Regarding the new giveaway plugin
Thorax_ and 6 others reacted to Rhododendron for a post in a topic
Honestly at the end of the day this is probably the most first world thread I have ever seen. People complaining that the virtual items they are receiving for free aren't worth enough. My god. -
7 pointsThis is the second piece I have made for Link. This one features his most recent Pyro loadout for Team Fortress 2, and I'm fairly happy with how it turned out. I integrated some styles from several of my previous pieces, creating a sort of hybrid between the two, using both smoother, pastel-like shading and a basic color-based outline that I derived from a piece I did not post on here, which really works well to bring out the most prominent features. I am incredibly happy with how I have improved since I made the original Link portrait. Though I've been drawing my whole life, I only started digital artwork with a tablet back in March of this year, and I really like where things are going. I hope you do too :D

4 pointsUsually when I find an item that I won't use, I either sell it or delete it. Any sensible person would simply sell an item like this, and you're wrong by saying it's worthless. As of looking up a Specialized Killstreak Backburner on the SCM right now, here are the sell prices: It's worth half a key at the least, a lot more than a scrap.

I personally don't mind the giveaway plugin, as long as it works properly. I did have to initially remove it from TGH the night it was added because it was causing the server to constantly crash, but the plugin was soon fixed afterwards. As long as the plugin continues to be developed and worked on, I really see no problem. One option I do hope to see though, is an option to disable the messages from the giveaways/choose to opt out, as I am an individual who does not need nor want any free items or credits and would like someone else to have them. I do know an option like this was discussed so hopefully we can see that soon. Though in the future, please use the testing server we have for testing new versions of said plugin before putting it on one of our populated servers, we have plenty of staff who would gladly help test it. -

@Kypari I really don't know what your issue is lol, you're getting an extra drop from the bot that someone else didn't want for absolutely free just for being on the server, why are you having such a mental breakdown? You can literally scrap the items if you don't want them or delete them from your inventory or just don't accept them, like am I reading your posts right? The bot is a work in progress, we are not outright removing it as @Rhododendron has spent a lot of time coding it from scratch, and we are happy to take feedback to help improve it. That being said, your rage towards us taking people's items that they don't want, and redistributing it back to our community instead of profiting off of it is very odd. -

You know the bot does need work, but it's honestly hurtful people saying to scrap it all together. As it was coded, it gives out better items the more linked players are on and if you think I should just wait until more players are on so I can feel justified doing a giveaway for items that some people want, I'm ok with that. I could even code in something where it asks you if you rather get credits instead of the item upon winning and you can choose from there. But I honestly don't understand why people are against something that does not really change any aspect of the game. -

Just to summarize the thoughts of myself from the 6 pages so if anyone is reading can catch up and we don't repeat each other another few times. We will add an opt - out feature in some way so you don't need to get items at all if you don't want them. They are free items, they should not be considered like our raffles but more in line with "an extra drop" that TF2 / CS:GO already gives you from playing servers, except the higher-ups will actively put in valuable items (TF2, CS:GO keys like we already have) Not everyone has every yellow drop or 5 cent strange item, I know I personally wouldn't mind some if I played since I sold a bunch of stuff from my inventory in the past. Any items you DO get are able to be retraded, scrapped, used, sold, or deleted upon your desire. The bot is a work in progress, and I 100% disagree with people joining the forums for the giveaway bot, and thinking they will be mad at us since it's not a key, unusual or anything in between. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated as this is a discussion, the reason @Kypari got flack was not because he voiced something for a greater group of people, it's HOW he voiced it. He does not need to come off as an entitled jerk without trying to understand our reasoning behind what we are doing, or being condescending/rude to others because he plays TF2 to the point where low quality items no matter how free they are, are just annoying for him and the only things he wants if they are free, are if they are of value or can be sold. -

Plus, once again, the more players linked = higher tier items. Cheap items do not have to be an absolute. -
2 pointsGame Name: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Platform: Nintendo Switch Time Spent: ~90 hours Do you recommend? Yes What you rate the game: 9.5 Initial Thoughts: The beginning of the game was like opening a mystery crate; it was mysterious, the controls weren’t all unlocked yet, everything was interesting and it just kept revealing new things to me. The gameplay was easy enough to pick up and the starting enemies were perfect for easing the player into the flow of battle and also basic mechanics. What really kept amazing me was the scenery-- it never failed to amaze me. Gameplay and Story: Admittedly, the story wasn’t too important or in depth. It was the typical ‘Ganon is evil and did a bunch of evil things and you gotta save Zelda.’ But, the sheer amount of gameplay and features in Breath of the Wild compensated. There were many hidden mechanics that aren’t explicitly taught (i.e. crouching dashes, shield surfing, and mounting certain enemies). Finding them or learning of them made the game interesting and more in depth as compared to previous Zelda games. In my opinion, one of the best parts about Breath of the Wild is the ability to be creative in whatever you do. For example, there’s always more than one way to take on an enemy; you could sneak strike them from behind, you could rain arrows on them or you could use a Korok leaf to blow remote bombs on them. There’s just so many different methods of doing things. That said, as a player, I constantly found new items, methods and little easter eggs scattered about the gigantic map. There are so many points of interest in the game that honestly, I would have expected more quests for them. This brings me to my other point: quests. You have your Main Quests such as “Defeat Ganon,” Shrine Quests, and Sidequests. Although some quests are the same (i.e. Defeat x!, Gather these items!, or Find x!), some are genuinely interesting to play through. One quest that stands out in my mind relates to the construction of an entire town from the ground up (Literally named From the Ground Up). It’s the longest quest in the game, but playing through it was fun and interesting in my opinion. Backstory: The backstory to this game is essentially the basis and catalyst for all the game's events. To summarize, everything that happened in the past with Ganon and all has a direct effect on the present in which the game is playable. Some characters are the ancestors of characters of the past that may or may not hate you for your actions or lack of action. Overall, I'd say the backstory does well to support the main story, but the story as a whole falls short of other games. Pros: Scenery (Probably the best part about playing the game is just looking over after climbing a mountain and enjoying the view.) Fluid, Adaptable gameplay that evolves as you learn Lots of Content and Easter Eggs (Like Mr. Iwata/Botrick here.) Exploration/Map Size and Good Difficulty Curve DLC and Future Updates Planned Cons: After beating the game, it gets difficult to find new things to do. Many quests or goals are very tedious and require a lot of resources, time and patience. You can find many weapons, but there are no permanent weapons other than the Master Sword. Travelling to places without fast travel points is tedious and having a horse around isn’t always guaranteed. Resources are always limited, so grinding for enough or just peace of mind is inevitable. Final Thoughts: Breath of the Wild, in my personal opinion, was a brave new step in the right direction for the franchise. It’s open world exploration and mechanics were very interesting to play through and provided many countless hours of playing. I usually get bored fairly easily, but this game kept showing me new things to do and new places to check out-- I haven’t even finished all the quests and shrines yet. And because DLC is on the horizon, the game is guaranteed to provide even more content. Anyone can pick up the game and start playing; you don’t have to be a fan of the series already, which is one feature I like about it.

2 pointsI totally agree that people shouldn't be mud slinging, but it's not a first time thing with kypari. There are many threads that we have had to lock in the past due to how he likes to debate, and this is just a prime example. It is a gaming community, and if you're going to be disrespectful to someone whose intentions were nothing but good, (Rhodo's in this case) people will be defensive and respond to him accordingly.

To be quite fair people shouldn't be mud slinging even if the initial posts came off as rude, it just breeds further animosity and arguing rather than calm discussion. Yes someone shouldn't be condescending and rude, but when others return fire or flack it just makes it get worse. -

Well then honestly I must be misunderstanding something here. You're main complaint was that people won't want to sign up on the forums just for some "junk item". Right? Who knows if they would or not really? Like I said I'm sure there ARE people that appreciate things like this, even if "it's not good to sell" or whatever, not everyone is a trader in this game, they might actually USE the weapon or whatever they might get from the bot. -

To calm everyone down, here's a cute cat girl being smug as fuck. I just hope you all chill out, @Kypari i know how it feels to be on the outside of an opinion, and others should respect that, but don't start the fire if you don't want them by ridiculing someone's hard work, which i'm sure you understand. Also, i think silence understands that this is a work in progress and i applaud him for the hard work, but remember people, we are a gaming community, and just try and relax and take people's opinions better. I would recommend higher staff warning people if they start to get too disrespectful. I'm sorry if i'm saying what the higher ups are saying but it's true. All of your opinions matter and all of you are beautiful people. Also, others shouldn't just mock someone else's opinion or try and dumb it down because that only frustrates them further. I'm not on either side, i just think everyone here could of done a better job in communicating their opinions. Love you all friends. -

I have close to 500 hours of TF2 lol, I know exactly what uncraftable means. The whole point of the bot as well is a nice gesture for playing on our servers and being connected to our forums, you can get better items, it's not limited to the bottom of the barrel stuff. We have put 10 TF2 keys and 5 CS:GO keys on the bot, and will constantly be adding things onto it. Yes every hour we don't give a key away or an unusual, but that doesn't mean it's not appreciated by others. As mentioned earlier, the bot will get worked on. I also understand you don't like free things unless they are worth something, but you can think of this exactly as an extra "drop" that TF2 or CS:GO already gives you just from playing the game, except you get more opportunities for them just from playing in our servers. You don't lose out on anything for wininng these items, and once again, you can do whatever you like with them including deleting them from your inventory if they bother you so much. Legit no idea what you're even trying to say here, they have a chance to earn something good from the bot by chance, if not it's something they can use / giveaway / discard. In minecraft we give keys that have a chance to give you something really good, or crap such as dirt. How is this any different? We aren't charging people, it's a free extra item for their inventory. Not everyone is entitled dude. -

Getting free items from the bot is literally like getting a regular drop from the game itself. You shouldn't have to be upset because you weren't able to profit at least 1 scrap from it. It's free items for gods sake, if you don't like it there's an in-game option where you right click the item in your backpack and delete it. NOT that hard -

Not to sound like a super asshole here but if people want to donate stuff thats awesome. It shouldn't matter on the value of the item. Someone wanted to give it to the bot to give to someone else. While giving crates is not cool just be happy with you get. Like I said it isn't on the value of the item, its the thought that counts. You are really the only person that is pissed the bot exists. -

PSA: New rule regarding sprays, avatars and customizable items
Sora_ reacted to realBelloWaldi for a post in a topic
We decided to overhaul the current rule about sprays. From now on it is explicitly stated that avatars, customizable items (i.e. objectors, name tags, description tags etc.) and sprays are included. Additionally, we decided to elaborate on what is allowed and what isn't: Sprays, avatars and items that are able to be customized cannot contain the following: nudity, racism, hate symbols, gore, derogatory content and images of sexualized minors (this includes drawn images). There was some confusion going on and we hope this is gonna make moderating the servers a little easier for our staff. I will keep this thread open to get feedback on the new rule and answer questions in case anyone has any. 1 pointHi xenogamers I'm tera. I signed up with the name zerg because I was too lazy to change it and I like starcraft like the stereotypical Asian I am. I go by way too many names. I come to this community as I know some laddos here and they're cool dudes, yknow who you are I don't need to mention you. I also came here because I was cucked from another community RIP. I'm from Malaysia, where we're famous for the missing plane and good food. I just graduated recently from college and I'm now on a really long holidays til I go to med school next year. I like a lot of stuff such as games, piano, medicine, sexy Asian ladies, underwater stuff, dragons (I'm not a scaliefag.. Okay but I'm a bit obsessed with reptiles), anime, and memes from time to time. My engrish is not goodo at times so forgive me if you don't understand what I'm writing now. feel free to add me, I'm usually at the asian sweatshop store saying "TANK YU COME AGAIN." If you have any questions, feel free to ask  In all seriousness though, I hope to contribute something.

I wasn't entirely clear earlier, allow me to rephrase. I'm well aware that weed doesn't cause a chemical addiction, doesn't have harmful effects, and is far less 'potent' then alcohol in general. I don't care if he smokes weed or not, I think that's perfectly OK. My problem is if he would moderate a xG server while high, and until I read the posts of the past week (a reminder; I've been camping on work during weekdays), I was convinced from multiple members saying he was frequently high on servers. That's my fault, I see now that I made my comments before I did enough research to make a proper judgement. Sorry. :S I'm withdrawing my -1 and remaining neutral for now. Regardless, I stand by my point: high, drunk, or whatever; I don't think you should be online moderating a server while your mind and judgement is being manipulated by an outside source. -
1 pointWell I guess now would be a time to apologize to @Kypari and say that I too try to go hard during debates and looking back now I did go a little far and immature in my posts.m, and am sorry. Its just the way you worded it you sounded like a greedy bitch but now you seem pretty chill now. So now I apologize for sounding like an ass. In regards to the bot, my final thoughts are that we should: Have an option to opt out of of giveaways Reduce the size of announcement to maybe !msay or !tsay etc. Have a minimum amount of value you can add to the bot I think this is it. Once again @Kypari sorry for sounding like an ass to you.
-
1 pointI understand that too, though regardless of the many past incidents I'd personally like to try and keep the peace before things have a chance to escalate again is all. I understand people want to defend something they see as good too, I'd just like to make sure things don't go into a more nasty territory that breeds drama or contempt between people.

1 pointThere should just be some sort of opt-out option for people who don't want to see the messages or take part in it if at all possible. Also, I want to just throw out there that people should relax a bit, some posts feel a little heated or spiteful and that's no good.
-
1 pointMost of us understand you put a lot of effort into it, but in its current state it just floods chat. It still has some bugs to be worked out. I don't even mind the whole free item bit. I can just see it being an issue of afk farming and regulating item names and whatnot. On top of that imo most people are going to use it as a glorified garbage bin for their junk. It does affect players by having to talk over the servers normal spam and now this bot. Specially since staff have to give an in chat warning which will be buried atm. We appreciate the thought but like I said it needed more time before being released.
-
1 pointI can understand not wanting crates and such, but like people have said, it's not like you're paying anything to get these items, its literally just for playing on the server, I guess no one can be pleased these days lol. And if its an uncraftable spec ks then maybe USE it like it's meant to be instead of instantly trying to flip a profit, eh? Oh well, I like the idea personally of the plugin.
-
1 pointI believe adding an opt-out feature is what we were discussing earlier, or to have it auto opt-out and you can opt-in if you'd like. One or the other.
-
1 pointMaybe @Rhododendron can add an opt-out feature to where you don’t get a message about it in chat and won’t be chosen as a possible winner. That way those who are content and grateful about it can be happy with it.
