the last ban request that was made about death threats was handled so poorly that most people didn't even bother coming back due to bias and favoritism of said offender. also the perms kept people in line on the servers because they know a ban will be issued if they are caught. I don't care if we're called hitler a death threat is serious.

This is a refresher. We rarely get threads from people who are actively seeking a Moderation position. I can honestly say that Hero of Hyrule definitely hasn't gone unnoticed. Deliberations will be made and this will be considered for our next Promo Demo. Thanks for showing your enthusiasm Osiris! We will keep you posted! It's nice to see this change. Sorry @Flareon , I know you're an alright moderator, but come on. xG servers aren't meant to be a place where you use terror to get your point across: the servers are meant to be for fun. Being way too serious and using fear to make people follow your orders is just wrong. If you inform them that they are breaking rules and notify them of the punishment, it's more likely for them to actually come back to the server and know fully well what is right and wrong rather than just shouting at them: "IF YOU DON'T STOP TELLING PEOPLE TO KILL THEMSELVES THEN I'M GOING TO BAN YOU, YOU FUCKING GOT THAT YOU PIECE OF SHIT?" or whatever.

SO getting pissed and telling somebody to kill themselfs is so bad u have to perm people? seriously?? telling somebody ur gonna have them swatted or track them down rape and murder them is far far worse, telling people to kill themselfs isnt okay but perming over it is over dramatice. i think silence wanted this more to be about people threatening to kill others or to kill themselfs more so then an angry "go kill urself" cause past issues within xG. surprised he doesnt run a background check on people cause of @Tarin chrono's favorite person ever. chrono smells worse then rabid's tiddiy sweat.

i'd say use fear and force on serious issues but be fair with the others on small issues (like the uber exploit) don't want to say names but some people made gave unfair punishments to some people because they know they can't say anything back without any backlash handed towards them.

First of all I would like to thank scoot also and the rest of the Tf2 div for listuning to my concerns regardless of hitory and collaborating with one another to actually get these damn rules correct. I normally gave people a warning beforehand anyways and they usually stop right then. Seems good I would like to say that I feel like this should mean that the several recent perm bans, like @jrulez8 , should be lessened in respect to this new protocol.

That was addressed as another concern, and I can assure you that if our Mods and Admins make sure to follow correct procedure, we will NOT have another blunder like that again. But you are right, that last thread was a huge mess. We are aiming to avoid things like that in the future. Also, you are 100% correct. Death Threats are a HUGE issue. However, telling someone that they should kill themselves isn't a death threat. It's disrespect. That doesn't mean it isn't severe, but it isn't as severe as threatening to track someone down and murder them, which is what is textbook definition of an actual Death Threat.

Alright since many people are dumb and don't know the difference between a threat and an insult. Someone saying "kill urself" isn't a threat, it's massive disrespect. The fact that this rule is "being discussed" is obvious that something so simple is not being discussed. 9/10 saying such horrible things is because of someone being upset and i'm not saying jrulez8 deserves an unban, he broke multiple rules. and @Matsi at one point we DID have admin disrespect as rule but was changed to be a global disrespect rule. If you wish to take a stronger action against such disrespect make it a 3 day ban or something BUT after following protocol (verbal/text warning, mute/kick, ban). and if he comes back then increase to a week and then a perm. To out right perm people for saying this is ludacris and eventually will start throwing perms around like candy. for example. this person was permed with the reason "death threat" mentioned before it's more than likely not a death threat. and this person hasn't been banned before so why the perm? Even with THREATS we gave each individual multiple chances especially with more serious suicide threats by individuals i won't name unless told to. and before you say "but there is no difference" yes, there is a massive difference between kill urself and i'm going to murder you. Kill urself is just edgy teenagers who found the internet and think being le epic maymay troler makes their e-penis hard, while actual threats are of obvious anger issues. Also @ChickenPanda Death threats against ANYONE is equally concerning. Staff aren't higher than others. An immediate perm is ludicrous and isn't fair, regardless of how the player acts. jrulez was indeed right in the situation however again i'm not saying you guys should unban him because his reaction in the thread alone confirms he's a total edge-lord. also @Diamonde next time please provide a screen shot of the chat logs and do NOT copy and paste, copying and pasting makes your evidence invalid. Someone didn't point this out to you so i'm trying to help you out for future reference. Ok, I also believe a insta-perm for this is not the best idea. Most of the times, it's probably just a mad kid that might've been just having a bad day (like if his significant other left him), and then we just outright perm him INSTANTLY, then I don't think that's the right course of action to deal with it, and the player probably feels like he was a bit wronged for not even being warned. And if you feel like you're I feel that it should first be a warning or a gag, and then if they keep doing it, then ban them for just 1 day. Sure, it might not sound like a long time, but the point of this is to show them that we WILL enforce the rule, and not just say it. Think of it this way, if someone bans you for 1 day, you'll still think about what you did and try to possibly improve it if you want to play on that server again. But if you get banned for 7 days, then the same effect will come out. If the one day ban doesn't do anything, then just perm them. So in the end, I feel that order should be this -VVVV- Warning (Gag) ---> 1 Day Ban ---> Permanent Edit1: After reading what @Forest said, I feel as we should possibly just re-write our social rules anew.(Different from server rules) Edit2: @Giraffes, it's meant to be a warning, because they might not know that saying "kill yourself" could result you in a ban. (Which in our current case, would instantly lead to a perm.) And before anyone says "why didn't they read the rules?". When was the last time you went on to some random trade server and typed in !rules/!motd?
