko on the local server of hyrule as soldier (y) he became agitated and aggressive on the mic, which I replied too. His main critque was that my grandparents are dead (strange insult if i'm honest as it's false) in which, i replied 'lol yours are the same', this provided me with the best response I have ever seen from someone online which he replied in chat after 5 minutes of voice crying: '
Scalie Zack the Sharko : My grandpartents could easily kick your fucking ass kid' which is probably the best quote in the world which has been designated as my '[' key.
 
Now this key gets pressed a fair bit when typing simply because it's next to my enter key and I love it. Zack has demanded across the server once that I can't use it even though he does it to other players... example(s):

I'd like to talk about my ban now - 1 month remember that, for 'trolling,harrassment' by elcark. Firstly in the rules there is no mention of not being able to have binds, sure if you had a bind of straight racism or homophobia that is different but in my instance this is a direct quote. If you are directly this quote to any rule it has to be disrespect - exactly what zack the sharko does when he plays. When entering the server he will usually shit talk all players yet still direct it towards me, I just ignore it after it it's a game. When I press the bind after his vocal littering he goes berserk calling all admins such as @Kypari and @Krampus immediately after the bind is pressed claiming it's not fair to use the bind even after his unprovoked shit talk. Another interesting point is the warning system, I was not warned about using the bind before the 1 month ban was placed. The only warning i received was from Krampus asking for me and zack to shut up, which after getting my point across and zack not listening i simply muted him. However I was informed he was still talking shit even after being muted and asked if he was on local chat and bam, muted! That mute is kind of justified as krampus was just trying to stop the situation escalating anymore, after that mute took place zack cursed and went off.
Further more, my ban was 1 month and the furry friend who is immune to the full consequences of his shittalking actions due to his furry friend admins only received a 1 day mute. :whistle:
Lastly I want to talk about zack's approach to justify why he can 'legally' shit talk me and other players on the server. He claims others are 'harassing' him by killing him and not talking by using the in game taunt system, for me however I was 'harrassing' him by 'following' him to the pokemon server (which i am in the top 10 players for and play there with queen) :D after getting bored on tgh. :thinking:

:thinking: Using ban history as logic for a future ban which is nearly a year later seems weak. A whole year has passed in that time. On to your second point: 'you reacted to it and decided to use this to further irritate him.' this point i can't fully understand as I had explained he was eventually muted as well as if someone is continually talking shit about you about a matter months ago(which most of you edgy kids still do - why i don't talk to 90% of you) you want to solve the issue and ask them, even when using logic Zack the sharko would not even listen and continue his splurge of nonsense. Lastly, your player chat history seems ok to me, zacks seem more tame in those instances but I can assure the voice chat was nothing of the sort. Perhaps if I am going to talk I should use voice chat instead as text chat is commonly used as evidence. Also Zacks' logs contain call admin spam and fully of lies :thinking: isn't call admin spam also against the rules? You can still see him initiating the chat also. Thanks winslow brother 2, but again year gap is still a long time think of the changes you were faced over 2 years (especially sam) :thinking: 'Multiple issues' since the last ban however I have not been banned for such thing? The bind was only posted after he immediately joined and shit talked me and my friend for being there - if you are claiming his ban - sorry his mute is justified because of 'he had been in trouble notably less than you have' that is complete aids and is favouritism at it's maximum fitness.

As mentioned above, using a players' past history of bans on servers is a terrible way to dictate a future punishment's duration. The common player the late teen catergory going into adulthood :thinking: . If you think a 1 day mute is a punishment for instigatin and pissing off a whole server and many of the regulars you need to re-think your policies.

Yeah we had a few hiccups but it's all water under the bridge now, no biggie.

So i've been thinking about this for awhile and there are many reasons for it.
 
First off, my biggest problem is how disgruntled, the TF2 xG community is. I'm not naming names because i don't want to cause shit or belittle anyone in particular because it's everyone in the TF2 div's fault, mine included for not doing a better job at trying to mitigate these situations. It's just the sad state of affairs this community is and frankly i'm tired of it. Everyone is at each other's throats with constant bull shit flung from both sides. This is also especially true in the staff community. Everyone has a clique and if you don't like someone they will try and do shit in their powers to get people they don't like demoted or promoted. I've heard ridiculous bull shit like people going on alt accounts just to instigate staff with the hopes of having them caught handling a situation poorly just for evidence to get them demoted. No one wants to help their fellow admin or mod. I'm not saying you have to be their friend or even like them for that matter, but to do some lowly bull shit like cut evidence up to make someone look bad or just being hypocrites and i'm seeing it is dragging into other divisions too and i'm really just getting tired of it. i was hoping @Aegean would make a thread about the state of the community of the tf2 division but that hasn't been created yet. If you're glad to see me demoted then fine. But it shouldn't be a good thing that a staff member is stepping down nor should it be a good thing that they were demoted. People in this clan go out of their way to not help moderators especially with their job on the line and it's pretty fucked. It also doesn't help that there is always a fucking problem. It feels like at least once a week there is this massive shit storm where it's nothing but shit flinging or passive aggressive comments, discord rants and so on. You might be thinking, well you will encounter this any where. That's true to an extent but for god sakes people. This is a video community, not some corporate business where you gotta step all over people to get to the top or some cliche shit like that.
 
Second, school. I'm leaving this sunday for school and will probaby too busy to moderate when trying to balance a social life, university and so on.
 
Third, Tf2 just isn't really fun anymore. i'm struggling to just get the hours to justify my admin powers and with this TF2 update not coming out to help light some sort of interest in this game it's becoming more and more of a pain. I'm sure many of you playing tf2 right now can understand how i'm feeling about how slow this update progress has been as i'm sure many of you have displayed as well.
 
Anyway, thats it, i'm stepping down. I will consider coming back in the future however as of right now, with school, little interest in tf2, and just the tf2 division as a whole, i think its my time to step down. Hope the tf2 divison gets their stuff together and i hope all of the mods/admins do a great job. Peace. i will probably still play tf2 every now and again.
