Hey guys! I know this thread is old, but I just wanted to come back here to apologize. I was 12 when I made this Protest, and I didn't know the rules, and I was a real brat. I'm not trying to get unbanned or anything, I just wanted to come back here and apologize to all of you who had to put up with my immature self. I'm 18 now, and I still play Source every now and again. I was looking through my old emails when I saw that I was still getting notifications from the "Want to Get Unbanned?" thread, and I decided to come back here and extend a sincere apology. I look back at all my comments and cringe at how annoying I was and I feel sorry that you guys had to put up with that. 

drag and drop the image from your file explorer. also when i tried to download it, it said that the file type couldn't be opened because its a .b6514a6b8f558213b44bf4a78d1131d5 which when I lasted checked, I don't remember that being a file type so you might want to fix that.

Anyways, im just going to do one of the unban challenges 🙂

evading punishment could be leaving the server before and admin issues punishment. it could also be that you hacked on your alt account (which in your previous ban protest thread, you stated you used an alt), then came back on your main account which is considered evading punishment.

if you do one of the unban challenges my comment won't matter, but in the case that you don't:
-1 we are (usually and supposed to be) super against cheaters/hackers in this community. hacking is one thing, but to evade punishment as well is a yikes from me.
Also hacking is not a joke. its not funny. it never is funny.

hm, well it is considered a benefit to be a member of something. As "friend of xg" makes it sound like I don't really care about the server and stuff, however, I do.

sv_cheats 1 allows players who haven't donated for perks such as noclip to use it. If we enabled sv_cheats 1, we would not have a way to white-list which players can use what commands (this leads to people just coming on to troll with it.)
Noclip isn't the only command that literally ruins the experience, but it blatantly shows that it would be completely stupid if we enabled it on the servers.
EDIT: literally just me explaining what it does for you. tl;dr kids are just gonna use the commands and troll with them.

fyi we dont pay for teamspeak either, it's on the same server box the game servers are hosted in afaik @Rhododendron can confirm
 
either way, if you want to use discord with or without people in xG, thats your businness
 
but we are not interested nor do we find the need to get an official xG server, the co-leaders can hopefully answer that (once again)

So far, the only argument against Discord that I've heard is security.
 
You don't understand where that information is going, and that's scary, I get that. But do you know how much information Discord handles?
Literally billions of messages have been sent. It'd be ridiculous to think we, a small gaming community, would be spied on actively.
 
What are the pros? Well, for one, accessibility. No one uses Teamspeak anymore. How many of you use it just to get on XG's server and nothing else? It's a pretty big barrier to entry.
 
Discord has a browser version, and is easy as hell to install. It's not computer intensive, and it's about accessible as it gets.
 
Also, hey, you don't need to pay server costs anymore. That's pretty good. Or you could keep both up-- that's up to you guys.
 
I've also heard an off-handed comment before that it's 'not good for big communities like XG', but there was no elaboration.
 
Either way, as a manager of a Discord community already, I'd like to hear your questions and concerns about it, so I can answer them.

sometimes on surf i get auto balanced to the other team, even when the teams were even e.g. 6v6 then i get balanced to make it 7v5. I can still switch back but its just really rare and weird. Might be my game though because i am glitchy but it does happen, anyone else get this problem?

Is this possible? I ask because "!tp" seems to just be a way to access the "thirdperson" camera without having to use "sv_cheats 1" commands.
 
For anyone who doesn't know, "mayamode" locks your camera at a certain angle in third-person mode. As an example, in "thirdperson_mayamode" if you do a 180, the camera won't follow your in-game model's back anymore, and your in-game model will be facing the camera.
 
I'm pretty sure neither I nor anybody else is exactly dying to have this command or anything, but it just seems like a quality-of-life command that would be nice to have. It could also help with getting good screenshots for "Screenshot of the Month".
