I've been using discord a lot more recently and I think it's time we consider making the swap as a community. Everyone has their respective points in this thread, but as of right now teamspeak is really just people in community channels, any of the real channels are rarely used.
 
I'll be brief with the logistics, but, Discord would be more beneficial compared to teamspeak at this point for our community.
 

We'll still have seclusion of private/community channels.
Everything we have on teamspeak right now can be integrated into our discord server (minus subchannels).
A truly centralized server for all the divisions, the popularity of our tf2 division might be able to assist our CS:GO division (or others) if we have an official discord. This would be the equivalence of CS members from teamspeak spilling over to gmod+minecraft years ago.
Furthering my previous point, all the members of our community will be able to socialize easily with general chats and open channels.
Announcements will be easier to do and get across our community due to the nature of notifications on the platform. People utilizing the discord server are more likely to see any notification from it.

I can't stress enough how powerful bots for discord can be compared to ts3.
 
Honestly, my argument in the past has been that bigger discords are a shit show to manage. This is due to me not being in a big discord that is well managed. Well managed discords with large communities are actually nice when you have an adequate amount of staff and bots for managing chat (typically, you want to automate this). So I will retract my statements from previous threads and say bigger discords can be managed successfully (if not better than teamspeak).

I agree it's nicer when it's a small group of friends, but having a 100+ people all in one discord would not be something feasible. I want to get everyone on the same VOIP which is why I want us to be on teamspeak. Anyways, thanks for the input regardless :)

The main reason I use discord is because in my own private discord I can do whatever I want, for example spam the porn bot with stupid shit until it breaks. I also like the privacy and how I am an admin of the entire thing.
 
Teamspeak is also super ugly compared to discord.

Not going to go into reasons why we don't have a discord after how many threads we have about why we don't have a discord lol. If you want to read the previous threads in General, you're more than welcome to do so.

Have you ever given teamspeak a try? Personally speaking, they are both very simple to use. pick a name, join a server, join a channel, talk. with discord you have a by default giant UI and your PMs stay open until you close them vs. teamspeak having a default small UI and PMs close when you close them or close teamspeak.
 

As a DM you should be readily available for any staff discussions taking place on TS and any questions from new players/members who find their way on teamspeak.
 
TS also has bots, that are available as created/allowed by the server owner same as discord, we just dont use them since they are pointless to have, the most notable features of the publicly hosted (free) discord bots are the same things as the twitch streamers, they announce when someone goes live etc. or put a song in chat, the same could be done by a regular person. You just have experience with discord bots because you "own the server" and invited a generic free use bot into it.
 
You can invite your outside of xg members into teamspeak, it is a public server for anyone that likes games etc. There is no stipulation that says you have to be an xG member, we have had people we met on tinychat join TS and stay for months and others we met randomly join and stay (hanney is a TS member xdddd)
 
The whole point of this thread is to understand why staff dont want to use teamspeak (aside from their circlejerking cliques about who their next target is to get demoted (see: vector step down) sp when you say "There's too many reasons to list" you do literally nothing to help this conversation and you make yourself as a staff member (especially a DM) seem like you just don't care about helping further the community or community discussions.
 

 
If the staff used teamspeak in the first place, you would be doing the same single message on teamspeak as you were discord, and if it is something major that really needs to be addressed to all staff instead of a "i'm logging off now guys" that should be something you message the DM/DLs of the division and let them handle distributing the information.
 
@Kypari you are basically saying you like discord because you have the owner power in your own server, sorry buddy, but that's life you wont have that power in teamspeak because you aren't silence. I think that is a joke of a reason not to use teamspeak for xG servers. you can spam a porn bot through PM in discord and break it just the same.
 
@Vargas and anyone else saying it's "super ugly" there are skins available that are IMO much better than discord UI but the default is also pretty nice.
 
 
@all most members and staff that step down or have issues state that there are fundamental issues within the community such as availability of discussing issues and availability of staff to talk to about concerns.
Myself personally I have had some questions time and time again about what exactly goes on in the TF2 servers and would look to message (preferably a DL/DM) a staff member from TF2 but the last dozen or so times the only one available to talk to was @Egossi on teamspeak, and before that was @Bello several months ago. By using your own several discord servers you actually drive a bigger wedge through the community by not being open to discussion about what is going on, and you make it harder for new/existing members or other staff to seek information on current events or ways things differ (clarifications on difference in rules/style)

So i've been thinking about this for awhile and there are many reasons for it.
 
First off, my biggest problem is how disgruntled, the TF2 xG community is. I'm not naming names because i don't want to cause shit or belittle anyone in particular because it's everyone in the TF2 div's fault, mine included for not doing a better job at trying to mitigate these situations. It's just the sad state of affairs this community is and frankly i'm tired of it. Everyone is at each other's throats with constant bull shit flung from both sides. This is also especially true in the staff community. Everyone has a clique and if you don't like someone they will try and do shit in their powers to get people they don't like demoted or promoted. I've heard ridiculous bull shit like people going on alt accounts just to instigate staff with the hopes of having them caught handling a situation poorly just for evidence to get them demoted. No one wants to help their fellow admin or mod. I'm not saying you have to be their friend or even like them for that matter, but to do some lowly bull shit like cut evidence up to make someone look bad or just being hypocrites and i'm seeing it is dragging into other divisions too and i'm really just getting tired of it. i was hoping @Aegean would make a thread about the state of the community of the tf2 division but that hasn't been created yet. If you're glad to see me demoted then fine. But it shouldn't be a good thing that a staff member is stepping down nor should it be a good thing that they were demoted. People in this clan go out of their way to not help moderators especially with their job on the line and it's pretty fucked. It also doesn't help that there is always a fucking problem. It feels like at least once a week there is this massive shit storm where it's nothing but shit flinging or passive aggressive comments, discord rants and so on. You might be thinking, well you will encounter this any where. That's true to an extent but for god sakes people. This is a video community, not some corporate business where you gotta step all over people to get to the top or some cliche shit like that.
 
Second, school. I'm leaving this sunday for school and will probaby too busy to moderate when trying to balance a social life, university and so on.
 
Third, Tf2 just isn't really fun anymore. i'm struggling to just get the hours to justify my admin powers and with this TF2 update not coming out to help light some sort of interest in this game it's becoming more and more of a pain. I'm sure many of you playing tf2 right now can understand how i'm feeling about how slow this update progress has been as i'm sure many of you have displayed as well.
 
Anyway, thats it, i'm stepping down. I will consider coming back in the future however as of right now, with school, little interest in tf2, and just the tf2 division as a whole, i think its my time to step down. Hope the tf2 divison gets their stuff together and i hope all of the mods/admins do a great job. Peace. i will probably still play tf2 every now and again.

I'd like to first apologize to you personally for the assumptions based around the argument this thread, and apologize to the other responses in this thread to make it seem like you were plagiarizing the map, and secondly clear some stuff up.
This started when a poketrade regular had the initiative to want to make his own pokemon map for the server, and was browsing the workshop. They discovered the past workshop link and then brought it to me which I then pointed it out to higherups. I was also trying to base this thread more so around the like-dislike ratio of the map than the "look at this guy he STOLE a MAP" scummy callout sort of thing. It came off as responses being +1's because of the callout rather than a formed opinion around the map. I agree that this thread was based upon assumptions that hadn't been researched before being said, and I also agree that the thread could've been more competently made. I agree completely. To clear up why I removed you, the word choice you used were pretty aggressive and I'd have loved it if you pointed out that what I was saying was incorrect in a decently respectful manner rather than calling me an autistic dumbass. My last point is that the place where (I assume) the "textures from HK" sign is stated is unreadable, as seen below, which is why I, again, simply only made assumptions off of what I thought was reasonable evidence.

Has an issue with either authority or listening, hard to tell which, because when staff tell him to stop singing over mic/breaking map specific rules, he starts doing them as soon as the staff leave.

For anyone that says Skelly wants mod back too soon, it doesnt matter. He was getting very bored of tf2 and everytime he got on a server it felt like a chore for him. he needed to take a break to make tf2 feel fresh for him again, and his break was very short. He's playing surf, tgh, and pokemon trade a lot now. He's playing almost every day.
 
For anyone who thinks he shouldnt get mod because he has a bad relationship with Tuna, he's trying his best to apologize. He did say some very bad stuff about Tuna, but he's trying to take it all back.

Me and Hina have decided it is best we close the Minecraft server for the time being while we work on resolving the issues the server is having. Thank you for playing and we hope to bring you the server back soon working and fully updated. Your current accomplishments, currency, towns and equipment all remain safe and I will be taking the extra step of saving a local backup to my computer.
 
I will post an announcement when Minecraft is working to the standards we are Xenogamers should be providing.
