My opinion hasn't changed much at all so i'm still pretty neutral on any changes here. If you're good with it and @mrnutty12 hasn't come up with a negative call, i'd be fine with unbanning him.

After rethinking the whole situation, I think I agree with this the most. However, what bothers me a bit is the fact that Sylux was never kicked. Additionally, we don't really HAVE TO make it a week. We can also make it like 5 or 6 days if you guys think thats more suitable.

Furthermore, I'm not sure if punishing Zac now really helps anyone, as this all happened like 5 days ago. Would it really be efficent to ban him for something he did 5 days (or even a week when we have a final decision) ago?

What bugs me more than missing a kick (though that still should have been done) is that Sylux never got more than a 30 min mute in recent times. Skipping longer mute/gag times when dishing one out would have stopped what he was doing just fine raises my ire. Anyhow, I like @virr's idea of changing it to one week total served.

As for zack, just give the guy a firm warning at this point.

I maintain my position on reducing it to a week, but if you really want to unban Sylux right now, that's fine too.

As for the Zack thread, I think a day ban at most should be fine for now.

That's fair to say as an opinion. However, I think the main issue is that there is still no decay rule. We need to be told if there is going to be a decay rule or not and how long that decay is, because most of this ban protest is based off the fact that his last ban was a while ago.

 

Please can we just make this a rule or say that it won't be a rule so this doesn't happen in the future, like I said it would after the Brian thread. It's really stressful to be arguing over something so opinion-based and none of us agreeing on how long this made-up decay is

We did discuss this issue after the Brian thread actually (just not publicly), though IIRC the consensus was that we should have the punishment match the offense as opposed to some arbitrary number of months that the bans stop counting after.

That said, with regards to reducing Sylux's ban, it has been nearly a year since he was last banned and it was for abuse of calladmin/disrespect not trolling and harassment like the current one. However I cannot just ignore his history of inflammatory and disrespectful behavior. So, my proposal is that we reduce his current ban to a week and replace the month punishment with a silence.

With note to @Sylux, stop being such a rude boi to people, it gets you nowhere good quick. Also, other people being part of a problem does NOT make it ok to continue causing it.

As for Zack, I would appreciate a proper ban request thread where we can have all of that information in one place to be its own focus of discussion.

Aside from getting his own ban request thread, I have heard that there is some amount of favoritism towards Zack who by most accounts is given much leniency and was only given a day mute. That would be fine if Sylux had gotten a day mute recently prior to this incident, but he didn't. As it turns out Sylux hasn't had a day mute in over 2 years! (from presumably Rejects since SB says the admin was deleted) It seems to me like somebody forgot to mute Sylux for a day or more before jumping to bans. We are given the ability to mute people for more than 30 min for a reason, don't ignore that when it is convenient towards the end of banning people you don't like.

I did not say that he had my endorsement to go ahead and ignore the rules.

The short version is I simply told him that probably nobody would care as long as he didn't help competing servers (not being staff on them was implied) and didn't make it into an issue (eg. technically a member of a community but not really active there in any meaningful way).

Consequently I am going to -1 this since you admit to not respecting staff decisions and arguing over it, plus it is only one hour.

@Bello @Vexx It has been over a week and the consensus seems to be that the maps need removing.

@Caleb956 It is the current year (2017) so a ban from 2013 would be 4 years ago.

Also I think it has been long enough, and since nobody here seems to even remember the incident I will +1 for unban.

I had a look for this guy's steam ID, this is all that I found. The only ban that came up was for a mass freekill in 2013.

Hey, it is your local neighborhood Nutty here with some pretty bad maps that need that I think need removing from rotation. Feel free to disagree and explain why you think any of these maps are actually good, but I usually see complaining about these maps in particular so it might help to get them off rotation. (listed in order from very bad to less very bad)

First and foremost, surf_spaze_tf2 (couldn't find link) Has a small boring jail where 90% of the action takes place unless someone decides to shoot into one of the spawns, then the map devolves into who can spawncamp harder which makes it a nightmare to moderate and play on. It is also is extremely short and getting to any of the possible places to go will, at most, send you right in between both of the open roofed spawns (or the jail) for easy access spawncamps. Overall small map with little to do that is prone to spawncamping.

Second is my personal least favorite, surf_cityscape Overall just not that fun too play on. The layout would be interesting if it was reasonable to get speed on the map, but it is a bit large for how slow most people end up moving.

And finally, surf_10x_reload Has a small and boring jail with a broken door (very loud when it gets opened) as well as a lack of proper areas to fight people in general.
