Quoting myself from a previous thread (source) because this is somewhat relevant to the whole "make a new board" concept. Also, I'm not sure how anyone could possibly be "off-topic" when posting in the General section of forums. As Silence so eloquently put it: As for the whole anonymous board, it's pretty well exactly as Silence put it back in the day; a 'Bad Idea'. The concept was that it would allow Players to speak out against abusive Staff without fear of being judged or scorned. That being said, it just turned into a place where people would fling insults, flame each other, and just spawn racist or offensive shit-storms that no gaming community would want to be associated with. I don't think it would be the best idea unless rules were to be put in place that rule against any derogatory, offensive or graphic content; however, even then I would still be hesitant because we're a Gaming community, not a discussion forum for Politics/Religion/etc. If anything, see if you can convince @Rhododendron to create a separate blog or something for that kind of content. The Xeno Gamers' forums should remain focused around gaming and other creative interests in my opinion :coffee:

I'd be down to participate or help lead but I can probably just give you or help with our current official steel team instead of making a new one. I'm just wondering if this will be a for fun team or actually trying to be skilled, because our other attempts at trying have just led to toxicity, fractured friend groups and 2 win seasons, while our for fun seasons led to 2 wins and actual fun and laughter in teamspeak. I don't want to be rude, but I have some concerns, xG has tried quite a few highlander teams, and only two have finished one or more seasons. It takes alot of hard work to organize practices and scrims among 9 different players, and unless you're absolutely committed the team probably won't last four games. This seems like it was a spur of the moment decision to make a team, and those don't usually pan out. My advice if you want to succeed would be to glean as much information as you can from other leaders, keep them added after you've played them so you can organize scrims and ask them what groups they use to find scrims. And don't just talk to the players on match days, keep that dialogue open so you're not surprised by an absence. Good luck.

Uhhh, have you spoken to any higher ups about this? I'm sure there's no problem, but i wouldn't call it an "official" team without the approval of higher ups.

I'm neutral since I've only seen you a couple times, but we've had a rule/very strong suggestion in the past that staff have mics. I'm of the opinion that it's super useful to be able to communicate quickly without typing, but I'm not sure it's still a requirement. Either way, good luck!

There should be a sub forum as a reference Locked but visible to all, any locked member application declined/accepted would be moved there.

I agree with having a forum section where we can just talk about anything unrelated to gaming. Although we do already have a lot of sections covering different aspects such as artwork and music and these sections get little to no attention so an off topic section could also be a ghost town.

Honestly something like that can be posted in General every once in a while, but we can always discuss if we think we need an off topic section

Can confirm, the rude awakening is that community server scrubs like us, no matter how skilled, have the gamesense and synergy of a carrot. We got rekt by twelve year olds who pub all night, even if our 3rd or 4th best player was better than their best

No offense but I would recommend Iron for now since we used to have an xG highlander team that weren't good enough to play in Steel but had some decent players on the team. Iron is a good starting point so I would start there and rank up if you do well.

Maybe add an option to notify users when we change their ranks on forums? And then simply close the thread with no message?
