  1. This effect does prevent much to be done with jarate (doesn't exist on mad milk, that works like normal) but could probably be removed if that was desired since it doesn't seem that useful and not many people use it in the first place. Weapons igniting targets on hit is something I've hoped to add for a few different ideas as it seems like a very fun concept to play with, but regrettably doesn't function properly since the jungle inferno update due to the changes to afterburn.
  2. Pretty much this, but keep in mind we don't have any kind of monopoly on plugins (beyond any made by someone for our servers, such as the jailbreak plugin) and they are all openly available, so denying or hiding them from anyone would be a bit childish. @OrangeBandito get in touch with me on discord (elcark#7346) and I'll see about showing you ones that are on the server. nvm just saw what lithium posted
  3. Best of luck. There's not really anyway to tell now that you don't have it but your chances are pretty much dependent on whatever was "burning". If it was just your PSU overloading and shorting out that's a pretty easy fix (and likely depending on what kind you had) but if it managed to fry your motherboard you can kiss that computer good bye.
  4. His entire post was seemingly meant to point out how you are taking things far too personally and had very little regard towards himself so that's a fairly odd conclusion to come to. It seems rather hypocritical for you to be offended by his interpretation of what your statement insinuated then make pretty baseless assumptions towards him. That actually goes a lot into how a lot of this is being taken by you since your mod application, you really don't seem to take criticism well in the least bit. No one is trying to attack you baselessly, but instead are pointing out issues they believe need to be worked on. This community is actually incredibly forgiving in letting people have second chances, but it is ultimately on you to actually be mindful of how your behavior is being taken by everyone else and try to improve yourself from there.

    Restore old forums

Just add dark theme. Problem solved. Actually what all is still missing besides hub at this point? If we even got a partially functional copy of the old version moved over it would be nice compared to lacking it entirely now but im not even sure if there is anything besides that still needing to be made. In terms of appearance though the new forums are deffinitly much easier on the eyes to navigate than the previous version. The old forums appearing like a hardly tangible cluttered mess kept me from trying to understand them at all for awhile but this more modern appearance so to speak is much more user friendly to new comers.
  8. May as well leave it open regardless to see it through. I'd really rather not have another vote in a few weeks if this one just evaporates. It's just as easy to hide any posts like that and not ruin this for everyone else.
  9. This. Honestly I do hope you reconsider this entirely as there is no reason to go even if you just aren't around much at all anymore and you are always welcome here. Either way people will always look at you for all of you good you did and effort you put in and you absolutely shouldn't sell yourself short there. Take care and best wishes in your endeavors

  13. Tuna will not receive staff at this time. Before everyone loses their poop, that last part is important. You are not being denied the entire opportunity to become staff, but aren't receiving it here and now. We figured it best to give a definitive answer after all this time instead of leaving this open and making it assumed it is being ignored. Beyond giving that answer, this does not change much since even without an open application it is still very clear you desire staff and have every opportunity to continue to work towards it. As a personal note, as part of turning over a new leaf then perhaps we can start fresher on this here as well. -Closed
  14. Now i'm terrible at math too and not going to pretend I actually follow where this concept is going, but wouldn't what you had said only make sense if you're getting struck by every single enemy team mate by melee at the exact same time?
  15. I've been over this half assed concept more times then i'd like to have. The exact same counter argument exists for people voting on both ways and has been practiced as such numerous times. Everyone here in the community has an equal say for these kinds of things with the way the community exists with no arbitrary barrier to determine whether someone should be allowed or not. People can look at the reasoning to both sides and come to their own conclusion for what should be done based on what arguments people make without needing personal first hand experience. The way I view it is the servers are not meant to be taken to such a serious extreme as some people want to. That's exactly why things like rtd exists and random crits still exist on melee weapons. Keeping random crits on just melee avoids them from being over abundant but doesn't disengage significantly from the more carefree attitude of the servers. Steering more towards an attitude focused on combat is the entire reason for the objective server being made in the first place, to have these kinds of changes there instead of gearing the other servers towards a specific playstyle (while still not being "competitive" in the sense of competitive servers, but just more so than the trade servers).
  16. That's contrary to the point, being which the level of complaint isn't a perfect reflection of the backing to it when measured by volume. When you have a room of ten people and one is shouting over the rest, it's not exactly a perfect solution to due what the one wants just to shut them up.
  17. Personally being the keyword. Not everyone's definition of fun is the same and some people will be frustrated to tears by things others have no concern over. Melee, regardless of how certain situations can sneak up on you, is something that has a very obvious disadvantage in a game that has any form of ranged answer to it. One of the arguing points made to keep random crits on melee weapons was that melee would effectively become useless without them, which they become even less noteworthy when you take into account that it's not something that happens on a large percentage of melee swings in the first place. Randoms crits are something that due to being in the game for so long people have become accustomed to, and though cries against it happen people are always going to be louder about what they have disdain for then that which they like. Re-enabling all random crits then.

  20. Despite being late there are a few things I'd like to chime in both to elaborate on and explain a bit. First of all people have been throwing around "staff discretion" a lot as if it's some accursed form of staff using personal bias to enforce their own ideals separate from that of the community, which is not what the purpose is at all. To put it into better perspective, i'll borrow from what @Tatost said. "In the community's view" is exactly what this is, or at least what it strives to be. A staff members goal is always focused on making the servers as enjoyable for everyone on it as possible which isn't always cut and dry. Not all rules can plausibly be direct in every situation (spawnkilling is very much direct, while something like trolling or even this case of immature voices covers too wide a variety of possibilities to be summed up to cover every situation) and require a judgement call to best find a solution to the issue. These judgement calls are in essence where staff discretion comes into play and one of the most important, and difficult, parts of being a staff member. They need to decide based on the situation and context where and how to draw the line for these situations to their discretion as to how it will best benefit the server. Now since this is a solution coming from the mind of a single human they will not be able to not always have a perfect answer that fits in line with what a mass of people desire (especially when often times what that is ends up being several conflicting opinions) and there is always margin for error (people learn over time), but it's being able to come to a solution as close to what satisfies everyone as possible or at least try to that ends up being a notable amount of the trust put in staff to have this authority. Recently is far from the case. The children aspect hasn't been enforced since before I even knew these servers existed myself and was changed around then if not before. The issue with this is between the atrocious inconsistency between motd's and server rules as they have been made and the absolute paltry "communication" of any note worthy changes of these for quite some time. Like @virr mentioned working on fixing these issues has been on going for awhile and still is (server motd's were recently all reorganized to varying extent) and you pointing out the general update thread is one place for overall communication to be done better, but this also has been addressed between a lot of more direct communication to staff through the xG discord and is the entire purpose of this thread. Not every discrepancy is going to be known right away though such as in this case here where it is revolving around a very old change to a rule that does not come into relevance very often. When these issues are brought to light though, they are often very easily addressed thanks to these new"er" ways of doing so. Now like how the immature voices rule does still exist for a reason as pointed out by @LAN_Megalodon, the rule about not arguing staff decisions does as well. Frankly, the server is not the place to have such arguments especially when they delve into clear conflictions between people which often can happen when someone attempts to argue solely because they are upset about being punished for breaking a rule, but regardless of any legitimacy to either sides claims in these situations, the bottom line is they are not best handled over the server. There is no need for unnecessary drama to have to ruin everyone else's time. Instead, these is far better handled through pm's or by coming to higher ups especially if it's believed that a staff member is incorrect in their decision or as said using it as a way to shut down people when the staff member is themselves wrong as that's an issue that exists on a basis direct to that individual at that point and can only be solved in such a manor. Now @YeEternalTuna pointed out feeling as if that can't be done due to believing one such higher up was allowing the situation in the first place, but you need to remember "higher ups" aren't some single entity. There are others that can be reached out to always and what one seems to be acting on is not by any means what the rest will. Staff as a whole are there to help everyone which shouldn't be dismissed so easily when seemingly having conflict with a few, and the more direct people are about these under lying issues that exists the better they can be handled before they bloat and heads end up colliding over the ordeal.
  21. Aquatucruin was my favorite for a short while, but now it is so overplayed it becomes mind numbingly dull within only a few minutes. The two maps that I've probably has the most consistent enjoyment with have been facing worlds and cyberpunk 2_a
  22. To elaborate on this it isn't specific to abuse, but anything that would create concern revolving around a staff members usage of powers. Regardless, it isn't something that should be relevant to tuna. Also here are my own thoughts for trying to play on more servers. Of course it should not be viewed as a requirement by any measure, but the benefits of it shouldn't be dismissed either. It's very similar to how teamspeak used to be treated for staff and there's two main aspects to it. First of all it simply looks favorably for you and speaks directly for your dedication and willingness to help out. Perhaps more directly than that is the publicity it gives you. It makes you more likely to be noticed as you're going around trying to show everyone what makes you qualified for staff and stand out as such. @Tatost and I talked earlier about higher ups watching people for this reason (which has always been done even for people who don't know they're being considered for staff) but it's even more important for you to go out and try to be noticed in the first place when applying. The more effort you personally put in the stronger you build your chances. In simpler terms, playing on other servers is not a requirement for getting staff, but it should be obvious that it is highly encouraged.
  23. We don't make bosses, other people do and put them up openly to the public which are what people search to find ones for our server. Here's an example https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=264387 If you ever happen to try and learn to make a boss though you could see about creating this yourself.
  24. The best person in xG, you've undoubtably made this place all the better whenever you're around. Does this mean we get to hit the mascot again?
