    Spawn camping

Spawn camping is an essentian part of Xenogamers, and part of the reason our TF2 division is so popular.

    Spawn camping

So I ve been playing tf2 for 3 years now and on XG servers for 2 years and banning spawn camping is a poor decision and let me explain why. Most of the strategies on the maps we play on involve spawn camping or at least the ones I've found to be successful universally do. Lets take the example of golden rod city. You see about 4 or 5 strategies regularly, all of which would be classified as spawn camping. 1: snipers sniping from near there own spawn to the opposing spawn. 2: scouts who run behind the opposing spawn and kill said snipers 3: sticky jumping demos who caber the opposing spawn 4:pyros who and other friends who pick off people near the enemy spawn and 5: My strategy sticky jumping to the opposing spawn and using stickies on the door. This is how this map is played. Most frags happen in what i would call the spawn areas. NEXT TO NO FRAGS HAPPEN ON THE MIDDLE STRECH. Clocktown is a better balanced map in my opinion but again look at where the frags take place: Infront of the clock tower or in front of blue spawn. The main difference between clock town and goldenrod is that clock town isn't a gigantic stretch of land that allows snipers to snipe from the other side of the map like golden rod but it has tight corridors that are great for demo's and soldiers. Both spawns fall to sticky traps quotes easily but thats how the map is played. if you ban spawn camping then snipers Will snipe from spawn. And the spawns are too close together on clock town to avoid one team from pushing into each others spawn areas. Banning spawn camping Just doesn't work. It makes the maps unplayable particularly clock town as the spawns are so close to each other that about 90% of frags on that map could be considered spawn camping. Golden rod isn't much better. at least 80% of the kills I've gotten on that map have been near the enemy spawn or near mine. In addition I can't follow this rule. Its simple. When people snipe me Im going to try to kill them. End of story. And since people snipe in or near spawn on both maps Im going to spawn camp. And every one who regularly plays on TF2 servers will too and knows exactly what will happen. To support my balance claims Id like to point out my stats: On the former trade gaming history server/24 hour clock town: I rank number 1 with the stock rocket launcher number 1 with the sticky bomb launcher number 1 with the stock sniper and number 7 overall. I know these weapons and i know these maps pretty well. If you don't trust my opinion Many others support my opinion including @Vector @Kypari . Again this rule will push more people, including you're regulars like me away from servers. and won't solve anything

SO YEAH. I've been meaning to throw one of these threads up just to address some things in the TF2 division. Basically as we all know server population is fluctuating both positively and negatively. We're getting a lot of new members, but yet a lot of people are leaving. We have a ton of new servers and maps thanks to @ColdEndeavour, @Nomulous, and @kbraszzz. xG is changing a lot right now and what better time to change up one of our divisions? So I just have a few things to say that in my opinion will help out TF2 in the long run. If any one else has any ideas, feel free to add here or contact myself or @kbraszzz directly. FIRSTLY. The staff. Sure you can have flashy maps, and tons of plug ins, but staff is one of the biggest parts of any server/clan. Without staff, servers run rampant. Rules are broken, servers slowly get known as unpleasant places, and population declines due to that. A staff member should be kind, courteous, and helpful with whatever issues are brought on to the server. That being said, a staff member must be wearing their tags at all time on any of the TF2 xG servers. NO EXCEPTIONS. This is to show the people that aren't familiar with our staff team who in the server has power to assist. We all need to make a conscious effort (myself included) to portray this image on servers and on forums. (This includes screaming profanities/racial slurs, etc. This behavior is unacceptable) SECONDLY. Members. This delves a little deeper into my first point. Members are one of the first things a non-member will see when hopping onto our servers. Obviously wear the [xG] tags with pride and show people what xG is about. As previously stated this is not server exclusive, but servers should be a main focus at this point. Everything stated above to staff also applies to members. Treat others how you would want to be treated. Simple as that. That means do NOT make fun of a kid for his voice, exclude people because they don't like the same stuff you do, or think differently than you do. (Some very common examples) We're a gaming COMMUNITY after all. Everyone that joins should feel welcome and not threatened. We all need to work on breaking down the wall that the TF2 div threw up and start branching out. THIRDLY. PLUG INS. Not a very large point but still a part of servers. This includes hub as well. It seems that hub especially is mixed feelings ith the community. Some love it, others hate it. I know that RTD has always been a fan favourite, but some other plug ins that we're slowly adding (Last CT on JB comes to mind here) can cause the decline or incline of population. At this present time I do not know if the addition/subtraction will be a significant difference on our servers, but yet it is still something. This being said, I wanted to address all the broken plug ins that have layed broken for weeks, months at a time. If anyone sees bugs or issues with any plug in, contact myself/kbraszz. FOURTHLY. Servers/maps. This is my final point I wanted to say. We all have our favourite maps. The maps that we first joined in on and fell in love with. Some maps that come to mind are Celedon City, Clocktown, Click Clock Woods, and Hop_JB to name a few. Lets say your favourite servers was suddenly changed one day. Or the map you love so much left, you aren't exactly gonna want to stick around. You'll want to go somewhere where the map is present and alive. This is one of our main issues with the TF2 division and it's about time it changes. At this time it's just a few people making the decisions but we all need to come together and figure out what servers/maps we NEED and what servers/maps need the ax. I agree that we have a lot of servers that imitate other servers we have, and only one of the two servers are populated. This is why we need EVERYONE'S help to fix this shit once and for all. That's all I have to say for now. Just some shit I've been thinking about lately. Apologies in advance for bad grammar, punctuation or a repeated tone. (It's 4:20 am at the moment and been working all night so be gentle) AS PREVIOUSLY STATED. ANY THOUGHTS/IDEAS ARE WELCOME. TLDR. Don't be a dick, treat others nice, wear tags, and let's better these servers once and for all/

    Spawn camping

I'm going to defend getting rid of spawn camping. It makes the servers less fun, and randoms don't join. There will still be killing in spawn "areas". But stickying spawn doors and setting up sentries and dispensers to stop the blus from ever leaving the corridor needs to stop. It just makes it not fun. Have you guys not noticed how if red gets a good camp on blu on clocktown, after about five minutes blu has about 6 or 7 less people on it? Then the camping team even starts gloating. It kills population and kills fun. It needs to go. Having staff be able to discern what is and isnt spawncamping, while also implementing a short spawn protection would be ideal. Dont worry guys, it isn't like you would have to never fire towards a spawn, but setting up full team camps where you cant leave without rtd or godmode, it needs to stop.

    Anger management servers??

I've noticed a couple of staff getting angry sometimes and maybe we could make a server where staff can just abuse their powers to let out the anger. Or not idk its your choice Kbraszzz

Not to be a rule whore or anything, but since when did TF2 Staff have the jurisdiction to do this, and when/who permitted this to be allowed? I realize each Division has their own set of rules, but the general consensus of being a Staff Member carries over from every Division, ingame rules don't. Staff don't get their own special brand of law within another Server last I checked. Should also remove the whole "noballs" thing as that was phased out with the introduction of the Community Leaders. :coffee:
