  1. as vexx said it would be incredibly hard to keep track of players with offensive renamed items. But of course if someone has pointed it out or you have seen it yourself it should be fine to ask them to change the weapon, same as you would ask someone to change an offensive objector. I support this as I hate to see any form of offensive slur which could upset somebody. so I will +1 to have the no slurs rule extended to item renames.

  2. while it seems like a good idea at first, like blanku said it will be abused and players will just wait for their quests to reset and get their credits instantly with friends which will take away all the fun of the original concept and make it a pointless way to get free fast credits.

  3. [TF2] Ghost Mode Redux (v2.2 - 1/6/14) - AlliedModders

ill add this later and see if its any better

    it has these features:

    • Ghost model
    • Config menu
    • Invisible to alive players

this looks good especially being invisible to living players, I'll try it out later and get some opinions from others on how it holds up in terms of lag and playability.

I would like to see the "sm_ghostmode_flying" cvar enabled so it gives people the opportunity to observe the remaining players from various angles rather than just being stuck on the ground which is boring especially if you fall into water/lava and are trapped there.

  4. lol I just made a thread about the same time as you Spoopy, that is creepy.

and +1 for removal, I will copy/paste my reasons from my thread.

    1. It lags. People are complaining about lag when other players ghosts are moving into their body and just lag in general which nobody had prior to this plugin being installed.

    2. The weapons a player is holding does not become transparent upon death so its a huge distraction for the remaining players with all the flying weapons everywhere and its not very enjoyable.
    3. It's very buggy. With the ability to teleport around with it, it can cause visual bugs among other things.
    4. Open to abuse. Players can distract and cause disruptions for players still alive by standing in the way of traps, etc.
    5. Unfun. Its far more fun to be able to spectate the remaining players via the original mode rather than having to teleport around the map to find the remaining players and even then you can't follow them through doors, etc so its really not very fun to watch players completing the map once you have died. Not to mention I'm sure the player/s still alive would rather not be disrupted by 10-15 ghosts and a mass of flying weapons all around them.

  5. Hey guys, I noticed a new plugin was added on Deathrun today. The ghost plugin allows players to still be able to move around in the map once they have died. This plugin however is causing a lot of problems for everybody which I will list below.

I believe the server does not need this plugin and the experience is far more enjoyable without it, so please vote for the removal of the plugin above and feel free to add your opinions on it.

  6. Division:

    Team Fortress 2

    In-Game Name:

    ♥ aღy ♥

    Identity:

    STEAM_0:1:29168923

    Position:

    Moderator

    Time Active:

hundreds of hours since my first time in this clan

    Age:

    16 in 2 weeks

    Experience:

previous xG mod, previous raffle mod and middleman, previous server owner.

    Donated:

    No

    Information:

hi guys I decided to apply for a staff position seeing as my activity is way beyond what is expected and I believe my experience in handling issues can only benefit the clan.

I was going to wait 2 weeks before making this application due to the age requirement but seeing as Thunderlimes didn't need to as he was a previous moderator I figured it should be fine to post mine too.

    What experience do I have?

    • I was previously a moderator in this clan 2 years ago.

    • I have been trusted with raffling and holding unusuals for gambles and contests.

    • I have organised and held tournaments with over 20 people on a server.

    • After leaving xG the first time I ran my own TF2 server for a year so I have experience with being more than just a moderator.

What can I bring to the clan?

I am a very friendly and mature person that tries her hardest to maintain a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere on the server I am playing, but this proves difficult without the powers moderation provides. I keep a strict but fair protocol when dealing with rule breakers and keeping to hand a list of previous trouble makers which I can easily use for follow up punishment if they have failed to comply the first time.

I have vast experience with moderation and administrating servers being a previous moderator in various communities including xG as well as running my own contests and giveaways server in which I hosted boxing tournaments and other events for prizes.

I know what it takes to be staff and am very suitable for the position and up for the task especially seeing as a lot of the time I am the only xG member on deathrun and with deathrun being like it is, it does tend to get rowdy children and people breaking rules and it is such a pain to have to calladmin all the time when it would be so much easier for myself and the staff for me to be able to deal with these issues myself.

    Thanks. :)

  7. I agree. It is not always clear staff are present since we introduced the custom titles to replace the traditional tags. For example if a staff member is using mic there is no indication right away he is a staff member unless he types in chat. There should be no punishment for users using the calladmin for its intended purpose when all they are doing is trying to improve the server experience for everyone.

However I agree there should be a rule in place for abuse of the command. If it is clear somebody has used the command for a "joke" or a "troll" then this should be punished accordingly.

  8. hey guys this is just a quick note for staff to know if you are moderating deathrun.

The map dr_dungeon_beta is a fantastic map, no doubt about that and I don't want to see it removed and neither does anyone else. But there is a map exploit which allows players to bypass 2 traps without giving the death a chance to kill them. I don't believe this is intended from the map designer and therefore players should not be doing this.

The exploit occurs in the area outside after the lift down. To do the exploit players much crouch jump onto the wall and if done correctly they will be on an invisible ledge which allows the players to run through the entire outside zone of the map without risk of traps. This is undoubtedly unfair to the death and the players playing fairly that players are able to do this bypass.

Now I'm not going to support the map being removed as its such a great map and everyone enjoys it, however I am putting out this message for our staff to take note of and to be wary during this part of the map for any players attempting the exploit and to punish them accordingly.

we shouldn't let one or two bad apples spoil the bunch.

here is a screenshot showing the area and the exploit.

  9. sounds good, I do love community events and minigames for prizes. I have hosted lots of different types of events too ranging from fashion contests to soldier/demo katana duels.

and yes only ever do these events when there are staff present and they have given their authority to middleman and/or judge the event.

am I allowed to host this event when no admins or dm/dl are there as I proposed this idea ?

I would say no, mainly because if someone does not play fairly or does not give prizes it can only lead to drama and shouts of scamming on the server which not only makes the server look bad but if there are new people playing it could put them off returning if they see xG as a place full of scammers. I highly recommend these events and gambles take place only under staff supervision at all times.

  10. What I used to do is keep a file on all users I issue warnings/kicks to so I can follow up on the correct punishment if needed as well as have something to hand I can pass onto other staff so they can see past incidents and handle them accordingly It also helps in any ban appeals to have a record of rules broken with time and date stamps.

It's more work but since there is only a record of bans listed on xenogamers, having a personal file containing warnings/kicks is always a plus.

and yes a lot of people for various reasons do not have sound enabled so a warning in the chat is mandatory at all times followed by a verbal warning and that should be the correct protocol for dealing with all situations.

Heard Kirby is really broken but since I've not played I can't attest to that.

  12. Wait wut ._.

Also, I have a forum suggestion.

We REALLY need an "off-topic" forum in the creative section, because, say, someone wants to ask "who likes to cook?" and share some of their favorite recipe websites, and others can then share their recipes as well.

Forums like this help to build community & friendships, and beyond just video games*

Yeah, I know about the forums in creative section, and that's great! But what about all the other arts and hobbies in the world? It'd be weird to post something off-topic on one of the creative section forums, and also weird to post in the general forum as well.

I agree with having a forum section where we can just talk about anything unrelated to gaming. Although we do already have a lot of sections covering different aspects such as artwork and music and these sections get little to no attention so an off topic section could also be a ghost town.

  13. Don't worry guys, @MineCrack and I will be returning to be division leaders of minecraft. We have been in talks with the higher ups and have agreed that this is necessary to the health of xG as a whole. The server will be completely revamped, introducing a spawn built by @gryfons and @lilbleed. Hopefully you guys enjoy it :)

good work :) thanks for the update.

  14. if the current staff are having trouble with finding the time to maintain the server, it would probably be wise to appoint new staff to help out.

wyverness has had experience as staff on a minecraft server and so have I several years ago when an old friend owned a server and had me adding and configuring plugins server side.

The main population of the Minecraft server atm is primarily myself, vector, wyverness, bonfire, kypari and a few others and we have been playing regularly and we all agree new staff are needed to keep the server in an acceptable condition for ourselves and newcomers.
