Under normal circumstances you would be correct in saying that anything done outside of Servers should have no sway on rules broken in the Servers; however, this does vary from time to time, especially when it comes to harassment or other abusive communication (text or verbal). Assuming this was the case, then the ban was justifiable. That being said, if this was simply a matter of a Player commenting on a Staff's profile to get a rise out of the Staff, then no, I don't believe this to be a justifiable ban in any way. Not only is this not disrupting the gameplay or Players/Staff on the Server, but this may very well be borderline abuse of power. Before this gets blown out of proportion, (also keep in mind that this is personal opinion) please consider the following: Staff are there to Moderate the Servers in order to maintain a healthy gaming environment free of rulebreakers, trolls, etc. Unless a Player is explicitly affecting the Servers (or is otherwise harassing a Player on our Servers) then there is no reason to ban a Player for their actions outside of the Servers. In other words, in order for a Player to be punished, they have to be affecting the Server as a whole, or, and this is a big 'or', they have to be a danger (IE. [verbal] harassment, threats, etc) to any of the Players in the Server (including Staff). Anything above or beyond this is an abuse of power from the Staff (depending on the situation). Staff are expected to receive a lot of slack for what they do, both ingame and out of it; this is a given. However, by no means should they be punishing Players for what they do outside of the game, especially for something as trivial as this. As a reminder, this is all personal opinion and should be taken with a grain of salt. I'd also like to point out that all Players, regardless of the reason, are entitled to post a Ban Protest; regardless of how frivolous it may seem to some. The point for many of these isn't that the ban is for a minor amount of time, but that the ban may have been unwarranted or unjustified. +/-0 on this Ban Protest. -

It even plays a cute little "ding" to when you run the command :3 I mean, little things like this many of xG's members could do! I know it takes a little bit of extra work on the Admins part, but why not just post the config files online somewhere, then allow the community to edit them? An Admin could then pick the one with the best configuration. This could save a LOT of time on configuration, where MANY of the problems (Spooks tells me) originate from. Believe me, I ran a Minecraft server for two years and my biggest folly was not accepting help from the community because I was worried about them abusing powers (and rightfully so, actually). But something like this would allow xG to work on improving the server as a community, without any risk of abusing any kind of powers because there are none to be abused. Just an idea. Going to talk to Rhododendron first, I will discuss with you and the other interested members about minecraft via forums or teamspeak later this week. -

Division: Team Fortress 2 In-Game Name: Mystery Mann ϟ Identity: STEAM_0:1:116525948 Ban Type: Server Ban Information: It may only be a 1 day ban. But I don't think it should be a ban to begin with. I was banned for "Punishment Evasion - Comment on Profile" Though i dont feel commenting on a profile is evading a punishment as i am not talking in game. Therefor there is not punishment tot be evaded. The punishment was to keep me from talking on the server and i have in no way evaded that. -

1 pointYou aren’t getting the point. You continued to talk about the topic I told you not to. Doesn’t matter where you did it, you still did it. The topic was based on you arguing with me (a staff member) about your mute. It was justified. I said for the discussion to be ended. You decided to be a wise-guy and comment on my profile continuing the argument. Please take a look at the rule below. Any unspoken loopholes in any of these rules are up to the discretion of staff members, if you try to use loopholes intentionally, you can be punished. Using my profile as a communication point is a loophole.

Testing is basically done honestly. Me, @Rejects, and @Spoopy have basically done all the testing that involves playpoints, most everything else stayed the same, all we need is music. -

Yes i admit i did do that. And i did drop it on the server where the punishment should apply to and only to. Punishing me for writing a comment on your profile has nothing to do with the server. Your job is to moderate the server which you did by gagging me and muting me but me writing on your profile yet again has nothing to do with the server. -
