I'm sure the server(s) are great, but I'm talking about forums. What is so great about our forum is that i can somewhat keep myself updated with what's going on the other divisions even though i don't really play on the servers that often. Yes, but there's also things you can do yourself to get more involved with the rest of the clan. For example, why is the staff roster so horribly out of date? Why do you discuss everything in a steam group instead of forums? There's a lot of work that can be done here from both sides that would benefit us greatly as a community. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of us have either school or work to attend. If there's is way too much work for a single person to do, why not promote some more staff or get some help from people in other divisions? We're a community after all, if one of us needs some help, that help should be available to get. Definitely. My intention with this post isn't to be rude, but the way gmod and nuclear dawn is run is so drastically different from the rest of xG, i feel like it kind of hinders us from growing. A lot of people, especially the newer members have no idea that gmod or nd even is a division. I feel like having more forum presence would remedy the situation somewhat, and not only grow the your divisions and in turn make xG bigger, but grow the entire clan as a whole.

So during December, I made a picture for the Steam Awards incase TF2 won test of time. However, now that we knew that Skyrim won, I still want to show the picture. Any feedback?

You know I miss the GMOD division. Its how I joined this clan. @Charrax 's TTT server was fun, its where I made my friends and it convinced me to join the community. Back then the GMOD division felt like it was part of the community. Nowadays it feels segregated from the community and where I see the fault is in the division leader @Vertex . Its a pattern we have seen over and over with the way he runs his divisions. He makes no interaction with the community, no communication, promotes whoever he wants even if they are not a member of the community. I really don't know how this has been put up with for so long. We should not have a division that feels like its a severed arm. Thats not the fault of the community, that is a fault of you. As a DL you are supposed to be leading this division as part of the community but I've seen to many things where you have separated your division from the rest. I feel you need to start treating this division as part of the community because I truly miss the days where we had a truly good GMOD div.

100% agree, gmod and nuclear dawn could just as well be a completely separate entity at this point. Forum activity from said divisions is literally 0 and we have no idea who is staff on the servers since its never mentioned in promo/demo. I'm not saying everything needs to be here, but some forum activity from all of our divisions would benefit all of us and do nothing but help us grow.

People are feeling a bit of a disconnect with Morbus. That's why TTT to on the to-do-list to help bring people back together again. A key difference between old and new gmod was having different server types, that a lot of the key clan-base found more enjoyable. It's important to note, that we need to start somewhere and Morbus was that starting place. A lot of server content and scripting resources have been created, that are in the process of being moved over to TTT. There's tons of things that have happened from an infrastructure stand-point to make expanding the Garry's Mod division more successful. Anywhere from a global donation system to scoreboards and loading screens. It's bias to say that I promote however, but that is not the case. When there's a single-served division (which is why that needs to change) the division is small. Everyone knows each other and we often all join the team-speak channel and discuss who would be good for a moderator position. It's easy to just pass or pin the blame on one person, without looking at the bigger picture. Division managers have done a good job with communication, but as you know first hand most aren't permanent. I'm the server guy, who responds where i'm asked a question and works on the back-end to improve things much like rhodo does with the website. I've tried to do both, but balancing them has never worked. If there's one thing you could take from this response, it's that i'm trying and always listening to feedback.

If that doesn't work then it's best to contact the Community leaders and make a thread on the forums concerning it. You can contact @Aegean @Nomulous @Bleed. However i guess we can just use this thread. Virr and I aren't critizing the Gmod divison. We are just saying that we want to try and get our populated divisions to play on gmod servers. I don't see how this could be interpereted in any other way. Why wouldn't we care about a division regardless of whether or not we play in it? We are all xG members and we want to help out in anyway we can and it's been on the other divisions for not taking interest but at the same time if you guys can make your concerns known on the forums and give evidence of problems then i don't see how other xG members can not give input.

I think there's an event somewhere that can be hooked when the entity is triggered. I'll likely get around patching this exploit eventually, when times permits.

Things are progressing nicely on Garry's Mod. TTT should come up *eventually* and improve forum activity. And Morbus has a very nice donator system now with server content. There's definitely a lot the clan can do to become more involved with this division and learn quite a few things about improving moderation and population while doing it. I have little time to deal with everything myself with a new semester starting in a few days. But I will say this, it seems a bit hypocritical to criticize something you've never really played on and don't know the circumstances to. Forum activity was definitely better with division managers around, but at the same time they need to be able and willing to hold the position; without comprising the server's player-base. There's always room for improvement, but sometimes difficult decisions need to be made, to ensure things keep moving forward in the right direction.

Gringo was demoted because of his inability to follow server rules. And unwillingness to improve his ways when it came to moderation. The forum tag was never removed. Maker slayed you for spamming the lights and it instantly stopped. Given how you were slayed five times a couple days ago for doing the same thing, the next required step was a three hour server ban. I was informed this protest was being made for the troll of it. And the three day server ban today for ghosting the names of brood aliens in all chat and mass rdm won't be getting removed early. You'll have to sit it out. I will not be as lenient, if you come back and do it again, after the ban has expired. Extra steps are being taken to make ban evasion virtually impossible. You may not agree with how things are run, but that doesn't give you the right to come on the server and ruin the game for everyone. Friend or not if someone is breaking server rules, they'll be moderated fairly and equally. You've been given every possible chance to stop it. It's not recommended heading down this direction.

IMO gifting credits in game is just silly, it should be done through forums as it is a way more secure form of moving your credits around (crashes, database errors, etc. are more common on the server side due to potential hazards on maps or plugin conflicts.) and also can be a form of getting more players to come to the website and register their account and link steam.

update #2: haven't said much about this place since I stepped down. With the return of supermad I think the server is in good hands. As I originally said, the server will still be towny/mcmmo. mince and myself will still oversee everything and make sure the server ends up well, but with supermad, aegean, klure, and pepper working on everything I believe it'll end up much better than it could've with someone who lacks motivation for this dumb block game such as myself sorry for all the delays guys.

Well figure I can finally talk about this division, having spent upwards of <900 hours on a towny server, Like Narwhal said, would definitely recommend mcmmo, even though at MUCH higher levels in it it can kind of ruin the economy.. (getting diamonds and stuff from excavation, etc,) And by sign economy you mean a server shop, I could probably help set that up if its decided to get one implemented. Also for those saying get factions over towny, in a SENSE its kind of the same thing, but not really. Essentially you can take over any town you'd like depending on how many people you have in your town, so the more people the better. I'm also not sure how I feel about having pvp enabled everywhere outside of towns but we will see. Uhhh idk what else to say, feel free to ask questions though I guess. Just as a few sidenotes, I haven't read really any of this thread aside from a few small parts yet so idk what plugins are going on the server, but if you need any help finding plugins or whatnot I would be happy to help! OH ALSO, idk if you guys know already, but there are some plugins out there that allow you to add more than one world to the server, so you could have the towny/faction map and then have the skyfactory or whatever which doesn't take a whole lot to set up.

The steam group is integrated with the steam client people play on the server with. It's a powerful tool for shipping notifications to clients and populating the server. Otherwise, it's mainly used for quick questions or posting links to player models people want on the server. Longer posts like feedback threads, the forums work better for. There's pros and cons to both. You can't just invite someone to be instantly signed up on the forums, like what can be done with a steam group during prep-rounds. Something like updating a staff roaster is a task an assistant like a division manager should be performing. My time is limited and valuable due to programming skills. So improving the server experience is always going to be set at a higher priority than updating the staff roaster. There's no dm currently, if there was it would be done already. Currently there's nobody willing from other divisions that's active on Garry's Mod. That's why launching TTT will change things, by sparking more interest. I'm always looking for more staff. There are multiple moderators currently, but that's the only task they wish to perform. Garry's Mod is a huge positive having the game-server and the moderators. The only thing missing is the human resource element appointing a division manger could fix this, but there has to be someone willing to perform the task and stay in-touch with the community. A couple have expressed they're only willing to do this for TTT when it's launched. Multiple servers will be the key factor in the future, to create the type of clan involvement TF2 has, while maintaining all the positives of running things differently.
