  1. I feel like it would be easier to mass with a Pyro or heavy than with a demo so I am not sure I follow the logic there... as for usefulness they could have a zatochi and wreck face :p

    Not quite, heavy and pyro each have severe weaknesses, such as awful mobility and lack of effective range. The demoman however, can output roughly the same damage as heavies (depending on how well the splash hits people) and he has decent range (sticky snipes and amazing mid range), traps, decent movement speed, sticky jumps, effectively 2 primaries (GL and SBL), and high burst damage making it difficult to avoid being killed by stickies or grenades. Also, splash damage hits everyone hard.

    Don't get me wrong, it is easy to mass as pyro and heavy, but far easier as demoman.

     

    THAT SAID, I would +1 full demoman unlocking on blue as they take the same risk as soldiers in terms of freekill. Just restrict things like traps on vital map areas (eg trapping the entrance to medic). So while demoman may not have the surgical precision of a sniper rifle, he can help greatly with mass rebellion and reduce the effectiveness of medic crusades (Lord knows those are fun for blue). Besides, JB usually has at least one staff member online if it is populated, and we have a call admin if people mass freekill without staff online.

     

    If we are only unbanning melee unlocks and shields on demoman, then I will -1 it because the same thing from actual gameplay servers applies here, the demoknight is dead weight on their team since other classes do their job better. However, this outclassing is actually worse here because of the high (random) crit rate of melees in general and the fact that red is forced into using melee shouldn't be that far of a jump to the demoknight in question being horrifically murdered. Additionally the demoknight has to get into melee range (baiting) to actually hit stuff...

     

    Just my 2 cents on the matter.

    I put traps in DR and made it more difficult than the original,

    and I finally figured out how fallgame works. That is one annoying setup, it just needs a stop button now.

     

    Anywho, back to building the world.

So a while back I made a post showing a little bit of what I have done back on the "Remove Casuarina until bug is fixed" thread, and I figured that instead of having that to revive, I am making a dedicated thread so that you wonderful people can look in on what progress has been made. Eventually I might post links to actually download what I have finished, though not at the moment, because I am still working on the map assets.

    I WILL POST UPDATES ON MAP PROGRESS HERE.

    I suppose you now want to see where I stand in terms of map progress...

    actually, I am pretty close to making this one work, it just has some issues with the death lava and individual squares. Also turning red before it breaks...

    The #Triggered boxes return! and the errors are spawn points(for blue)(Don't worry, spawns work. Just they don't have any model). And yes, the vent CAN be broken...

    Anyways, this is the blue spawn. Complete with excessive ammoboxes and no respawn lockers!

    Things that I don't plan to add back atm:

    1: The Cart) it only caused problems and made life difficult, instead have a nice surfing ramp!

    2: Lots of empty space) LCT has to at least be possible. Right?

    3: Russian roulette (maybe), Shock, Drop, and Roll, and Hide and go Boom.) None of them work right or they are not clear as to what to do...

    4: that side of the map way off that had disco and gun shop, the respective map assets will be moved somewhere else...

     

    EDIT: added a to do list and what I am not adding back (for now [popular request will change that though])


  5. ... If it REALLY becomes an issue, the map can always be ported via Hammer and the message can be removed. It isn't that big of a deal...

    Actually, you would need the map source files to do that since decompiling maps tends to get messy without them (eg. the entire map breaks itself) as well as the decompile process being incredibly complex. If it was that easy, fixing Casurina would be easy as well.

     

    Also, this...

    EDIT: Checked over the TOS in regards to map usage, and yes, we cannot edit the map's files and host it as our own. So that's off the table.

     

    That all said, it would be easier to have a mapmaker remake the map from scratch...

  6. Ok, my position on it, I was called by Lone Major because there was a mass freekill. I came into the server and asked what was up, Evidently CumDumpsterLeo and Another individual had both mass freekilled. Orders had been given (eg. go to yellow line.) and then a hide and seek had been activated. Normally that would result in a freeday, however the blue team was not listening to the chat telling them of the freeday. Later I was contacted by CumDumpster who maturely and calmly informed me that he was unaware that it was a freeday, saying he was not watching the chat log.

    Multiple eyewitnesses could confirm that these two individuals has massed, however. So, I have CT banned the two of them for (99999 min.) because of mass freekill.

    However, due to the accidental nature (as CDLeo says) of the mass, I would say perhaps shortening the CT ban for him to a week.
